Safely charge at 5 volts, 0.5A charge rate. through USB2.0 port of computer. This supplemental charge board for 2019 versions of T16 transmitter does not support "fast-charging" with Power Delivery chargers. Gonna upgrade?🤔There IS a status LED which illuminated Red when charging next to USB-C connector! This red colored LED light goes out (turns off) when batteries are fully charged. Thanks to Tomas Konkol for bringing it to my attention! It is nearly impossible to see with the old-style antenna plate cover which hides it. You'll either need to modify the antenna plate cover to view it more easily OR get the new version antenna plate cover 👍As of March 28, 2020 it appears the USB-C charge board does not work well with some high-power, "fast-charging" wall chargers. By "not working well' I mean it may make your transmitter inoperable and you may not be able to connect to your computer through that USB-C connector anymore. If you choose to use internal charge board for charging, at this time, I would recommend only using a USB 2.0 port on your computer to do so. Should I find out any additional information on this issue, I will update this comment.

I do not feel good about any of the FAA's proposal. I'm hoping for the best as we all are. I sometimes wonder if they are using a sneaky tactic here. They come out swinging in the beginning and then change a few of rules for us. It will make them look like they are working with the RC hobby. If this was the case I dont think they would give us much more. The government has been going through these situations for years and years. We have not gone through anything like this. Hey great video Tmac! I would like to know the difference between a t16pro and the t12pro. Would the T12 Pro be a good purchase?
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
Hey fifofito! T12 has a few less button and switches than the T16 (which you can program to do various things using the OpenTX operating system firmware). To learn the basics of OpenTX, you can start here: kzbin.info/www/bejne/oqbcY4hmacSKfMU . T12 has a 2.42" LCD screen whereas T16 has a 4.3" color screen. T12 has a mini-USB whereas T16 has a USB-C connector. Both have internal charging, internal multi-protocol module and plug-n-play TBS Crossfire support. My OpenTX and T16 Playlists (except fro custom T16 images) applies to both since both use OpenTX. Same with my Crossfire Playlist. Is T12 a good transmitter? Yes. Hope this helps!

I do not have a power bank to charge it from. When charging from wall outlet, no you cannot use it while charging as the transmitter must be off. There is no "charge-level" indicator light showing how much it has been charged. USB-C connector allows you to use Power Delivery (PD) to charge faster than "normal" USB connector. Advantages are in video. See section of video showing light on when plugged into charger

You can, as long as the receiver's protocol you have in the RC Airbus is supported by the multi-prptocol module (MPM). Hey gmodesike! T16 should work with Spektrum fine. Thanks once again buddy for the awesome video! I will be doing this for sure? One question I have is, about how long did it take to charge from the 1 bar til full?
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
Didn't time it exactly, had other things I needed to do. Your mileage will vary also depending on type of cable and charger you use. For example, I only used a USB-C to USB-A cable with a non-PD wall charger=not optimized for power/speed. I've ordered a USB-C to USB-C PD-capable cable and PD capable charger (think their links may be in video description), but I haven't received them yet.
@AppA-Bison_FPV4 жыл бұрын
Nice video Tmac. Can you tell me how long it will take to charge it? And will it be safe to let it charge over night? My nightcore charger can charge 4 x 18650's within a couple of hours, but not having to take out the batteries will be much nicer.
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
Your "mileage" on charge time will vary based on the type charging cable and charger you use. To maximize power/fast charge capability I believe you'll want a USB-C to USB-CC cable with Power Delivery (PD) capability and also a USB-C port charger (like a wall charger) with the same PD capability. I believe I'v listed examples in the links of this video you can check out (there are others but the ones I'v listed are the ones I've ordered). I did not specifically time my charging as I used only a USB-c to USB-A (without PD capability) to an old (USB-A) wall charger (without PD capability). When I returned 2-3 hours later it was charged. The type of charger you have/get may allow you to charge it overnight (it may sense when batt's are fully charged and stop charging).

As others have said, great video! Unlike other persons videos you not only showed the mod in detail, but then plugged it into a 5v source and showed what the charge status Led’s would do when charging. No other videos showed this in my opinion, this important conclusion to the mod! But, always a but, you could have added one more detail that has not been covered. What’s the charge current going into the batteries? Jumper hasn’t posted any useful info I can find on that. My 3700ma 18650’s verified to be at least 3500ma, had a charge on them when I did my current test but it gave me something to go on. 2A 5V usb cube and a inline usb volt/current meter showed 1.30A being drawn from the 5v cube and it stayed at 4.95/5v for the rest. After 30-45 min the current dropped down to 60ma. This tells me some form of regulation is happening. Based on this first test I’m assuming my batteries would fully charge in 2.8 hours or less. There doesn’t seem to be a end of charge indication so setting a timer is my option. I’m using the usb-c cables in your links and working great! I did see some mention of this mod supporting lipo charging also? No facts to back it up yet but that’s good news if true. Keep up the good factual videos. So many just skim but never show details and in our diy family, details are so important!
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
Thanks Glen Roe! Glad the cables are working well for you! I have seen NO info on this mod supporting LiPo charging at all. As you're aware, LiPos should be balance charged. I'm fairly certain this mod is not a smart balance charger. Attempting to charge LiPos with this mod could be extremely dangerous. LED light goes out when fully charged if I remember correctly. Recharging to verify for you - yes, confirmed - LED turns off when fully charged
@short5stick4 жыл бұрын
Does it balance charge too?
@TMacFPV4 жыл бұрын
I have found NO indication from manufacturer spec's (or anything else) that this is a "smart balance charger" for LiPo batteries. This is a USB-C connector board which allows you to more quickly charge your Li-Ion batteries (with correct cable & charger as mentioned in the video) as you would with a laptop computer. Attempting to charge LiPo batteries with this device may result in bad things like fire, explosion, injury, etc.
