I understand that black people aren't monolithic, but if she says it was taken out of context I would love for her to explain her point of view. And she may look mixed but so were many slaves. To a racist she is black. Her son is a black man in a society that is not valuing black men and in fact killing them off without any repercussions or remorse. So yes, stand by how you feel and explain. That's the only way for human beings to gain an understanding of each other and learn to turn around our views under multiple lights and thoughts of others. Sharing view points aids in the growth of us all.
