Hi, thank you for your videos TJ. I have got the vt600 with dual carb, but one carb seems to be clogged, because de mixture screw shows no response and I have a lot of afterfire. I, and a motorcylce workshop, already cleaned the carb several times, but no improvement. Compression ok, new sparks and spark cables. Now I will buy a single carb (Honda Twister) and use a customized adapter.

If you havebt replaced your intake boots, do that first, your symptoms are very indicative of a lean condition so I'd look at the Intake boots, diaphragms, male sure all the vacuum ports are plugged that need to be. Watch my 4 part series on rebuilding a dual carb, the answer to your problems is careful diagnostics, not buying some terrible idea. Lol

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS nice. Thank you for the information. Next WE I will clean and check the car for the last time. I will also check the small holes with a tiny wire. It must be clogged, checked diaphragm and the rest already. The butterfly valve it a little bit loose, but I think that is not the Problem. When I use choke.... No afterfire. So you are right that my bike is in lean condition.

@@TJBRUTALCUSTOMS I also will check the intake boots. Brought new jets from a local manufacturer with good quality products. Already checked for false air intake. Brought a new spoil... No solve. Are the two carbs interchangeable? I need this bike without a lean working cylinder. It works, but with too much afterfire. Problem is that a new dual carb is to expensive.

I have 1997 Honda shadow 1100 replace coil packs, spark park, wires and spark plug now not getting spark plugs to the front right of the motor and it’s backfiring right at first start multiple times after idles when it’s warming up giving it gas it doesn’t backfire when I use the choke after it warms up and idles down it backfires multiple times then once to try to cut off, but if I put it back on choke it will run need help please

Do you happen to have a video of the removal of a carb from a vt600 shadow vlx? I don't want to mess anything up (previous owner has stripped the screw heads of the float bowl and I have to take the entire carb out to get to them)

@@jnb313ah! Well... I mean, it's efi, you don't really need to do much with it for a long time honestly. They don't function like a carb so it isn't going to need what a carb would. You could run sone injector cleaner through the tank, but an efi system that's a few years old doesn't really need a rebuild.

@@Usmanthemecano I've never used kury grips. I've used biltwell, prism, and a few other just rubber grips. Those wierd grips with chrome as part of the piece are hit or miss.if you glue that big chrome n rubber grip to the sleeve, you're gonna have to cut the chrome part away to get the grip off. Scuffing the sleeve doesn't to anything for a properly fitting grip. Instead of glue, maybe try hairspray. When it's wet,it's slippery, and when it dries it's like glue but won't ruin your grips or bars.

A question that may be covered in Part 2: When reinstalling the main jet holder, should it screw all the way back in, or stop with a couple threads exposed? Mine does the latter and it's entirely possible it's not original, the dumbass that last owned it had a slow jet screwed into the idle mix hole 🤦‍♂️

Buy a new main jet holder and then you'll know. As long as the needle is reaching the main jet, you're good

Absolutely great for daily use. Don't ever put a pod or pancake filter on the honda shadows. No bueno.

ALWAYS DO A PLUG CHOP. What does that mean?

1. Get new spark plug(s), but don't put them in yet. 2. Warm up motor to operating temp on old plugs. 3. Install new plugs. 4. Accelerate through all gears to top gear with throttle pinned. 5. When you hit the top of the top gear, hit the kill switch and pull in the clutch. 6. Remove the spark plug(s) and ride home on the old plug(s). 7. Hold the new plug in a vise and use a hacksaw to cut the threads away from the center electrode. 8. You should see a brown 2mm "smoke ring" at the base of the white center electrode if the main jets are dialed in perfect. 9. if the smoke ring is darker than chocolate brown or taller than 2mm, you're rich on the mains, but if it revs clean to full throttle, you can leave it there and be on the rich side. 10. If the smoke ring is smaller than 2mm or lighter than chocolate brown, you're lean on the mains, go up a size and try again. It is possible to examine plugs by using a good light and magnifying glass rather than cutting the threads away. A single cylinder spark plug can be used to hone in on the right jetting to save the expense of new plug consumption, assuming all carbs are jetted and setup the same. Hope this helps
