As a person who has about 1k hours in the game (TW3), read all the books many times and listened to the audiobook (not the usual one, but one where each character has its own voice actor, narrator, there are environmental sounds, etc.) I am absolutely disgusted with what which side Netflix took the story and characters My heart hurts but watching your reactions was pure pleasure

@@godzillazfriction It is not that she is evil, they were sentencing people even when slightest rumors about that person appeared. OFC she smiles, she was just saved from death. @niktniewiem4785 Жыл бұрын
@@godzillazfriction dude, her smile has nothing to do with her personality. Again, you missed one of the lessons this game gives - don't judge the book by it's cover. You absolutely omitted the fact that in this world there are people burned at stakes and people come to see it and everyone cheers and smiles, do you really think everyone is evil there? It is a brutal world, and people are just people. The point of this animation was to show that the death sentences so easily adjudged are as evil or mayby more evil than the deeds they are adjudged upon and no one should have the power to kill others based on his assumptions. This is the lesser and greater evil Geralt speaks about here, and despite he says he'd rather not choose between them, he does, and in the games he often does, it is a glimpse of his character. The girl has nothing to do with it here, she is used as a rethorical figure, she can be evil or not, this is not the point, the point is that no matter how she is, fighting evil with evil is evil, and people can be wrong so you should not judge easily.

It is 'show don't tell' in the purest form. We don't have to be told the soldiers of Nilfgaard are bad news. They are jerks who hit a girl. They are not just following orders, they want to make fun of it. And Geralt wants to be an emotionless professional, but he is not. Vesemir tries to be a mentor who preaches detachment, but he knows it is wrong even before Geralt makes his move. The dialogue is minimal and we still know everything about the characters. Even the girl who is desperate and might have looted and eaten corpses, but doesn't immediately go for vengeance. The Netflix show is lacking in this department.
@Amokhunter
@Amokhunter Жыл бұрын
Here is my take on the accusations: I imagine her being a medic. So looting, yes, to recover the cost of medicines, alcohol for disinfectant, gut/twine for sowing, needles, etc. Killing of the wounded, yes, it is called granting mercy, because when you come upon some poor sod whose leg has gone green, there is nothing much she could have done, except for a quick death. The other option would have been letting the poor bugger go insane with fever due to rot and infection and die a couple of days later in indescribable agony. As for the cannibalism: It wasn't uncommon to cut the twine used to sew up a laceration with your mouth, because scissors/shears are expensive, that would have made her look as if the was chomping down on someone. In other words: Country Bumpkin who has no idea how to tell his left from his right and his only use for paper is using it as kindling comes upon an Oxenfurt-Educated field medic doing her job.

The world of the witcher is a scary and dark place with real life brutality, xenophobia, racism, war, famine, literally just as you said, it feels real. A lot of the NPCs seem to be real people, not just standing there to wait for you. My advice for the game is to try your best to do all side quests you can find and everything else. Side quests are just a delight in witcher 3. We want to see them too so do not be shy to go wander off and do random missions.

The books are based on the legends and life in old Europe in the 1200's. The monsters and fairy tales are familiar because they have passed down into modern stories. The Witcher three game did a good job at sticking to the theme and feel of the books and Netflix did not ( at all). Don't cut up ( edit out) your game play to much, You will be amazed the amount of followers You will get from a full playthrough and make sure You get Hearts of Stone and Blood and Wine, they are a must and are maybe even better than the base game. My favorite detail in this trailer is when he goes for his sword and Vesimir says, "FINE. Just make it quick." It’s a basic matter of targeting the main threat first. Also there was no holding his ground, he went to free their prisoner and as said he struck first. One thing I can say to playing Witcher games (1,2,3) don't SKIP the secondary quests! A lot of the nuance is found in that! All the things you saw in the trailers are actually found in secondary quests (and these are some of the memorable ones). There is a reason, after Witcher 3, every other RPG tried to copy it ;) so be prepared to spend a loong time into the universe (close to 200 hours depending on how much you want it ^_^). But it is worth it in the end :) Because once you see it and feel it... you can't go back ;)

I played Witcher 1 and 2 going by the book and what is supposed to be the ideology of a monster hunter. The paradigm that The Witcher 3 presents is that the story is based on rescuing Ciri, who for Geralt is like his own daughter. In that story arc, I forgot the precepts and put myself in the role of a father, and all these cinematics in which these types of injustices are presented make sense ... That is what could happen to your own daughter and you cannot turn a blind eye.

If you think this is too much for Netflix, who only pretend to create a gritty world. Read the books, Ciri's story, in particular is something those showrunners would never ever in no way, shape or form, would ever find the gut to tell as it is. I'll not spoil anything, but even GRRM didn't go that hard on his characters in comparison, Ciri's transformation is very dark and very disturbing. Almost all her steps of becoming a young woman from an unruly child is fucked up, conditions dire, stuff she had to put up with, people she was forced to align herself with are all maxed up to the extreme Sapkowski takes the conventional European fairy tale, folktale tropes and twists them into a fucked up situation People tend to give credit to the game's writers, which they should, but the foundation of Witcher universe is so solid, characters are so neuanced and so well written it's a bit easy for them to blend it in to the game

Back in the days those scavengers, be they male or female, would have been hanged by any armed forces immediately to the cheer of most of the bystanders. These subjects scoured the battle fields after the battle and killed of wounded soldiers unable to help themselves and then looted their stuff from the dead bodies. If you look at the scene carefully, you'll notice that Geralt didn't make any judgement at all, just like he had said, but merely removed the overzealous tormentors and then left the issue 'hanging' there.

Now you gotta check out "The Sword of Destiny" trailer. The Witcher games are VERY much focused on the gray side of nature including that of human nature. There are no clear cut good and evil answers to anything which is what gives the game that realism. Monsters aren't just there to be evil creatures that you fight. Each one runs off of their own instincts much like how you would have to kill a bear charging at you trying to maul you. It is in their nature, not because they are some evil spawn from hell. People are complex in this rather than just one-dimensional people who are either on the good side or the bad side. You have to choose what you think is right based on your own decisions and live with the consequences whether they are what you wanted to happen or not. There is corruption in the higher ranks of governments but still a sense that some of them are trying to do what they believe is best for their people whether right or wrong as well as all the way down to your basic peasants doing what they feel they have to just trying to survive in horrible conditions by whatever means they can. Even if someone can be seen as evil, you can understand what led them to be the way they are and make the choices that they did. While this game has a lot of freedom for you to explore and enjoy it as you see fit like you would expect from an open-world game, it is very story driven and even some quests that seem small and insignificant can branch into something meaningful and important. It is extremely well-crafted. The game is not canon to the books and it takes place after them, but they respect the books and all the lore in them with the greatest of care. (Especially compared to the butchering of the Netflix series) You can tell the devs loved those books as much as they loved pouring themselves into developing the game. It isn't required for you to play the first two games as it is chalked full of backlore and also is very much designed to be a game you can step into without knowing anything about the series or books. Though, naturally, you will get a lot more out of the nostalgia of character and event references from the past if you played the first two and read the books. That is unavoidable. Who knows, might make you want to go back and play the first two. Though, I would wait as the first game has not aged very well (the second is fine) and they are working on a remake of the first.

"Wha..wha...what are you doing?" "Killing...Monsters..." Cold, savage,... this cinematic is from 8+ years ago, but its still awesome!! Witcher 3 is one of the best games ever made!

This trailer is the one that perfectly captures the world of The Witcher the most. It is NOT a nice place, and you come across some of the scummy people more often than not. You've got to admire Geralt (and other witchers) for usually being unbiased and neutral when it comes to things lol. Heavily suggest playing the game because even though it's the 3rd it's series it's written to accommodate new players and new people to the world of the witcher in general. So if you play, don't worry about not knowing things or people- it will usually explain/show you. Also every person in the game is 10x more enjoyable than the series portrays R.I.P Eskel my fave :(

The Witcher series has always centered upon The Price of Neutrality. Being a good person... But.... "Killing monsters" was the most badass line I ever heard in video games...

Cool thing about the Witcher is that this girl might be in deed responsible for those crimes and those soldiers were just following the orders. If you hide your emotions and think about that the choice is not so obvious. If you add to that what might be the reason for girl to commit those crimes- if she was greedy, or maybe she was revenging someone she lost in this conflict (Nilfgard is the occupant) or she was helping the resistance or she was just hungry because she lost everything in this war, it adds another layer to this story. It’s difficult to choose side if you don’t know the whole truth. But there is small hint in the trailers what kind of person she turned out to be.

Just a little context... in Witcher 3, Nilfgaard is more or less setting up as an expansionist empire, and it's already steamrolled a couple of countries under heel, like Temeria, Cintra, Velen, and working on Redania. The countryside in Velen is wartorn and the various villages are desperate and scraping for anything they can to get by... so the charges against this woman of looting, cannibalism, and murder of the wounded stand a good chance of being legit, if motivated primarily by desperation rather than greed or malice.

I love this trailer the most out of all of them. Just because of the end. The soldier asks Geralt, "What are you doing" And Geralt answers, "Killing monsters" Fucking fabulous. It shows the mentality of the game incredibly well. Sometimes humans are the real monsters.

The "woman" he rescued from the 'greater evil', was a mass-murdering vampire. The entire game is about not knowing which is 'the lesser evil' [short story] and even if you "would rather not choose at all", the game will force you to - and might never tell you what the consequences are.

T - this is one of the important pieces of the game that makes it so beloved by fans. The player can choose the type of Geralt he/she wishes him to be. That's the point of the roleplaying aspect of the game - is the choices we make in the game the steers the story and molds Geralt's personality and morals. The player could have chosen to let her die at the hands of mob justice, or saved her and killed those acting in the name of "justice". There are many such choices throughout the game that makes your playthrough your own.

so glad you like it! i'm sure you'll love the game! i've played the W3 and read most of the books. it's a pretty well made fantasy world, and cd projekt red stay way truer to the book lore than netflix. if you would read the books, you'd think it's a completely different show with some themes and characters borrowed from sapkowski's books.

The feeling I got was she wasn't guilty of anything...but she had definitly ticked off this "murder squad," and they were using the loose authority they had been given to kill her. "No Man's Land" is Velen...a region between the armies of Redania in the north and the Empire of Nilfgaard in the south which is still up for grabs in the war. In the game there is a scene where it's made clear the two Kingdoms have not yet started their summer campaigns. They've been going at it for possibly years and the game starts in this contested area of Velen which is not completely controlled by either side. These guys are almost certainly mercenaries sent out to try and get some sort of power in this area...the trailer identifies them as being in the employ of Nilfgaard, but the Redanians are hanging, burning and butchering just as many people as the southerners. Nilfgaard, Redanians, Bandits, deserters from both armies...and Monsters! And Elves and some monsters aren't as bad as the humans. And the civilians can be just as brutal to a lone person they don't know. You need a scorecard to keep track.

The reason Henry acts the way he does as Geralt is because of the games. He is a massive fan of the books and the games. He is not longer in the netflix series due to the team not wanting to stick to the source material (as to why season 2 felt so off). But yeah Doug cockle (VA for Geralt in the games) is the goat lol.
