I have shown my mom the first episode because she said she wanted to watch a show she hasn't seen yet, and although I would have never expected her to pick on things like that she asked me after maybe 40 minutes are Sherlock and John going to be a couple...If even my mom got that... Oh and Gem, thanks for being one of the people calling LGBT community LGBTQ+, like it's a small thing but it feels nice to be included lol (I don't have a butthurt over it on a daily basics, it's just nice to hear)

When I was talking about the show with my (straight) brother and told him Sherlock was gay he said "Oh why do you always make every character gay not everyone is gay!" In which I replied "No but he IS" and explained Angelo's scene and my bro was just like "oh ok" like,,,that's all it took to convince him. Sherlock IS gay, the writers made it explicit in that scene and people are STILL trying to deny it with ridiculous theories that make no fucking sense!

Gem you rock!! No seriously, that was like the greatest explanation. A long time ago, when analyzing these scenes, sooooooo many people accused the series of queerbating. Clearly, people could see the subtext, but were furious when a "no homo bro" would pop up right after. This would be the greatest plot twist EVER, to have TJLC be real and all those supposed queerbating moments to have been placed to create a foundation for the love story. Genius. I'm going to watch this vid again.

Wait a minute, is it just me or does John not even seem convinced that he wasn't flirting? I've watched this scene so many times, but I never noticed how he frowns while saying "No, I'm not... asking... No..." and how confused he looks. I honestly think he thought about how it would be to date Sherlock in that second but was far to deep in the closet to even consider actually trying it out. I didn't think I could notice anything more in this show but I guess you'll always find new things you never noticed in "Sherlock". Thanks for the amazing episode btw :-)

Keep in mind that "stereotypical gay" traits, behaviors, etc. became stereotypes because gay people displayed them often. Stereotypes are such because of their truths. While we shouldn't stereotype people, we also should not ignore or dismiss that person's real (as real as a fictional character gets anyway) behaviors and traits just to AVOID seeing them as gay... That is gay erasure... And that cannot be eliminated quickly enough.

Hey to the space lesbian. OMG I love the video...her comic timing is spot on and her facial expressions are just...the best. Yepperz...she is preaching to the choir but that does not mean she is not right. Here is my only fly in the ointment. They may choose to never do this for the same reason it never works in heteromance either. Think of ALL the shows who blasted sexual tension for years...finally gave in and boom....boring. X-Files...Moonlighting...LA Law...Bones. When you exploit sexual tension for audiences to cheer on the characters then when they win....the game is over. So...not a Crit on IF...but the when may be wrung out for longer than we all want. So long as they stand on this knife edge, everyone may argue, but they will love the show. It does make me wonder if they will make the leap...because think about what BC said that went viral. "this may be the end" They know they have an audience who believes. But you can imagine that they have seen the nasty comments from the ones who condemn any possible TJLC as icky as well. So...consider that they may be both excited and terrified that they are going to tank in a big way if they look at the whole picture. Then there is China...huge fan base. If they do this...Sherlock will be banned. They may stay with blatant subtext and stand with plausible deniability. That is not gay baiting so much as gentle hetero educating. I am not exactly out in my own alignments. I very much GET John...why but heads with idiots you don't want to date? People never figure me out and though I breed suspicion with my speaking out...they assume I am strictly one of the allies. If I am not dating them, it is none of their business. Lol...that is the attitude I feel like both John Sherlock have. They don't care...but the need to confess all to the world every 45 minutes just seems pointless when you really don't give a damned what they will think of it. Anyway...just a bit of devils advocate for reasons not anti anything. Love the video.

I second this Asexuality is the second biggest theory for Sherlock's sexuality, and while the people who stand behind this have good points, if Sherlock were asexual then how he's presented in the show wouldn't make much sense

GameofTheories I want to see a video focusing on this too. As an asexual myself I came to the show expecting him to be as well, and was not dissapointed because there is a LOT of evidence proving he could be. But as I got into TJLC I saw some differences between how sherlock presents his sexuality and how I (and other asexuals) do. Even though it makes a lot of sense the way the show has been written sets it up for sherlock to be viewed as gay. Or, at the very least, Homoromantic *thats kinda my own personal headcanon because it makes the most sense to me*. but yeah, it really is an interesting topic!

I am also asexual and I really wanted Sherlock to be ace. I'm fine with him being gay, though (TJLC convinced me that it would be awesome if John and Sherlock became a couple). But there are also many options in between. Until they clearly state that he is in fact 100% gay he could still be homoromantic grayasexual/ demisexual or whatever. All we can say for sure (I guess) is that he is not straight (as in: heterosexual and heteroromantic). [And I am one of those people who did not pick up on their (sexual/romantic) love for each other until I started watching videos about it. I blame it on my aceness. My mind just translates everything that is not very explicitely sexual into platonic attraction because that's the kind of love I understand.]
