well, differnt values affect cooling (case design, quality of fans, number of components inside the case etc). Gamers nexus showed that for example half an inch of mesh on the front can make quite the crucial difference when it comes to thermo throttleing of GPU for example. So if you have a bunch of cables hanging infront of a fan (hindering airflow) or have them neatly tucked away, if makes a difference of about 1-2C°. Which can be the differecne between GPU/CPU throttleing or not under the right conditions.

A USB 3.1 Gen 2 to 2.0 (or even 3.1 Gen 1) adapter would be handy but I don't think any exist. And yeah the bulky USB 3.1 Gen 1 cable is annoying. I bought a low profile USB 3.1 Gen 1 extension cable (it looks more like a 2.0 internal connector) so the front panel cable isn't smashed up against the PSU shroud (like it was in this video).

Also did you made the test of how the cable will change anything in your existence? When I had mining rigs I made experience, test to cool down that crazy heat I was subjected to like with a powerful blower I made. If it was not directly on the cards it was not cooling down tbe freaking thing anymore. I think the cables has a psychological visual effect more than anything.

I did cablemanagement in a $40 case not too long ago... Did a pretty good job exept that the 24pin was just too thick to be able to close the case properly... One big tip if you try to do some good cablemanagement in cheap cases look first before you route any cables. You got too check EVERYTHING... (Like the thickness of the rear side panel, where the cutouts are for the cpu power cable (maybe you'll need to route your cables before installing the motherboard)...) It's really a big puzzle and not that easy... Oh, and don't forget that cheap cases have sharp edges... 😑

Managing cables in modern cases with SSD drives is easy, but what if if you have 6 coolers (one on side door), 8 hard drives connected to a disk controller, 1 optical drive and an NH-D14 on the CPU, and all this in an old Fractal Design Define R2 case without enough space behind the motherboard?

I admitted to a very negligible temp change by literally 1 degree if you over stuff your case with excess cables and random crap. Why do they always do cable management with PC cases that makes it easy? I'd like to see some cable management with "bad" computer cases - now THOSE would let me learn something, because I have a few such PC cases. Rhaaaa! :))

Case manufacturer do all the great stuff like rubber grommets, cable tie hooks, different routings, shrouds, etc. B U T P L E A S E for the love of god fix your colored USB, HD Audio and also that stupidly rigid USB 3 front panel cables

Today I learned that a group of cables is a "flock" and not "bundle" as I had previously thought.

Oh well, I have the obsidian 500D as well, I'm glad to see I'm not the only one that don't use the cable cover that originally comes with the case at the back (the one that hides the io cables). I actually had a bigger challenge 'cause I have 3 drives, 2 hdd and 1 ssd, and corsair LL100 rgb fans. Those power sata cable were designed by the devil, it was quite hard to work with them. I bought a new fully modular psu and I'm thinking in resellng it cause I don't want to deal with that cable management nightmare again.

5:49 I would have taken the opening above, put the black-white SATA-cable (?) first, then the PCIe and the mainboard cable above that. So everything holds each other. ;-)

I'm sorry if I missed something here, but what case was used for this tutorial? I have been searching in the comments, description and video but I can't seem to find the answer. It's definitely not the NZXT-one as shown in the sponsor piece, but the Amazon photos of the Dark Base 700 don't look like the case in the video either. Can someone please help? I really like this case!

Its just so it looks better, and there isnt more dust all over the place, if there is space the air will flow, having some cables around wont do anything for the performance. Still its a nice thing to do, i even manage my PC, monitor, etc cables around the desk.

You forgot the first step: buy a fucking nice case!!!! Please A lot of ppl complain because their $49 case look like with cable management

Dont install the front Audio USB and Audio cables is the first tip. They are ugly. If you need more ports spend 10 bucks on a USB Hub with a 1M Cable

I have built many pcs im my days. But my freshly built system is a challenge. Currently using it after fresh build no panels, procrastinating doing the cable management on it has 8fans with splitters plus rgb splitters 2x mechanical hardrives and a gpu that eats up all the space under the psu all in a Asus Ap201 so kinda see threw. Like to see you try and cable manage it lol.

Well, looks like I'm doing nothing wrong, I even make the effort to sleeve my SATA data cables together and rotate cable ties so their clipped ends are out of sight, but the end result STILL doesn't look as good as I'd like to. Maybe mini ITX boards are too small to make all those cables sticking out of it look clean.

Front USB 3 is indeed horrid, but 24pin is more horrid. Last motherboard had 24pi slot exact other way, so now it needed to do 180degree bend opposite direction and boy did it not want to. Ended up ordering 24pin extension to work around it and it got lost in mail.. :D Well didn't order one again as now it's been in place couple months and of course plays ball.

Any idea how I can make my cabinet organised if it doesn't have those 'cable chambers' and the PSU is not modular? FYI I am using a cooler master ammo 533.

A series that would really take off (IMO) is one where you show the best way to cable manage a certain in case in a span of 5 minutes or so.

Didn’t LinusTechTips debunk the myth that cables are making the cooling worse? From their tests on that video they confirmed that things will make the cooling worse if the whole chassi is fully filled so that you can’t see any components , and even then it works fine.

Does anyone on this planet have a idea for hiding the cables directly coming out from the back of the pc. My pc is side mounted and I want to hide the wires as the pc is on a display case, I don't know what to do, I could try to fabricate something but I don't have a welder and I don't want it made out of wood. Thanks!

My case has notches for cable ties. What do I do with front I/O cables that stick out of my MATX board in mid tower? There is a 15cm clearance.

yea thats easy when u got like 2 fans and only the pc. BUT if u got 6 that 3 of them is with controller plus fans and pwm adapter u cant cable managment that.

Lol ODC anyone? If you really want to hide the cables then convince the motherboard and power supply people to run the power through the motherboard then to the plugins. One short plug in to the motherboard from the power supply.

The cooler system when cable management is good myth is not true Linus actually made a video on it and secondly, I don't understand why would someone lose so much time on managing the backside of the PC?
