I just test drove the 2020 Select model and I really like it. I have a 2018 Mazda 3 GT with all the options. This is the best compact car out there. It’s beautiful! Sport mode does help with the acceleration- it’s really a fun car! And actually really luxurious! Much nicer then a Civic and definitely better then a Corolla.

Yes i really love the hatchback. I just love the way that they look. I have an 07 Nissan Versa with only 40 thousand original miles it is the hatchback also. I should keep my Versa for another year but i am also positive that i will get a Mazda 3 hatchback next summer.

Just bought a Mazda3 g20 Touring Sedan. It's my 5th Mazda and definitely the best car I've driven. It's comfortable and relaxing to drive with great fuel economy currently averaging around 6.8 litres per 100klm and should improve. Still loving my new Mazda Graham Riddell

@Twilight 8368 I agree about older Hondas, but their 1.5Ts have had lots of problems, especially with oil dilution, and CVTs are a deal breaker for me. Mazda is one of the last companies standing by traditional 6 speeds and naturally aspirated engines which are going to be longer lasting than any turbo and CVT

I bought 2014 model Mazda Hatchback (soul red color) in Sept. 2013, and I have been very happy with my car. I compared the technical specifications of Mazda with other Japanese compact cars of Toyota, Subaru and Honda. In everything Mazda3 Hatchback satisfied me more than other cars, such as the wheel base, horse power, torque, gas mileage, car interior quality and others of Mazda3. Many things come with the car from the beginning without buying additional accessories. I will buy again Mazda3 Hatchback if I buy a new compact car in the future.

I have had the 3 AWD sedan since April last year. It may be a little more pricy than competitors but well worth the extra cost. Handling is great and actually is fun to drive. I got a couple remarks that engine is so quiet especially when stopping. Gas mileage is great and it’s very close to what it’s advertised. Cons: - A little bit small for ppl who are used to SUV. I’m 5’9 and have no problem sitting behind the wheel. Again this is a compact car so that’s expected. - Bose system is pretty decent not insanely good. It would satisfy most people. I would no doubt buy it again if I’m in the market for a daily commute car. Get the mid trim as it offers good values for money. Same Skyactive engine as the CX-5 but a lot lighter! I love the Sport mode and use it to pass cars on highways. The torque is really adequate. This car is not the fastest but actually a fun car. Finally two complains, the computer fails to give a correct Average mileage per gallon. Mine shows a very low number which I know is simply not accurate. Mazda Radar Cruise Control is not as smooth as Honda, same for Lane Assist. The Stop and Go sometimes doesn’t work as intended and I have to give the gas petal a tap. Honda’s system is just superior, very smooth. Hopefully this can be fixed with software updates.

@@t6hp As a trainer, that is such poor advice. That's like saying if you do bench press for a year you'll have big biceps. In order to stress calves enough to cause a workout effect, you have to flex them by pushing up onto your toes or pressing weight by extending your feet. With squats your heels don't leave the floor.

Sedan looks great, i agree. Having said that, I also love the distinctive (and Alfa Romeo Brera looking) hatchback style. Kudos to Mazda for producing something that stands out from all the other compact hatchbacks out there without going full bizzarre looking. (See Civic hatchback)

The hatchback cargo room only expands if you remove the blind and pack items up to the roof which is technically illegal because it obscures rear vision, cargo compared to the boot lip level of the sedan, the hatchback has less cargo room according to Mazda's official specifications.

Then bloated Volkswagen Tiguan, which I own, has about 184hp so I think 186hp in this compact car is absolutely amazing and should be considered as more than adequate. I might be wrong but for me it’s plenty and I ask how much more do you really need in a non performance compact? Thinking about horsepower in cars of 15-20 years, this think is excellent! Thanks Dave! You were very fair and reasonable in this review. I agree with you as I’ve owned 3 Mazda 3’s now. I have a 2021 Mazda CX-5 now because I needed something with a taller seat position after a car accident left me with spine and back injuries.

I wish Mazda would keep everything they're doing but just add some glowing ambient light that shines down on the gear shifter, or at least some ambient lighting in the dash and door trim. Something subtle and not like a night club so many new cars have. It's too dark at night in the car.

What is a good amount to offer the dealership IF you were attempting to pay all cash for a new Mazda3? (I would prefer 2020 but I can’t find any online ). Please give examples . I don’t want to insult them by being completely unreasonable but I want to feel like I got a pretty good price at the end . They need to make a living too so how do I know what amount to offer ? And also can someone else pay on your behalf by writing the dealership a check ? (This would be a loan to me from this person essentially if this were to go through ).

As a long time Mazda fan, only the top spec 2.5-litre AWD version of this car makes sense. Preferably in a manual, unless you live in a very crowded and huge city. Families should avoid the hatchback, and go for the sedan - or even better, the CX-30 and preferably the CX-5. Or wait around for the CX-50 😸👍 You sacrifice only a little handling for practicality, with Mazda crossover SUVs. With the CX-30, you get a better view and slightly more comfortable seating, ease(ier) of ingress/egress, and the back seating area is brighter and less claustrophobic - you loose those blindspots. Crossover SUVs also hold their value better when the dreaded time to let them go or trade them in comes. On the the diesels, they are only worth it if you do a lot of highway driving. Also, the rear suspension is not as simple as you think - read up on it. This new gen has a lot of work put into it, and the cabin is a very comfortable, quiet and nice place to be in. Seriously, even Mercedes & BMW owners/fans I know, are impressed and might start moving over, cause they see the value. Power/torque figures on paper and even if they are higher, is not as important as you think for real world driving. Band snobbery and Euro aXX kissing, is another thing though 😉 Personally, I like the way the more luxurious 3 and CX-30 has gone, and I hope they keep heading in this direction. It's hard to compete with some other budget Japanese manufacturers, and of course the Koreans and even some Chinese brands now - check out Geely cars for example.

Mazda 3 is one of the only cars still have a manual transmission. Corolla doesnt have a sunroof, Civic doesnt have heated steering wheel, and Accord doesn't have HUD(not an option on manual). sad thing is right now you can get a 1.5T Accord manual for the same price as a Mazda 3 GT Manual

YC RAO, 2 mos ago I bought a new 2019 6 GS trim that was on clearance...I also looked at the 3 in GS FWD & AWD versions but with the $7K I got off MSRP on the 6, it actually came out a lot cheaper than the 3 w/c was only discounting $1K at the time. While the 3 is a good compact vehicle, the 6 is the better car (Mazda’s flagship sedan). Still a nice design despite being redesigned in 2014 and is bigger, more legroom, better storage and multilink rear vs the 3’s torsion rear. The 6 is also a quiet vehicle....glad I went with the 6!

@@kiwifrenchie6036 This is a very personal decision but it does sound like the Mazda3 might be where your leaning? I went through a decision process similar to yours and for me, I do have a family and use my vehicle as a daily driver and fit my (grown) family and friends on evenings and weekends. Also trunk space to transport my bicycle and more easily fit groceries etc... was a consideration. More advantages I do like the ride that the Mazda6 has with it's longer wheelbase, perceived more roominess with additional width and a longer time between fill-ups with the bigger gas tank than the Mazda3 GT sedan I was cross shopping.

Have the same color Mazda 3 2015, bought it used. Love this car over Honda Civic (glorified lawnmower with a nice resale) I love the peppyness of Mazda for sure. I'm totally happy with my sport button for now!! Its my pretend Nos. Glad the style is similar to the 2015, trunk looks shorter. Maybe when they come off a lease, I will grab one.

We are in 2020, but your particular car is in 2016..or in reality 2014 when that model was released. If you have the 2.5l engine your car is more than competitive powerwise for it's time period...if its the 2.0, it's still not below average for compact cars of that era. (Not inckuding the turbo Civic of course)

@@jbm0866 all models a year ahead are made a year before Ex, why we had 2020 vehicles at the end of 2019, it's a 2.0 base model so nothing special, 155hp is what mine has and it's good but they coulda at least did 170 or so, the car sounds amazing with aftermarket exhaust ( I have a vid on my channel ) but it doesnt go as fast as it sounds sadly, its a great car dont get me wrong, I just wish it was faster so I can pass people etc

Americans do not buy this car because it does not have at least 250hp. I read so many comments saying that they don't offer the turbo with a manual transmission. Sales of all new cars in 2019 in the US for a manual transmission were less then 2%. So why would Mazda offer the manual???? Even though the rotary controller is very easy to use, Americans want touchscreens which are dangerous to use while driving. Americans want a stupid panoramic roof. This car is cramped for the many oversized Americans. Even the 6 is cramped for them! They complain that the rear suspension is not independent even though they cannot tell the difference and insist they cannot buy one because of this. They want a hybrid which would have a CVT. Mazda is about the driving experience. They want an electric version of this car even though they would not buy one. They want rear USB ports. They want rear AC. No matter what Mazda does it just will not ever sell well. This car is the most stylish in the class, has the best interior, has the best driving dynamics and is rated highly for safety and reliability. It's a pity it's not top of the sales charts aswell

Eamonn McDermott, people in general just don’t know much abt Mazda and for the most part just love to hate on them no matter what the company does even if they’re actually doing a lot of good things and engineering for their brand. Just a shame...I am a Mazda guy as I’ve owned 3 of them with 2 flagship models currently...

@@jeremywynne993 it does.......base model corolla has 132hp with a cvt........gotta be slower than snot.......like an old automatic civic......i have a basic model mitsubishi lancer with about 150hp........its not a rocket ship.......but faster than my old automatic civic.......gets the same mileage with a light foot........too bad they don't make them anymore
