Tips on trailering and launching a boat

Hey , what do you think of my new truck. It's has all the safety features needed to properly trailer a boat. Let me explain the legal issues of trailering a boat. I will also show you the proper way to launch the boat and point out the Coast Guard requirements that apply to all states. Let's go fishing!

That’s a great tip on the self-inflating life jackets, I have plenty of regular ones too but I didn’t know the self inflating didn’t count unless they were on. We ALWAYS wear ours all the time, especially on the Columbia R., that’s what they’re for , to be worn. The other must is a battery disconnect, I all most learned the the hard way. I had a small boat with a cigarette lighter plug in the panel that I sometimes plugged a light into to find the duck blind in the dark . Apparently being out in all kinds of weather (it didn’t have a lighter in it ) water got into it and rusted it which some how shorted it out. It melted all the insulation on all the wires behind the dash into one big mess before it burned the main power wire in two. It could have been much worse, could have lost my shop and everything in it. My newer boat has a battery shut-off but the cigarette lighter is disconnected because I noticed it was starting to do the same thing. Thanks for the good info.

I just bought my first ever new (to me) bass boat. i had no idea the coast guard required all of the items you went over! My trips to Lake St Clair will now be much less stressful not having to worry if we are boarded while on the water. You're a legend! Thanks, son!!

Wonderful video, to many guys just think if it hooks up, they're ready to go. If you could sometime for a future video. Years ago on your TV show you did a deap scratch repair on your fiberglass boat. I have repaired my boats threw the years many times. If you could do a short how-to video on boat up keep would help out a few thousand young guys in the sport. Thanks for sharing many years of experience.

You missed a step if you want your motor to last longer drain all the gas and oil from it before taking it out of the water 💦 to keep your motor clean and to keep your motor from seizing up on you or clogging up with too much oil and no gas because gas evaporates while oil stays in there and guncks up your motor
