My chihuahuas at home are my little hot pockets. I’m on the road and missing them but am getting van repairs. Currently no heater in van and I’m staying at a hotel until my van is done. They’re in very good hands though until I get back to them. All very good tips. I’m hoping to avoid cold on the way home and will take a southern route. Happy and safe travels 🚐🐶❤️

I'm doing insulation right now in me van! 🥶. Doing noico sound deadening 1/4 in with a layer of reflectix on top so there's no conductivity to the foil from the van metal then and air gap then another reflectix layer. It's taking me forever but it's gonna be worth it . Stay warm guys!🙋🏽‍♂️😆

Also mr.buddy uses propane which causes serious humidity and it's unvented meaning the humidity is stuck inside your van causing mold. Diesel heater is the way to go even for a gasoline engine van just use a small auxiliary fuel tank. Cheep chinese diesel heater is the best way to go.

I've been living in a van in Vancouver Bc Canada now for five years. I have a 1990 ford e 250 Campervan. It's a very big van. I don't like the Chinese diesel heater. From the videos I've seen on KZbin, lots of people are having problems with them. Plus the ticking noise and also the scent of the diesel is not my cup of tea. Installation requires at least 4 hrs or more. I prefer the catalytic heaters, I have two of them. Catalytic heaters don't produce carbon monoxide, but they consume a lot of oxygen leaving you no choice but two open up the windows and a bit of the vent too. My van is equipped with a propane tank that powers my wave 3 heater. For the back of the van, I have two extra 20 pounds tanks for my coleman catalytic heater. When one propane tank is empty I switch with the full tank. Eventually I pass where I can fill it back up. If my tank under my van becomes empty, I take my other propane tank and connect it to the wave 3 heater. This way, I always have full heating.

Very nice, to each there own. Two ways to get rid of the tapping sound when you mount the small 12volt pump don't attach it directly to the metal of your van. Make sure to have a piece of rubber in between the two. Wrap the pump with installation to dampen the noise also. Last thing when you screw it into the van, make sure the screw isn't too tight. As for the diesel smell, that is a personal thing. Only sometimes we would smell it. The new Chinese heater are slightly different than the 1st generation ones, that might be why you are seeing more problems with them. Just my 2 cents. It sounds like you have a great setup for yourself.

How much fuel do you use to heat the van in cold a day and are you ever worried of using it up and not being able to get to a gas station?
@FnAVanLife
@FnAVanLife 4 жыл бұрын
Hey Kiki!!! The heater on max uses 1 gallon every 24 hours. We keep it on medium or low and so we're not worried about tapping out the gas tank. Definitely good to consider, you should always be fueled up!

Hmmm...you just gave me something to think about for how I can redesign my bed in my stealth minivan so I can raise it and lower it for the summer or winter. One more thing to use, which is awesome, are these little rechargeable hand warmers from Amazon (see below). I have one for each pocket when I am outside, and they last like 15 hours. At night, if my four doggies aren't snuggled with me in the bed, the warmers can go down by my feet to keep my extremities warm. Since I only have a 500watt Jackery, there isn't enough power to use something like an electric blanket, and I don't feel safe using the free-standing gas-powered items like the Mr. Buddy with the furbabies (yes, agreed...perfect little live space heaters) in the van in case they tip it over. (Also, the minivan is really too small imo to install something like a Webasto.) Your post was full of great warmth tips. Thanks as always for the information, and please give snuggles to Paco for me. He is such a cutie! One of mine (also a Chihuahua/Pug mix) could very well be a little girlfriend for him. ;) I hope my babies get to meet your baby some day (Three Chihuahuas and a Yorkie) - Alis smile.amazon.com/OCOOPA-Rechargeable-10000mAh-Handwarmer-Motorcycling/dp/B08D3PWNDP/ref=sr_1_7?dchild=1&keywords=OCOOPA+Rechargeable+Hand+Warmers%2C+10000mAH+Electric+Handwarmer+Winter+Warm+15+Hours+Portable+Hands+Heater+for+Men+and+Women%2C+Outdoor+Indoor&qid=1603922845&s=sporting-goods&sr=1-7

I installed Havelock in my Promaster 159 but I'm in the build process still so I haven't "used" it yet. Working on upper cabinets while I wait on the fridge and stove to arrive so I'm getting closer. I'll say keeping heat out has been noticeable here in FL but I must admit the animal smell was surprising. I'm not an animal owner so perhaps I'm more sensitive but it smells like a wet dog or barnyard to me. HOWEVER--- I would buy it again without question. The smell never dissipated until the walls and ceiling were completely enclosed with my tongue and groove cypress. I don't recall smelling it since but like I said, no regrets and would buy again. Check out my build on Instagram: instagram.com/mooredoing/

How about this tip: get a proper heating system. A lot of these van campers are out here promoting van life without the proper equipment. Wearing socks and hoodies etc. Nobody should be having a van and can't stay warm. You insulate your van and have a proper heating system. No socks and sleeping bags and the like. And the biggest thing is finances. If you can't afford to build the proper van then wait until you can afford to do it. Too many channels promoting this lifestyle giving out faulty information. I'm not saying that's what you're doing, this is a general statement. Safe travels.
@FnAVanLife
@FnAVanLife Жыл бұрын
Thanks joe. Some people will want to do it with sleeping blanket. Some will want the real system to stay warm it is all preference. I personally wont go with out a real heater especially cause I'm a snowboarder and it is a must to do that style of vanlife. Granted I understand where you are trying to come from with what you wrote. I know that wasnt directed towards this video or us.
