2 weeks of riding and I still can’t wrap my head around rev matching when downshifting lol it’s crazy how effortless it looks to other people. Getting better at launching at least.

You give a blip of throttle before letting out the clutch. Ignore the numbers, it's just as example: When you go down from 3rd (6000rpm) to 2nd, the bike might jump to 8000 rpm who knows by you giving a small amount (blip) of throttle you are now already at higher RPMS so they're like "aligned" The worse of a rev match job you did, the more engine braking you will probably encounter I think So if you see down shifts are going smoother with less force pushing you back (engine brake?) ur getting better

And the lower the gear the bigger that blip might be I'm not sure. It's possible gear 1 needs way more blip than 5

@@kevlarcs8910 yeah. Blipping to downshift is one of the trickier parts of riding. How much throttle you need depends on several factors--speed, gear, and rpm. Keep practicing and you'll get the hang of it. Something that you could try is to find a road that you can maintain a certain speed, and practice up shifting and down shifting while maintaining that speed. Hopefully it works for several gears, and you can go from 4th to 5th to 6th and back down.

I always find it so weird when people say "yeah not a big engine" and be riding a 500cc like nothing when in my country there are mostly 125cc to 200cc as most sold. Then yeah I think it must be cool to have that a basic.

@@originalpollution thanks for the reply. Yeah I guess here in the US and some other countries a "500" cc engine is considered small. I find it fun and more than capable of doing anything that I need to do. It is quicker than most cars if you rev it out. And with a top speed over 120 mph it is plenty fast. I like how light and nimble it is, and 60 mpg is a nice bonus as well.

Wouldn’t even be able to reach legal speeds on half the roads I ride on with a 200.
