Hi Chris, how’s your resolution of airplay of goodnotes? I feel the quality of zoom screen sharing is a little blurry compared to sharing of a document like PowerPoint. Do u have the same issue?

Hi Peggy, It seems airplay sharing of most apps from the iPad loses a bit of resolution; I suspect it's either because airplay is limiting the bandwidth to ensure a smooth connection between the iPad and Laptop/Desktop, or because Zoom is simply killing the resolution to reduce bandwidth load in internet transmission (probably the latter!). However, I don't find the decreased resolution to be problematic; just not as sharp as what would be eye pleasing.

@@TheAccountingProf hahahah I see! So it’s only my problem. my students are not bothered by it. I was just thinking anyway to improve the clarity. Thanks Chris!

Hi there! I was using a PowerDeWise Lavalier Lapel Microphone. Not too expensive and works really well.

When connected via cable, the presenter mode does not work. Instead it shares the entire screen (mirrors it). When Airplay mode is selected, the presenter mode is working perfect however with a reduced resolution and lag on writing.

You’re right, the presenter mode doesn’t work when connected via cable. I really wish it did, but I suspect this is an iOS limitation, not a GoodNotes one since the behavior seems to be consistent across other apps. GoodNotes does support presenter mode when connected via HDMI cable, so one way around this would be using a video capture card, but that may be more complicated than most people want to deal with.

I’ve been using this setup for online music lessons. It has worked well but have run into a small problem. When I’m presentation mode, I sometimes lose the connection from iPad to Mac. The screen still looks the same on the Mac and iPad but the Mac won’t register any of the gestures I’m making in the iPad. This happens when I let the iPad sit idle for a minute or 2 when I’m playing a musical example on an instrument. The only fix I have found is to stop screen sharing and start it again. Have you had this issue at all? Thanks.
