Dr. Forrest Allen, Certified Sports Chiropractor with Pro Chiropractic in Bozeman and Belgrade, Montana describes the anatomy related to the Temporomandibular Joint (TMJ). Then Dr. Allen demonstrates an effective Chiropractic treatment for JAW PAIN!
TheTMJ acts like a sliding hinge, connecting your jawbone to your skull. TMJ dysfunction are a type of temporomandibular disorder or TMD can cause pain in your jaw joint and in the muscles that control jaw movement.
The exact cause of a person's TMJ disorder is often difficult to determine. Your pain may be due to a combination of factors, such as genetics, arthritis or jaw injury. Some people who have jaw pain also tend to clench or grind their teeth (bruxism).
In most cases, the pain and discomfort associated with TMJ disorders is temporary and can be relieved with self-managed care or nonsurgical treatments. Surgery is typically a last resort after conservative measures have failed, but some people with TMJ disorders may benefit from surgical treatments.
If you are suffering with TMJ / TMD, contact the Team at Pro Chiropractic in Bozeman, Montana for an effective non-surgical treatment approach!

I have obvious TMJ and it's slowly happened over 5 years now sooo bad! My jaw is very crooked and my pallette is drastically slanted. I live in a small town in NW Missouri. I'm just wondering what I should do for pain and getting realigned.

I have an autistic / developmentally disabled daughter. When she opens her jaw bone right at the joint actually pops out about 1/4 inch when she opens her mouth, with a loud pop of course. It causes her jaw to wiggle side to side as she opens her jaw. She also has chronic Bell's Palsy that keeps getting better and then when she's almost back to normal, boom, it hits again and she's back to no motion on that side of her face. I'm thinking there might be a connection between the two, but can't find much of anything about it on the net.
