I'm glad you touched on that exotic animals like Tiptoe would require specialists and this is why you should not give pets as gifts,especially exotic ones and to have pet insurance. But,we can see Tiptoe is loved and cared for and he just wants to be around his family.

Hello!! Our Lab went to the Vet yesterday and that visit was $2500!! Vets are crazy expensive. But im so glad TT is doing better!!🐢🐢🐢🐢

I am very glad your gorgeous tortoise is feeling better. It is always better to be safe than sorry especially when dealing with a reptile that is not native to your area. Tiptoe is designed to function in a hot climate. It is not really possible to account for all the potential issues this might cause so being a little over careful is the best plan. He is such a magnificent tortoise! You are very lucky to have him!

It's okay. It's always best to be careful and carry your pet by the vet if you see they are not in normal condition. His health and happiness is the most important. 😄

Glad he is doing better! Pet Health scares are the worst. I know how resilient tortoises can be about hiding problems too, so you were not out of line to be getting him to your exotic vet. You take great care of him. I THOUGHT his beak looked better! Tell him he looks very handsome with his new smile.

4 hours of straight eating... sounds like me when I was a teen... glad to hear he's got his appetite back, always a good sign of feeling better. I love the way you take care of Tiptoe... most kids would have lost interest in a slow moving tortoise a long time ago... it's fun watching you with him and your relationship with each other. And it always make me smile watching your videos... you are beautiful and Tiptoe is handsome... what a pair. 🥰

Good idea to track data on diet and activity... Smart. I should do the same. We've used a pool filter too, and it's a game changer!! Soooo very happy that he's feeling better!! 🥰 What a relief! 💞😊

Did the vet say anything about _daily_ soaking? I've always understood that too much soaking is not good for desert tortoises. In zoo captive management tortoises were not soaked daily, but only 1 or 2 days of the week, for 15-30 minutes. Each did have access 24/7 to fresh drinking water in a water dish. And much of their diet was healthy greens like romaine, red leaf lettuce, and chard. With vegetables like yam, carrot, broccoli, beets and fruits like apples and banana. Treats of other fruits and vegetables as available. A specific blend of calcium powder and reptile vitamins was dusted lightly onto their salads. Some were taken out to graze on occasion, on pesticide free fertilizer free lawn. Most were given clean dry alfalfa hay that doubled as bedding and food. I'm trying to recall, Im not remembering, if salad days were daily or every other day. I was taught that too much hydration can be harmful and overwork tortoise kidneys. In hot weather, we offered free choice access to water sprinkler areas and mud wallows.

I rescued a box turtle many years ago and it has created in me a total phobia where my skin crawls. I still have to care for this little and he gets only the best, However the rituals I have to go through after dealing with tank the turtle is horrible hours and it leaves me a wreck, exhausted. Tip toe is helping me try my own form of exposure therapy by just watching him minus the showers and rituals. Thanks tippy toe.

I am SO glad that Tiptoe is feeling better. Yeah, taking care of our critters can be quite pricey, but that’s what Care Credit is for, LOL. I love Tiptoe’s pond, and I wish I had that setup for my sully. Fortunately, he’s still small enough that he fits in the laundry room sink, but by this time in September, he’ll be too big. I so relieved TipToe is OK! I was surprised at how scared and worried I was about him. His health never been anything but perfect before so hearing he wasn't feeding good really concerned! It’s so hard with tortoises, things can go wrong seemingly quickly because they are good at not showing illness until they are very sick. Like cats. Tortoises are the cats of the reptile world. Glad everything is ok with TT, you’re a great animal caregiving role model!

Veterinarian are outrageous expensive especially exotics veterinarian. I had an emergecy procedure done on my guinea pig like years ago for $250. Including overnight stay. The same procedure today would cost over $1100. One's needs to shop around for Veterinarian that you feel comfortable with, stay away from Big corporations owned. Happy that TT is on his way to healing. Glad to see him eating ravishing again ❤

It’s never a bad thing to get your tortoise checked out, because of their shells it is harder to see if something is wrong and sometimes by the time they show outwards signs they can be really poorly. So glad he seems to be getting better. Love to you both ❤ tiptoe plushie would be amazing 🤩

It is so good to see tiptoe back to his home! Yes, that vet bills can be quite astonishing at times. Just be thankful you don’t have a herd of horses. We are so appreciative that you keep us in the loop as we all really care about what’s going on with our tortoise! Well, you know what I mean… Hopefully he will not have to go see the vegetarian anytime soon and yes, that means vegetarian it’s a codeword, so the cat doesn’t get upset because she knows how to spell the other one! We would love a plushy toy available. We would like to buy a couple of that’s OK think about it and we look forward to another progress report. Thanks for sharing!
