I just got my green belt. My roundhouse kick has always been not all that great. I keep focusing on height as I feel bad when my partner has to hold the pads so low. Thus I would over turn my kick from the hips to gain height. But it's so wrong, my butt is showing (haha) so I land with my back sort of facing the pad.

It’s going to take time but stick to the exercises consistently and you will see progress. If you want thirty minutes worth of exercises to help open your hips up, go to TKDguide.com, there is a free video course called Supercharge your Taekwondo that will help with kicks.
