I was hoping that Leroy would be like Feng or Shaheen with his fundamentals, Miguel or Lei with his constant usage of a stance (my dream Leroy was one that uses defensive techniques as his main offense (counters, parries, dodges, etc) and offensive techniques as his defensive tools (super armor, orbitals, fast attacks, etc.), and Wang's parry system. Maybe even having it so that all of his attacks are worse in damage than any other character, and above average frames, but counter hits recieve the highest damage increase in the game, and damage scaling in combos that start from counter hits is decreased by about 50% (IE, normal combos have their damage scaling end at about 30-40%. His would theoretically end at 45-60%). Normal combos would have slightly decreased scaling as well of 25%. (Instead of 30-40% scaled damage at the end, itd be 38-50% scaled damage). This would also mean that on counter hit, his attacks would do full damage for quite at few more hits than normal.

Dude, company needs to sell new chars. New Fuckyourmum should be even stronger than Leroy so the game is "balanced" as all new chars. will be much better than the old cast and then slowly get nerfed until they are just a little bit better than them. Then start erasing the old cast as the roster gets too big, so you can sell old chars. as Jin shippuden or Kazuya 2 with new dlcs. What do you play it on? On PS4 I started using Josie a month ago and only fought 5 Leroys.. They are slowly diminishing. Since you use Kazuya it should be easier for you since you have 50/50. Just lab up a little bit more and learn when to counter and how to get big damage off of counters.

Tekken 7 has been a fairly mediocre experience for me but at least I never felt like the game itself let down (even if some of the gameplay changes were not to my preference). Leroy is the first time that the game itself feels wrong. At this point the entirety of Tekken 7 is a wash in my book. It's not even that fun anymore.

Why not just ban Leroy until they fix him? Very simple solution. I'm not an advocate of banning in general, but sometimes it's the right choice. When 1 character is destroying what makes the game an interesting and worthwhile competitive game (no one want to watch 64 Leroys fight each other) the answer is clear. This is the very reason why, although to a lesser extent, I finally gave up on SSBM. After spending 2 fucking years just learning the basics of that game (not exaggerating) it made no difference because the same 4 fucking characters (with some VERY, VERY sparse exceptions) are what you always see in finals, and they aren't even interesting to watch. Some people like to ogle Fox players and jerk it to waveshining (I don't give a fuck how hard it is to do; overpowered is overpowered. By the way, it's not even that hard to do and it looks stupid as fuck), but I find that shit ridiculously boring and stupid. Equally so is Falco's stupid drill combo bs, and his goddamn lasers which are probably one of the most overpowered things in any game ever. I'm adamantly opposed to even referring to SSMB as a "fighting game," because 1) it's not, 2) it isn't even possible to play the game in a remotely interesting way without disabling about 98% of the game's features, 3) the number of viable characters is far too low, and 4) many people who are very much into SSBM don't even play or suck major ass at real fighting games. I met Mango in real life once and he barely even acknowledged my greeting. He was probably just nervous when I approached him because he's like a little kid compared to me (then and now).

I can see Namco making Leroy overpowered on purpose as plausible only in a few situations, such as if he were a guest/non-original character, or system specific/exclusive. Prior to around the time of Tekken Tag 2 there did not seem to be a highly formulaic and standardize protocol for designing techniques and characters in Tekken games. That is to say, the so-called move archetypes which we Identify today were not as clearly defined in terms of frame data and properties. Just for example, today, with few exceptions, techniques are generally not faster than 10 frames, lows are almost never completely safe on block, and mid hitting attacks are almost never faster than 12 frames and if they are they are highly situational or have some sort of obvious weakness(s). Leroy has a move which violates this 3rd principle of mid attacks in Tekken games, and this is far from the only example. Leroy makes us feel as though Namco has forgotten everything they've learned about balancing over the past 20 years of Tekken, or maybe they're just trying something completely insane that's never been done before (like that time they made almost every character overpowered in some way in Tekken 5, lol sarcasm).

He's broken, but for some reason I don't have much trouble so far. The move I think that accentuates how plentiful Leroy's accessibility is his 10 frame string. It's a high mid high mid (launcher), and really catches a lot of people who ducks it, wall splats, guaranteed on counter hit and if I remember correctly wall breaks. That's the move I'm envious of the most from Leroy.

What proof? There were 6 Leroys in top 8 for EVO Japan. Arslan lost to two Leroy players. Generally at high level, Leroy doesn't need to spam parry and it's not a powercrush so you can still break throws while the parry whiffs. He has a full set of insanely good tools in neutral and beyond range 1. His b+1+2 was a nightmare for pro players at evo and it recovers way too fast on whiff too.

Leroy would have been a popular sell just from design alone. Giving him an entire set of broken moves made almost everyone who actually likes playing the game avoid using him. If they gave his kit a unique concept of parry evade and ch gameplan, that would have just made him more popular. Make him fast only when his moves on hit or he gets only plus frames behind his unique parry. Heck even lock some moves with jf inputs or make him hard to play rushdown again PARRY,EVADE AND CH. These points alone, would have made him -Even cooler than the reveal -Used with ACTUAL skill and as a special character, that not a t6 bob or t1 king.Not this op ass bs. -become a widely accepted Character that MAYBE gets picked for the next roster in t8. -and among other things that i wil not list because this is getting to long. Leroy has made me quit trying Tekken. I don't even play much online games, but I see Bamco Executives, or maybe even the Dev team, being absolutely cancer like a typical modern game company with this pay2win garbage and it makes me just give up. This is why I buy my console games from a third party after they've lost relevancy in giving the company optimal revenue or I buy them used because it's hard to trust executives and developers to do good and fun things instead of trying to find the easiest way to please the investors. I bet even after getting abused like this, almost everyone is going to crawl back to Bamco and the Devs, or be naive and give them another chance, and give them more money to abuse them over and over again.

Although Leroy certainly has several broken moves, one should not "psych one's self out" when facing a Leroy player. Only at the highest level of competition can players truly exploit broken characters/moves to the point where one's best efforts will fail against them. That's because these pros at the highest level have also mastered all the important fundamentals of the game (e.g. spacing, high-mid-low, okizeme, throw breaks, juggling, max combos, just frame moves, , etc.).
