Dave, this is just another shout-out to say "THANKS" for all the effort you put into these. We're leaving for New Zealand in a few days and will definitely use your techniques when we get home and start editing in Photoshop.

Thanks Dave. I actually liked that we did not save the selections. That is the way that I typically work.

Nice job going back to basics using TK9, especially for those who haven't upgraded to version 3. Thanks so much for all you do and Happy Thanksgiving.

Dave, the Dimmer cation is great for creating a vignette. The Paint Contrast action is great for adding contrast rather than using Burn or Dodge.

Keith, are you referring to the Spotlight/Dimmer TK action? I agree that the Paint Contrast Action is also a good option. However, I do prefer the control I get with the Dodge and Burn Tools, and I'm so accustomed to using them.

@ yes Dave. Spotlight / Dimmer. It’s worth giving it a try. If it’s not strong enough, duplicate the layer. Try adding different strength Dimmers to the edges/corners for a custom vignette. It also works well to darken the top and bottom edges as you sometimes do to “close off the image”.

Hi Dave, thank you very much for this today more classical TK9 approach. 👍 😀 This photograph is very well exposed and editing it was a pleasure. For more complex stuff e.g. color dodge, luminosity painting, split toning I like to make this with a little help of some actions. TK9 is a great wide world. wish you all a nice weekend, Daniel ❤

Another great TK Friday and a lovely image with which to follow along. Having spent that last two weeks working up new Actions. it would have been nice to see them integrated into the current workflow. I understand that some like the long handed method but why create Actions if you are not going to use them? I find that using them at the outset speed up 'Stetting up for Success' and gives more time to the creative aspect of post-processing. I now use opening Actions on almost all my images and love the simplicity. Again, thanks to another great TK Friday.

Nice image and great tutorial Dave. I like the "manual" edits, without actions for a change. Question: I've always been curious as to why you always chose the black-to-white linear gradient and then reverse it. Why not chose the white-to-black gradient from the start? Any particular reason? Thank you!

Thanks for bringing this to my attention. Your comment truly sparked my curiosity. I conducted some experimentation and discovered that we can save even more time by omitting the "Basic Groups" step, thanks to the new (Multiply Brush) feature. With the Multiply Brush, you're always set up with a white brush. As long as the "Reverse" option is unchecked, you only need to ensure that you're using the (Linear Gradient) tool. I'll definitely be changing my workflow as a result of your comment!

Very nice edit Dave. I really like the convenience of limiting to a tone the effect of the Make it Glow Action by applying a Blend If setting, instead of doing it via a tone mask.
