This match might have gone to the final round, if not for that blooper by Mark Ellis & co. The result may have ended up being the same, but it was nevertheless a big mistake in a big game. Especially during a "challenge" and when you supposedly checked the movie for verification (which you obviously didn't properly do). The actual timecode for the scene in question is at 01:01:44 (on the bluray), not 48 mins as Ellis suggested.

I think Brianne chose to use her championship opportunity in this match FOR THE MERE REASON to assure they win. She even says that guarantees a female winner in the Team League, which is the clear bias. What a joke. At least the anarchy tournament is on the way.

Are you really surprised? All these guys setting up these matches have done everything in their power to make sure the Shirewolves are in the best case scenario possible. Notice how Clarke always gets horror one way or another and the questions are SO easy. The hardest one was the spoon question you just mentioned and we see how that played out....

I actually like the Shirewolves and Clarke and Rachel individually. But, the honest truth is, they haven't legitimately won this team championship. The championship was decided upon with a wrong answer, having been awarded as correct. In addition, they haven't really earned it through defeating a standing team champion, due to the belt being made vacant. They should immediately be mandated to defend it against the highest currently ranked team, to prove they are indeed worthy holders of a belt. The "rookie" team they played against in this match to supposedly "earn" the championship is not legitimate in any reasonable sense. The "Free-for-all" freebie pass was never supposed to used as a free-pass to play for a "vacant" championship, but to challenge whoever was already the proven and deserved champions. Since, the championship was vacant, this loophole made for an easy shoe-in, for whoever played against this rookie "Sick in the Head" team. Think of how hard previous team champion holders have had to work to earn their titles, like "Patriots" and "Above the Line." This needs to be remedied to preserve the integrity of the Schmoedown. Shirewolves must immediately defend the title (dubiously decided upon with an incorrect answer) by playing the highest seeded team for the belt.

This is very bittersweet for me, after seeing who was Briannes teammate I had no doubt who was gonna win. I wont say its a tainted championship but it definitely feels a little empty since ATL forfeited their belts. Lets just say the match was nowhere near the caliber and excitement of a Patriots T10 or Patriots ATL, and that is mostly due to 1 the length of the match and also 2 how lopsided the teams were, just my few thoughts.

Shirewolves had the most accurate performance in a team title match ever. That means their opponent is next to irrelevant, as they would have beaten any team in the league. Including ATL. I don't find the championship to be tainted when the (statistically speaking) best team in the league took the belts.

Joachim - Potentially. It's just as likely that Above the Line, Top 10, and Patriots would have A - known the answers as well B - gambled more, buzzed faster, spun better, etc. etc. The idea that because they preformed better against a FAR FAR FAR more inexperienced team therefore, there isn't a question if they would've won - is just insane. And that's not even going into the mental aspects that facing a true championship caliber team might've had as well. Both Clarke and Cushing have been known to choke in high-tensity situations. It could be argued that there may be a correlation with how well they performed to the lack of competition they faced. People tend to do better with confidence.

I would have liked to see Brianne and Mike in cahoots with the whole Korruption work and then Mike would reveal to have a title shot. Very disappointed.

Very anticlimactic for me personally, the Shirewolves will earn the belts if they can defend it. They personally had the easiest road to the title. No challenge from any of there competitors. They needed to face real competition that didn’t rely on luck. It’s one thing to win a belt, it’s another thing to defend it.

Brianne won the FFA in 2018 and in doing so, she got a free title shot of her choosing which basically means that no matter when or with who, she automatically gets a shot at any title. I would’ve preferred if Critically Acclaimed and Top 10 fought for the other spot in the title match but this was still a great match

I'm happy for the Shirewolves, they played great today. And loved their reactions to winning. With all that said, I won't really see them as champions until they do a title defense. And before anyone says anything, no, it's not because they are females. It's because they played against a team that had never played together, even against a guy who has never played in the schmoedown period. And to be fair to a team that hasn't played a match together, they did pretty well for a debut match.

I'll get a lot of hate for this but screw it. If Mara beats Inman, I'm gonna consider her the TRUE first women's champion in the Schmoedown. She's had to overcome so much more. Maybe I'm wrong, but I just believe Kristan showed favoritism towards the Shirewolves (as validated in Clarke's interview), that he put them on an easy path. At what point did the Shirewolves face anyone equally matched to their skills? We know they're GOOD so why are you putting them against Ken/Dagnino and a debut team in a titles match? Team Action is a good team but that win was so controversial. Kristan could've easily put them against Top 10, Critically Acclaimed, or Top That at some point, but chose not to. I am absolutely not a hater and am just looking at things objectively. Clarke and Rachael, who I have much respect for as competitors, can bolster earning their titles all they want, but even deep down they know they didn't face the best teams. It just seems like Collider wanted to shove them as the first women's champions down our throats so badly that it just feels cheap. Unfortunately, most people won't realize this because they'll just pander to whatever they see on screen and hear "hey, we're the good guys."

World's Finest are also underrated. Team Action are top tier. However, I do agree that the actual title match was disappointing since it was a debut team.

You can only beat the team that is put in front of you. Don't take it away from The Shirewolves that they played a good game against an inferior team. Their performance today would likely have proved a challenge even to Above The Line or The Patriots. The wheel determines a lot of things in this game and the thing with the Shirewolves is that their breadth of knowledge is incredibly wide meaning not a lot of weaknesses and a whole lot of strengths. You can say they had an easy opponent, but that doesn't make them any less Champions.

Okay...let me say something positive before I start this, the Shirewolves and Brianne's entrances were on point. Just amazing. Now what I am about to say is me expressing myself and how I feel. I hope I come off respectful and this is clearly to start a discussion. Before I go into it, I understand, the situation is the situation... The moment Brianne revealed she was cashing in her Free for All title shot, I knew she was handing the titles to the Shirewolves. It was an anti climatic reveal in general and it just set up a very unexciting title match. Imagine the Shirewolves going against Above the Line for the belts and winning. That would have been such a greater moment and would have been a way more exciting match. I salivate just thinking about it. That would have been one of the best moments for Clarke and Rachel. In my opinion it would have just been a more significant note in the history of the Schmoedown, but Samm stepped down and I respect his reasons. For the record, the singles championship was also less exciting to me, but at least Bibbs and Andreyko had a history and they both had a clear road to the titles.... Back to Clarke and Rachel. I have so much respect for them (especially Rachel who's able to dominate in three leagues and for feeling how she was in that Mara match and still giving that kind of performance). The fact however is that they played a team that was debuting to gain the belts consisting of Brianne who hasn't played a normal Schmedown match outside of the Free for All since the last part of last year and Bryan who was making his debut. It was basically the Bruce Greene/Alex Damon Star Wars title match all over again and I definitely feel hollow about that victory as well. Let's say Brianne reformed Six Degrees and Stacy was her partner. They would be a rusty team because it's been so long since they played and Dan Murrell showed us at the Collision that rustiness can be an issue. So let's say Brianne picked someone who has been consistently playing in the Schmoedown? A title match I feel is no place to learn someone's chemistry so anyway you look at it, it was a bad setup anyway you look at it facing a team like the Shirewolves. Now with this result if the Shirewolves don't defend their belt in their next match and lose them, it will look like a fluke and I don't want that for them. As much as I don't like the Fyffe Club (storywise purposes because Emma comes off to me a little cocky and I just want her to go heel already lol), Clarke and Rachel had to go through so much and for that to happen would just be a shame. To sum up...Samm Levine caused more chaos in the league than Mike Kalinowski by stepping down, but he did what he felt was best for him and the Schmoedown has to keep going on. Like with the latest Star Wars Championship match, these two matches this week both felt off, but especially this match. Sick in the Head (great name!) should not have been in this match. Brianne made the decision to make this match happen with her Free for All win, a decision that I feel impacts the teams league and the Schmoedown on a few different levels. I ultimately feel Rachel and Clarke deserved a better ending to their championship quest. That was a lot, but I felt like I had to share this. Let me know what you think. There are so many good teams in this tournament. I get why Rocha and Murrell are getting the hype, but there are many teams in the tournament who have the potential to take them down. Andreyko/Sneider, Knost/Bibbs, JTE/Lon, Bateman/Reilly, Ethan/Jeanine, Kalinowski/Chance- these all have the potential to win the tournament and take down the Shirewolves.

I wouldn't disagree that the Shirewolves are deserving and may have been able to beat Above the Line. The issue is just that they didn't. It's no fault of theirs, it just is. So, in my eyes, they still have to earn it, which can only happen over time defending the title. I actually think Bibbiani had a better "title match", even though it came out of nowhere, I didn't even realize Bibbiani was in contention for the belt. But both are recipients of good luck.

Jean Luc I find the Shirewolves had a really easy path to the belt though, which taints it for me. Bibbiani fought his way there, beating Sneider and Andreyko, both of whom are top level competitors. I'm pretty sure me and a houseplant could've beaten Ken/Dagnino, World's Finest is a much better team than they get credit for but still not a top level team like a Top 10 or ATL, and a title match against a debut team? This isn't to say they couldn't beat other more competitive teams, they absolutely could, I just wish they had a tougher path to the belt.

Shirewolves played a hell of a game, and both are absolutely champion level players, but I wish their path to the belt wasn't so... easy. I think they would have beaten a lot of tougher teams, and I know it's not their choice who they play, you play whatever team is put in front of you, but it sort of feels like their championship was a bit manufactured in that sense. I'm pretty sure me and a houseplant could beat the Ken/Dagnino team, World's Finest are not quite up to a champions level either, and a Title match against a debut team doesn't necessarily make for a tough competition. The Shirewolves could have been given tougher competition and still got here, so I don't understand why that wasn't the case.

Sick in the Head's points after round 1 are pretty normal for the Schmoedown and they did ok in the wheel round. The betting round and buzzer round have 1 point penalties and are hard to master. SitH is by no means a "horrible" team, but not championship level either. World's Finest is a good team. Go watch their match against Team Trek, which is a good and experienced team. They debuted with a TKO. They also beat Team Action which is a top tier team. As for your question, a KO looks pretty legitimate to me. They've beaten all their opponents legitimately

As an enormous Schmoedown fan can I suggest one thing: if a title is ever vacated again you stage a full-blown tournament to determine a new champion. Have it be Tri-Wizard style, you want to enter, you put your name or team name in the hat and away we go.

Luck is part of the game, it's not who knows more, it's who knows what when it matters. Unfortunately for Clarke she didn't know what she needed to in any of her previous title shots. If you believe pure knowledge is about who is deserving I can think of 5 people off the top of my head who have more trivia knowledge than her, including her teammate. Whoever wins a match deserves it unless of course there is some sort of absurd or flawed ruling (which isn't why Clarke has ever lost a match as far as I can remember.) If you can tell me who held a belt that Clarke deserved more at the time tell me. The people who hold the belts deserve them because they earned them, just like Clarke and Rachel did today.

AJL What I said has nothing to do with Clarke, it was a general statement. I actually don't think Clarke deserves a belt. I do think Rachel deserves one, but Clarke isn't a high enough calibur player to me. That said, this game was pretty much a handout for The Shirewolves.
