Addiction is originated because of other, more deep disorders, probably childhood abuse/trauma, so yeah he most likely has a disorder like that. Judging by the video, he grew up in a broken family, so that's definitely part of it

He's very active compared to many people we've seen in this show. He spends the entire day out of bed and not sitting. He's a very strong person to be able to push through the pain he feels while staying busy. He seems like such a great person too💕. I'm hoping his journey turns out great.

He sounds like he had a very unhappy childhood. Food became a sort of coping mechanism. To his credit, he sounds like a very caring person who really loves his sister and her kids. Sadly it sounds like some of his family members are the main cause of his unhappiness by the things that they say to or about Lucas. It sounds like he is desperately seeking for some kind of peace of mind and that he would really like to lose a lot of weight.

I see now why former patients were upset. There's no reason to humiliate these people by filming them showering and in undress. An entire film crew! He has a shower curtain so it is the show doing this. Dr Now may be a genius but the producers have gone too far. Most people don't let loved ones see them undressed or shower

I used to be just like that. I decided I wanted to do something about it and I did I went to a doctor and I had to do a lot in order to loose weight in order to get surgery. I myself had a bad childhood and as an adult. I chose to change. And it really upsets me that people in general talk down to people like that. It’s like a drug addict or alcoholic. But people that has been through a lot in their childhood and they don’t know how to deal with it and don’t trust anyone to talk to. Yes food is an addiction. And indeed of looking down on them like your so called Perfect. Well no one is perfect exempt Jesus Christ. No I’m not perfect I’m far from it. I decided to change and loose weight and have the surgery. It was very hard for me. And I lost about 460 pounds. I need skin removal surgery. And before you Actually Judge someone at least try to get to know them. We are just like everyone else but we are big people

@@TaylorTiree like I said it was very hard. I had to learn to eat a smaller portion and not 2 plants. After 3-4 months I lost enough weight. I decided to get up and walk as far as my body would let me. It got easier. It just bothers me is food is an addiction and if that person wants to change for the better they have to put in the effort. And another thing is if a couple has a child and if the child was bullied or something going on at home or something else and there child turns to food to deal with everything going on would they stop loving there child because of it or turn there back on them

I really feel compassion for this man. I have had a long active life but in my old age, thyroid and other health problems have caused me to gain a lot of weight. So, I have seen both sides. Society is not kind to overweight people. I am thankful he has his family for help.

I feel the same as him when it comes to being able to clean myself. Losing my independence like that terrifies the hell out of. I’m afraid of losing my independence more then death himself. I’m a big girl myself and I’m trying to lose wieght so I wouldn’t have to lose my independence and be able to clean myself as I get older. If I ever lose my independence I hope I’m so out of my mind and completely confused 24/7 so I don’t know I am dependent on others. I guess I don’t want to be a burden on others.

It was really nice to see this guy walking around, taking care of himself, cooking and feeding himself, and his nieces and nephews. I have only watched a few of these episodes, and my impression is that most people in this show that are his size don't get out of bed. I understand that each case is different and might depend on bone structure, etc, but I would like to know if my impression is correct. So, all you watchers of this show; do most morbidly obese people have to stay in bed all the time? I wish everyone struggling with this issue the best. Good luck.

I mean, no offense but it's probably a really good thing you haven't been to a grocery store in 4-5 years alone. At least having someone with you could limit you to what you buy. Also, you should genuinely be proud of yourself for getting out of bed every day. I'm only 33 at 6' and 140lbs. But, I'm so depressed that I rarely get out of bed. I only shower maybe twice a week. I just don't see the point in getting clean just to lay in bed and waste the clothes. I dread waking up every single morning, too so I just go back to sleep. There are a lot of other things you do that I don't because of my depression. You're mentally strong enough to at least try to live the best life that you can. I just sleep it away. Soo, be proud of what you make yourself do because there are other people who don't weigh nearly as much as you who don't do half of the things you do, bud.

@NJLev Uuuh, I guess you could say that. Soo, I'm 33 years old and for 12-13 years of my life, I made some very poor decisions that I wasn't able to get away from. I was a drug addict for those years. And during that time, I have lost A LOT of friends to overdoses. I finally got clean in December of 2016 until today. However, I was diagnosed with A.D.D as a kid and when I got clean I was perscribed Adderall that I was on up until March of last year. I ended up getting a new doctor without knowing anything about it and she took me off. Ever since then, I have not been able to live my life to the fullest potential. I also can't get a job because I have 2 herniated disc's in my lower back that require surgery, but my insurance won't pay because of my age. So, I had to move back in with my parents. I don't have any kids or a girlfriend or anything that someone my age would have. I have no money left, and I lost my license in 2016 due to unpaid fines that I can't pay off. However, things should start looking better in the next 2 weeks as I found a Dr who is getting me back on my Adderall. Then I'll be able to get out of bed and figure out what I have to do in order to get this surgery. But, as of now I just feel like a total failure. I literally have 0 friends left so I talk to nobody. I'm alone 24-7. But, once i get back on my meds that I need, I'll be able to get stuff done and start getting the feeling of accomplishment. It's sad to say that in order for me to be happy again is to get back on medication, but some people just need it and if that's what it takes, then that's what I'm going to do. I refuse to fully give up and I know brighter days are only a few more weeks away.

Addiction is serious but there's always a way to overcome it! I saw my cousin going from obese to now he's really fit muscular, doing investments and started a business, travelling around. It's not too late! Life is beautiful. Specially in the little things... Going for walks, talking to a family member, eating a good meal, hearing birds chirping, watching a cartoon or favorite movie, just chilling with your pet. If you don't already or adding 1+ you should consider getting a puppy or kitten, and grow with them, they bring a lot of company and love, they become ur best friend fr. From personal experience too. I don't know your beliefs but i know that Jesus loves you. We are human and we make mistakes but God's mercy is new every morning. May God renew, heal and fill any void and emptiness in your heart and mind with His Joy, Peace love & presence. With a sound mind. In Jesus name! • Psalms 40:1-2 " I waited patiently for the Lord; And He inclined unto me, and heard my cry. He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, he set my feet on a rock and gave me a firm place to stand." The past is in the past. Let go of all baggage and begin fresh. a common theme ive notived with this show is that the patients often have a huge family with a lot of siblings. i think its an example of how parnets cant always give enough attention to every kid when they have so many.

Even at 600 lbs he's kidn of cute. He was a really cute kid so makes sense I guess. Also, for what its worth, despite his large size, he doesn't seem lazy at all and is actively taking care of his sister's kids. Usually the people on this show just sit around all day
