Why do I prefer ACC to AMS2? ACC has Aris! These videos have made the world’s difference for me. Thanks, mate!

Same for me. I used to dream of women on the beach in bikinis. Now it’s just nightmares, are my tire pressures correct, am I overdriving, should I change my setup......it just goes on and on until I wake up in cold sweats.

Maybe also worth mentioning: if you have a long slide or sbinalla during your run, you also f-ed up and need to start from scratch. Unless you're driving for ten more laps afterwards, you will read higher than normal pressures when you get back to the garage.

I can see the value in knowing how much pressure you can lose per lap just by using different lines with more or less kerb. If those are the lines needed in the race, makes sense to setup around it, assuming you're being consistent with your line. Greatly appreciate you Aris.
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 4 жыл бұрын
Be careful. Once the pressures are up and optimum, the tyres do not lose pressures over the kerbs, or at least it is very rare. So once you have set up your pressures properly, you can abuse the track limits more without losing pressures, during the race. Also the pressure loss is somewhat random. A hard hit will make the tyre lose pressure but by how much is not predictable. So you cannot predict how much pressure you'll be losing during the race if you run lower pressures.

I like your channel Aris, please keep your style and effort. I have more than 500 hours on ACC and race agaist Ai 100 / 100 in mid field. The majority of driving is testing, development and learning about setting up a racecar. However, I have never been able to use the tyre pressure function included in the simulation. "For me", it doesnt work, but I'm not saying its wrong. My only way is to look at the traces from Motec and make the adjustments, then my running hot tyre pressures are exactly my target pressures. I would like to use the ACC function to save time, but I dont wont to press ESC on a fast corner because its not realistic. Thats all I can say.

I drive in race with cutting.. so why ich dont set the pressure this way?
@robertosantoro9685
@robertosantoro9685 4 жыл бұрын
you only lose pressure when tyres are cold and low in pressure. once the tyres are up to the right pressure and temperature they would not lose pressure so you can cut with more ease. just be careful and take it easy for the first couple of laps.

@StintStier 4 жыл бұрын
@@robertosantoro9685 And why cold tires loose pressure more when cutting, etc.? I mean more than warm tires? I don't get it. Tires can overheat when the pressure is too low and then pressure will get up a bit again. So it has no logic for me, don't get it.
@robertosantoro9685
@robertosantoro9685 4 жыл бұрын
@@StintStier when the tyre is cold and below optimum pressure it adheres with less force to the rim so that when the tyre hits something it temporarily deforms and disconnects from the rim in a localized point allowing air to get out. At higher pressure the tyre sticks to the rim and has much less deformation making itself much more air-tight

1:57 The tyre sidewalls let air out at low pressures when they flex too much or get hit by a big bumps. Is that correct Aris ? This is very good info if that's right. Also could the flex from certain corners even without bumps be enough to cause this at low pressures too ?
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 4 жыл бұрын
Correct. Bumps, kerbs, going outside the asphalt and in the grass/sand then back in the asphalt. Generally everything that gives a big hit to the sidewall can cause this small pressure loss. Once the pressures are high, the sidewalls are stiff enough to prevent this. Corners without bumps cannot provoke pressure loss, there's not enough power. It's generally a big sudden hit that provokes it.

@Aris.Drives Wonderful video. Short question: Why are Psi used and not the International System of Units (Pascal)? I thought only USA were out of the league and using Psi? Is it like this for every team and car or only for some teams (or only for the Simracing?) Sounds weird to me as Torque is in Nm, Temperature in Degrees Celsius, Speed in Kph. Was wondering why pressure of the tires was in Psi. Did not check the if the unit used for the external pressure, pretty sure Hpa....
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 4 жыл бұрын
It's a loooooooong history and somewhat forgotten tradition. Also most engineers understand either psi or bar, so yeah we need to at least sit down and write the bar conversion.

@@ArisDrives Many thanks for taking time to answer to my comment! :) Tried to find an explanation, never found sources. No worry, I was only curious. If the norm in the Motorsport world is to use solely Psi, I can understand and fully agree with you that it has to stay as it is. Save your time for some bigger improvements ;)

@@ArisDrives And I would like to thank you again for your hard work. I had a meh opinion of the game, but because you are so passionate and a great teacher, I think I will give it a second chance. Even not liking the game I find your video great and full of useful tips. Will it be possible to add the option of "fixed setup" to the races? Some will argue that it won't make a huge difference, and the good drivers will still be on the podium, and that it only makes the car works for you style without huge chrono improvements. But it makes things even worst when comparing people not willing or capable of tuning the car and good players that will be even better and their cars even easier to drive while others will keep struggling... And you spent such an amount of time to provide "ready to drive" setups, I think it should do. :)

But Aris, why i have to warm up my tires every time, no matter if i use the same tire set or how short time i spent in the setup menu? When i go back to driving, the tires aren't cooled down a little because of standing but they are ice cold. So i have to do another three or four laps before i can aim for a laptime. And why the pit crew isn't simply using tire heating mats?
@ArisDrives
@ArisDrives 4 жыл бұрын
Both because of rules and development compromises. In real life GT3 Tyres can only be preheated outside of the car in "ovens" at max 70°C They cannot put blankets on the tyres while the car sits in the pitbox. GT4 tyres are not allowed to be preheated in any way at all, so you start with the tyres ambient under shadow temperature of around 20-25°C Ingame following the real life rule, we also bring the tyres back to their original temperature (70°C GT3 or 25°CGT4) so that the radius is constant and the setups ride heights and suspension heights can be always verified and matched.
