Yes it was the Googan Baits Mondo Worm. I fish it weightless, so no it wasn't on the bottom. I tend to "power fish" my soft plastics. I don't know if that's good or bad but I catch fish that way. LOL.

CONGRATS on your new PB OLA!!! I thought I heard your voice over there way before sunrise, after I had my TT launched, but I really needed to get going as it takes me 45 minutes to get way down in Farm 13. ( I was the only angler at Stick Marsh at the time. There were a couple vehicles parked there with no boat trailers, but I have no idea why. Never saw people. But I did see you guys pull up. ) I figured I may run into ya later when we were all done. Boy was I ever in for a "not so good" surprise, and funny, you even mentioned it in this video: That high wind first thing. I hate weather forecasters. I got hit with the craziest fog too, just after sunrise ( yet still overcast of course. ) It was so thick, it made everything soaking wet, including me, and that high wind was cutting me like a knife. I was the only soul out there at the time in the Stick Marsh side. The big crowd showed up later. The water was SO dirty, everywhere. It was near crystal clear last time I went nearly a month ago. Visibility under water wasn't even 18". I knew right then it was going to be a tough day for the Stick Marsh side. Even with live wild shiners, that I wasted my money on. (You guys have it SO good in the Fellsmere side! Take full advantage!!! ) Sure enough, about noonish, the wind died & the lake got like a sheet of glass for well over an hour. One bad extreme to the other. Only caught a few small bass on lures and shiners. But I was determined to salvage the day.........somehow...lol. I tried everything, kept moving to other spots & saved the backlot for last. Finally mustered one just shy of 5 lbs in the backlot, with every jerk continuously blazing past back & forth, and waking out the edge of the flat I was fishing (RUDE people)........and fished till dark. ( 50 bucks is a lot to spend on 2 doz baits, and not get something worthwhile. ) I knew you'd be long gone by then. I wasn't alone though, every GOOD angler ( not all the rude jerks who think the backlot canal is some kind of race/testing track for their boats ) I spoke to did about the same as me, including one of the most hard core bass anglers I know for the Stick Marsh. We were the last 2 in the parking lot & agreed the dirty water was the main culprit. They are doing so much work in there, including fill dirt to strengthen the levies in several places, and all those recent fronts just turned it into a mud hole for now. SIGH. They are still keeping the lake level really low to do all that work. I was hoping they would be done with that by now..........WRONG.......LOL. We still have through April......so I'm holding out hope for this year. And I can hardly wait till you get that double digit bending your rod. You'll get it sooner or later!!!
@OldLadyAngler5 жыл бұрын
Thanks Steve! Wow.... that really stinks about the stick marsh side. And yes... that wind was very chilly. I was shaking up until lunch time. (not just from that PB either). The Fellsmere side has murky water too... but not nearly as bad as SM side. Horrible forecasters!! I'm going to hit it again ... hopefully tomorrow. SHOULD be totally sunny with a good breeze. Maybe those spawners will be moved in??
@howabouthetruth21575 жыл бұрын
@@OldLadyAngler LOL......I just didn't want to make my already long comment even longer, but I screwed up myself too, by forgetting to wear some sweat pants ( or thermals ) under my regular pants. I was wearing plenty up top. People think low 50's ain't cold......I challenge them to do it wet and in high wind. That cold wet wind made me feel like I wasn't wearing any pants at all, lol. I mean it was terrible. First off, I aborted going all the way to the south end & started fishing the west bank of Farm 13. Lost 1 fish on a shiner, don't know how big, or if it was even a bass. That's when that weird fog came rolling in from the North. It got me SO wet & cold, I high tailed it for protection behind the big levy that separates both main pools. I remained there for well over an hour, just cold & miserable. I just tossed lures while there & saved the shiners for better places & conditions ( what a joke that turned out to be......lol. ) The forecasters.......yet again.......got it totally backwards. We had the strong winds first thing, and milder throughout the day. AARGH!!! But I tell ya what, if that water had been at least reasonably clean, I'm pretty sure we would've had the best day of fishing yet for this season, in that side. We had that several days of reasonable weather with no more fronts, and with that full moon, I guarantee many ( not all ) moved up to spawn. They'll do it by the new moon too. In our tannic stained waters with lots of grass, weeds ( pads where available ).......it can be difficult if not near impossible to spot them on the beds. But they're there, trust me. It's the bass that are in the same areas STAGING for the spawn that are the easiest to catch, because they are purposely porking up for when they spawn next. A bedding bass won't usually "eat".......they just pick up your lure to move it off, or away from their nest. The late Hugh Crumpler ( one of the best 2 fishing guides ever for the Stick Marsh ) taught me a valuable tip/trick about bedding/spawing bass with live wild shiners: They'll bust your shiner clean out of the water. ( Like they do whether spawning or not ).......The show is on. You've got goosebumps just waiting for them to take the bait for the final time. ( most bass like to bust a shiner up before eating it, they knock most of the shiner's scales off.......others don't care & will eat em right away, fascinating ) .....but here's what he taught me: When a bass just destroys your shiner, often for several attacks, and as far as 40 feet from where it first started......and then nothing.......and more of nothing......ya reel it in, the shiner is dead or near dead, all beat up....THOSE ARE THE BASS THAT ARE IN THE ACT OF SPAWNING. TIME TO MOVE TO ANOTHER SPOT. Because they just won't eat. Then ya move, and catch those that are staging to spawn soon........on lures or live bait. Ain't that neat? I thought so anyway. And Hugh was right. Remember, here in central Florida, the bass spawn is a long, drawn out "conveyor belt" of fish in all 3 phases: pre-spawn staging/spawn/and post spawn. And I'm pretty sure most if not all bass spawn only on the full or new moon of each month.....again, from as early as late December all the way through April. January, February, and March are our 3 main months though, for some reason. But in our lakes chock full of bass, including trophies.......there's SO many, it runs all the way through April........even a few stragglers spawning in early May. Don't forget: the biggest females will spawn multiple times in different nests!!! They produce so many eggs, they don't all develop at the same time. I still need to find those 2 videos for ya!!! I'm pretty confident if you can manage fishing Fellsmere at least 3 or 4 times a month........you'll catch that monster 10 to 14 lb trophy before ya know it. I BELIEVE IT 100% !!!!!! I hope you're using heavy/strong line. If there's wood OR thick grass & weeds nearby, they'll ( not all, but many will ) bulldoze their way so deep into that stuff........ya have to have the tackle/tight drag/line to horse them away from it. Don't get me wrong, I use 12 to 17 lb test on most of my lures, depending on the lure & method. But for my Gambler Big EZ that I drag across those hydrilla & eel grass beds, I use 20 lb Berkley Big Game mono, and for my grass jigs and live wild shiners, I use 25 lb test Berkley Big Game mono. I find that it is the most dependable, manageable, and longest lasting line. For me anyway.......to each his/her own. Braid is a must for spinning reels. It simply casts the braid so much better than super thick mono. Good grief, I just posted an article......lol.
@OldLadyAngler5 жыл бұрын
Oh no worries about the length of this reply! haha. It's GREAT info Steve. Very fascinating stuff! Wow... I didn't see any fog on the fellsmere side. Strange indeed. But I was definitely cold & wet. My spinning gear is 15lb power pro braid. I think it'll handle a big fish. Baitcasters have 20 lb and 50 lb power pro braid.
@howabouthetruth21575 жыл бұрын
@@OldLadyAngler I used to use Power Pro braid on nearly all of my reels for years. I just grew tired of it. But hey, that's just me. I also went through a period.......nearly 4 years.......of using P-Line fluorocarbon. I also tried other top brands of fluoro. And never did I have such a time where line breakage was such an issue. When I switched back to a good brand of mono.......most of my line issues & problems disappeared. That's for baitcasters only. If I ever use a spinning reel, I would still use braid. I guess I also got tired of all the cost & re-spooling. That gets expensive with 10 reels/rods. I usually only bring 6 to 8 at a time. If rocks, steel or concrete seawalls, oyster bars, or concrete pilings are present.........mono is king. KZbin ch: "Salt Strong" is a great bunch of guys fishing mainly inshore salt water. About a year ago, they posted several videos of the best testing methods I've seen to date for comparing line types for durability. Those videos are real eye openers. They were even shocked at what they learned. For their abrasion tests, mono beat out everything. But I had already switched back to mono several years ago on my own. Just a personal preference. The money I save on fishing line.......goes into buying new lures when I need them....LOL!!! It is amazing though, how much farther you can cast a spinning reel spooled with braid vs mono or fluoro.
@OldLadyAngler5 жыл бұрын
@@howabouthetruth2157 Yes I've seen the Salt Strong videos. I love those guys. And you're right.... can cast braid a mile on my spinning set ups. I've gotten my line sawed a time or two when a bass pulled me down into a concrete drain pipe. That braid cut in a heartbeat. I didn't even realize what happened right away. I've never used flouro line... but I really don't care for mono. I know there are times when I should use it... but I'm not about to respool a reel. I don't have spares. I have the same 5 rod & reels and that's it. I probably don't respool often enough... but hey I haven't had any major malfunctions either. I do have a 7'4" heavy rod with a Daiwa Lexa 300 spooled with the big game 20 lb mono for salt water stuff. I hate that rod though. Just feels too long for me.I could actually live with just my 2 Stradics and my curado dc.

I'll try to get out this weekend and film some action... Keep fishin' and making those great videos... next stop, 8 pounder!!! Best wishes ; ) Sean

@robbiehampton64505 жыл бұрын
Went south on west canal to enhanced area then came back same way. I've heard that the SE corner holds the big ones. Might pick a day to head out there. And me and one of the other guys both sang your jingle one our first catch.
@OldLadyAngler5 жыл бұрын
Hahaha! FFOTD!! My favorite song! Southeast corner huh? I went out that way back in October. It was good but that's when there was a ton of hydrilla.

Awsome fish can you put a bass boat in that reservoir

No motors allowed in this water body.... but just across the levee you can use boats. That area over there is called The Stick Marsh and it's legendary. But Fellsmere is paddlecraft only

Thanks for watching. Maybe Lake Ivanhoe or Lake Underhill. You can rent a jon boat at Turkey Lake for 4 hours. It's cheap... $35. That's a really nice lake with some big fish. Check out Orlando Fab Five....... bassonline.com/florida-lakes/orlando-fab-five/

Had to watch after seeing your Oct 2019 PB #2. Like you just started bass fishing two ears ago and Flukemaster and Tacticsl Bassin are there as teachers. Admire your channel editing and flow. What phone lets you call “Whiskey”? (Btw agree about bowfin -only caught one and it WAS crazy)
@OldLadyAngler5 жыл бұрын
Thanks so much for watching! The old phone was an LG G6. Loved that phone but it was time to upgrade. And unfortunately, the samsung doesn't let me use whiskey! I miss my whiskey! I caught my first Bass back in October 2016. It took me forever too. I quickly caught on after that catch.
