Thank you so much for explaining the notch reverse thread, had no idea. What amp setting do you use for these heim links? What setting would you use for heim tie rods?

No problem. I’m pretty sure with these links in particular I was running at 140 amps but it all comes down to the thickness of tube your using

I welded some tube inserts for my tie rode a couple weeks ago and the first 3/4” or so went in smoothly and ones it got to the section where I welded on to it shredded the thread on the heim and got stuck or just super hard to get on. Any advice on what I might have done wrong? Maybe to hot of a root pass? Need some tips before trying to weld my drag link ends next.

Definitely too much heat on the root pass. But doesn’t sound like your too far off since it’s not so bad you can’t threat in at all. Those inserts are pretty thin wall and won’t take much to distort the threads. It’s kinda a fine balance making sure you get adequate penetration. I would try cutting back on how much heat you put in on the root pass. It will help to not try to do the whole root in one go. Section it into quarters and flip if that makes sense.
