I understand once signing onto the show, everyone has agreed to be on camera, real and raw, but the idea of having an entire film crew with me watching me naked and struggling to bathe while they just record seems so awful and humiliating

I totally agree and I don't know why they would want to film someone using the restroom & bathing, I mean clearly it's a struggle just to get out of bed and move through the house so we know that bathing would be the same so what's the point of being that invasive, idc how much they're paying, you've got to know when to draw the line for the sake of your own dignity ya know

All these women seem to have loving mates. Where the hell is mine?
@CarissaConti
@CarissaConti 3 жыл бұрын
@@MaksGerasim "Your logic is sound..." Okay, Spock. ;D Sorry. But none of these women started out thin and "got obese." They were all obese since childhood/teen years. They always talk about that in their backstory bios, showing pictures of themselves as some roley poley kid, talking about how "food was their comfort" due to some terrible family life or abuse going on. (It's to the point where every story on this show just blends in with the rest.....they're all cookie cutter. Same sad childhoods, same bad eating habits instilled from an early age, using food as a comfort source; then each episode is structured in the exact same scripted way, showing them trying to get out of bed every day, saying nearly word-for-word verbatim scripts about "I don't know how I let myself get this way..." "It hurts to move..." "I dread waking up every day...." while using the toilet and showering. It's literally a paint by numbers script, and nobody questions it.) So by the time their husband found them as adults it was already a done deal. And that's exactly *why* the husbands chose them. They could have easily gone for a normal sized woman, but they honed in on the one that was already topping 350-400 pounds when they first met, then proceeded to keep packing on several hundred more pounds over the years. None of these women started out as stick thin looking models who put on like, 550 pounds after marriage. (Again, the Zsalynn ep. being a great example where she admits her husband sought her out due to having a fetish.) It's not cynicism. Or even an opinion. It's straight up facts. I've watched enough of these shows over the years to know what I'm talking about. The husband/wife, boyfriend/girlfriend relationships on this show are pretty much all toxic and codependent, sometimes outright abusive, with both partners having a host of issues. Watch long enough, with enough episodes and the truth reveals itself. There have been multiple eps where the husbands were cheating and/or se xting with other women, so they weren't the devoted saints they initially appeared to be. Others where the emotional/psychological abuse and purposeful enabling also began revealing itself over the course of the episode. Etc.

For all the people asking why they film them bathing and getting dressed: This is a documentary/reality show. The producers want to film as much of REAL everyday life as possible. The reason why this show is so successful is because viewers see ALL of the struggles that obese people deal with on a daily basis, from getting out of bed, to bathing, relationships and food choices. We get to watch them overcome them or be consumed by them. It's genius really......

That's the thing, when you grow up eating processed food, you do just see it as the food your mom gave you, and you assume it must be healthy and wholesome food. I've lost 65 pounds and I'm 5 pounds away from leaving the obese category. For over a year I have been strong and on track with only a few small slip ups. I do give myself a weekly cheat day so I don't go crazy though. Then I gave myself a break for the holidays. I gained 3 pounds. During my "break" I ate and ate and ate. I was always struggling to reach the level of satiety I could reach before my weight loss: Full and not thinking about eating more food or when my next meal would be. The problem is that I don't seem to have that mechanism anymore. Rather than reach that satiety I just wanted more and more food, hungry or not. When I'm on track I don't think about food, nor am I tempted to eat food. But the level of obsession was very intense while I was on my break. Getting back on track has been more difficult than I thought it would be. I'm finally there but wow that was not what I was expecting. Please be careful giving yourself breaks from weightloss so you don't go thru what I did.

Same mindset as an anorexic wishing their bodies could handle going without food for longer. She is depressed, the only source of happiness comes from food; all of the macromolecules released during eating makes her feel good but of course it doesnt aid her health in the least. Same way with anorexia, after you hit a certain point of starvation and the body starts cannibalising on its reserves, it starts to feel good, cause you are releasing serotonin and dopamine to avoid pain while consuming your own reserves. Thats why these people need psychological aid along with their other lifestyle changes. Because in my experience, a good counselor will hold you accountable on the shit you have fucked up on, plus help you create healthy coping skills so you wont feel inclined to fall back into bad habits.

The most heartbreaking voiceover ever. Damn dude, I’ve had my struggles in life with addiction, unhealthy lifestyle, over eating, etc. but luckily I was able to turn it around and work out every chance I get every day, and now I’m actually purposefully gaining weight (muscle). This made me so grateful for my situation, and that I caught myself early enough for it to be easy for me. It makes me grateful that I hover and my problems and now what I’m going through is so superficial and easy compared to what it could have been. I really hope that she accomplished her goals and regained her health. I know for a fact that it’s possible, but I know that it’s hard as fuck in the beginning. Hopefully she gets to the point where she’s enjoying working out and enjoys her new life.

Addiction is no joke. Whether it’s heroin like what I’ve been through, or food. Addiction is recognized by APA and AMA as a chronic and progressive disease. It needs the proper biopsychosocial intervention. The issues aren’t entirely physical, they start as psychological and then change the neuroanatomy biochemistry and physiology resulting in the addictive behaviors in a positive feedback loop. Breaking the cycle goes against what your body has been redesigned to perpetuate so it’s physically and psychologically painful and traumatic, but over time the brain and body changes and the new habits (working out, etc.) become addictive and replace the old addictions, given the absence of relapse. She will make it, IF she has an apt care team of professionals and clinicians.
