Cherry blossom season was amazing, went to Ueno Park and it was crowded, but looking at all the trees blooming was beautiful. It was also the time for people to picnic underneath the trees; the funny part is the next morning, I turn on the hotel TV and notice the police and paramedics carrying people out of the park, many of them from too much drinking, and I said to myself, "hey, I was there!"

Thanks Amy for another great video. Last year, in the middle of March, we got to enjoy the cherry bloosoms in Tokyo. We didnt expect it at all, and walked trough Ueno park to go to Yanaka, and there were so many people there enjoying hanami. So the next day, we went to Nakameguro, and it was lovely. It was very crowded, but so well organised, and as japanese people are so respectul of others, it was never uncomfortable. Even for me, who really doesnt like crowds. Another nice experience is from a previous trip to Japan, where we were there just before the cherry blossom. We had found a nice bar/restaurant in gion in kyokto, and they severed sakura processo (processo with a hibiscus flower in it).
@cakeswithfaces7 ай бұрын
I've always found that too - even when it's crowded in Japan, it's not as bad as other places because people tend to be more respectful and considerate. That's one of the things I always miss about Japan. Glad you caught the sakura in some of the top spots!

@cakeswithfaces7 ай бұрын
If you buy them on Klook, check if they're allocated to a specific date. I believe the boat tickets on there don't guarantee you a spot on a particular day. You can buy the train tickets from any JR station in the Kansai region, so I'd recommend getting them as soon as you arrive in Kansai, and get there early as boat tickets are first come first served.

I went to Tokyo in Easter 2006 and arrived bang in the middle of cherry blossom season. I was shocked by the crowds in Ueno park, and the blue tarpaulins they put on the floor under the trees for hanami, reserved for groups in advance to sit on at prearranged times and have their picnics. It seemed too bright and plasticky for such a romantic activity! 😄 Shinjuku-koen was more natural, we had a picnic there and although it was busy there was plenty of room to sit near the trees. You have to pay a small entry fee, which probably keeps it from being completely rammed like Ueno. But the queue to buy the tickets was long! I’m going back with my family at the end of March, so looking forward to seeing what has changed and what stays the same. 🌸

Absolutely, it's essential to be respectful when photographing cherry blossoms. Manipulating the branches can be seen as disrespectful, as cherry blossoms hold cultural significance in Japan. It's best to admire them without disturbing their natural state.
