Cool plane. I just got into planes and after looking at all the older planes out there I ran the numbers and these Rotax 912 based planes and they blow everything away in cost to run over the years compared to the older stuff. Being able to run Unleaded is a huge benefit in price and maintenance.

Very nice. What app do you use to find airports that gave 92 octane or do you find yourself using 100LL most of the time? Thanks.

I actually only buy 93 octane from a gas station when I drive to the airport and put it in containers. I haven't found any airports near me with Mogas or auto gas. There's one airport over an hour away with Swift fuel but it's too far just to gas up. If I go on a cross country I just use 100LL along the way. But that's not most of my flying.

Very nice, I am trying to sell my Piper j3 Cub and buy one of these. You know of any more for sale ? I have been checking online for a while.

Hey Jason, how are these airplanes when flying off a grass strip ? Don’t know if you have but I live on a 2000 ft grass strip with wires on one end and want to make sure I can get it in and out of there. I seen a video that showed a landing and it said if you come in too fast the airplane will float forever. What are your thoughts on this ?

There were a few changes between the 2005 and my 2009, I'm not familiar with anything strange about the rudder pedals. Some earlier models didn't have brakes on the co-pilot side. You can definitely take off and land easily on a grass strip. In Europe where these are from, most people are landing them on grass without any problems. You'll honestly take off in 500-600 feet and clear those wires easily. They can definitely float for a while on landing, it seems like they fly forever in ground effect, but will still be fine with 2000 feet.

I see one of these on internet I think 2005 for $59,000 seems like a good deal. It seems like I chatted with you and others and someone mentioned something about the older ones had something strange with the rudder pedals ? Are these easy to take off and land, also I live on a 2000 ft grass strip. Do they do good on grass without messing up wheel pants. The one online seemed to have low hours but parachute needs repacked. Any advice would be appreciated.

No Configuration details such as Top speed & Maximum Fight Range in Km in Discription Box
@jasonausman2 жыл бұрын
It cruises at 118 kts TAS, burns 5.3 gallons of fuel per hour, and the range is about 530 nm (980km).

Can these be certified as IFR rated?
@jasonausman2 жыл бұрын
That is a tough question, I believe there is a way to get them certified. Many of them are IFR capable but not certified. Since this has a Garmin SL30 nav radio it is IFR capable, but I thought the light sport category is not certified for IMC flight. There are supposed to be some big changes coming to the light sport category in the next couple years, similar to Europe without the 1320lb weight limit, 118 speed limit, and other limitations.

What is stall speed
@jasonausman Жыл бұрын
It's 44 kts clean, 39 kts with full flaps! Super hard to stall
