I only recently beat this game because I watched Mike play it. As a kid, I could never beat it because of one thing: I would rushing through the Technodrome, as opposed to taking things one step at a time, especially in the Gold Room just before you get to Shredder. Up to this day I haven't got the feel when enemies would spawn there, and it feels different to the rest of the game. So instead of holding down the d-pad going through the T-Drome, in certain spots, one button push per step would give me enough time to react the enemies spawning, and made sure I didn't lose my scrolls by picking up single shurikens. And I have Mike to thank for completing that part of my gaming childhood. lol

i found this game was easy except for stage 5 and 6 is where i have problems the bomb dam stage is easy all you do is rotate your turtles it makes it easier i only use 2 turtles out of 4 on the bomb stage

Speed runners know when to press start on the title screen, since the RNG for technodrome location is based on that, to force it to the close location in area 5.

Mike wish I coulda seen this LIVE.. Did u forget out yet that you can stand on the ladders in the dark level before the technodrone. In one of the houses with the fn spiders and birds that are terrible, I'd love to see you get the scrolls in the house, whereas in your DEFEATED TMNT video you didn't know how, respectfully. So I'd love to see you do that brother if u ever strap up for Shredder again!

In the Japanese cartridge, you can press the select button during the intro, then start to skip levels. You can start at the "Find the Technodrome" stage if you're lucky, so I never understood why people thought this game was hard until now. LOL

Very well done. The last part of the game is meant to be done with the scrolls to mitigate the rng. As a kid I didn't know about their pwnage and getting them was hard at the time.

Thanks Mike. I always waited until the end of the game and went to the building in the upper-left (with the spiders), to get the scrolls. It was a tedious hassle. Getting them early is a good tip.

This is really badass! You did it not only with just the weakest turtle, but also with no scrolls and in less than an hour! That's pretty damn legendary for this game. when you collect scrolls in level 3, go in the building in he right, go untill you find the scroll. the, you will be in a sewer, were a pizza will be there. grab the pizza and fall in the water, you go out faster

With the 3.0 update on Super Mario Maker 2, I experimented with the SMB3 Frog Suit and Mechakoopas with frikkin laser beams. I took inspiration from the dam level in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles for the first half of the level. The second half? Battletoads is the game of choice, though I want the section to be more fun and intuitive.

Aww man...you're making me want to go back and play this and attempt to beat it. Everybody used to bug about the dam level but when I was a kid I though it was fairly doable. It was Area 3 with the sewers and rooftops that caused me to cave.

I think the outside of the Technodrome should have been really large. And that you had to climb up to the top and then fight enemies while attacking the eyeball. And then once you defeat the eyeball you get to go inside the Technodrome. That way the outside and inside of the Technodrome would feel in scale.

@arcaneguyver I'd love to see a homebrew of this game where they replace the level of you fighting the outside of the Technodrome with this really large Technodrome that you had to climb for a long while while fighting enemies. Then at the top fighting enemies and the giant eyeball. Then you drop down inside the Technodrome. I'd love to see if the programmers of this game are still around to see what they'd think of that.

Mike you seem to rely a lot on subweapons, which flatten the differences between turtles. Why not trying a no-subweapons run? That would be the next challenge. If you pick one up by mistake, just do never select it, that should be allowed. This was an amazing stream btw!
