Reminds me of how I met my husband. We were both members of a forum and, after a while, he started to fall in love with me because of my views on love and how relationships should work. He says that our thoughts on love were practically identical. So he decided to email me a poem and confess his feelings for me. Unfortunately back then I was always changing my email for no real reason. I probably had a new one every other week. I'd also forget to change my email to reflect this on my forum accounts and other sites. So when I didn't respond he took that as a sign that I wasn't interested. I went from one abusive relationship right into another at the time and ended up pregnant. For some reason my husband decided to mention the email. Confused I told him I never got it. So he me sent the poem. Because I was in such an abusive relationship I was still kind of brainwashed into believing that I wasn't worth this kind of attention. I was pregnant and had the silly notion that I had to make it work. So I turned him down. After my son was born his father abandoned us on my mother's doorstep, taking everything we owned with him. Right down to my son's crib and clothes. It took a couple of months for me to deprogram what he did to me. That's when I got to thinking about that poem. So I walked to the library and emailed my future husband and asked if he was still interested. He said yes, so we started our long distance relationship. Everyday I walked to the library to email him. Things eventually led to phone calls and then finally we decided to meet face to face for the first time. I knew it was meant to be when he held my son in his arms and he looked at my husband and said "dada". A year later he moved so he could be closer to me while I fought for custody and we got married shortly afterwards. We've since had two more children and just had our 10th wedding anniversary. I am so glad that he brought up the email I missed.

Exactly ten years ago today, I met my husband in a broadly similar way. When I was on my way to meet him, the security people in Schiphol airport assumed that I was a terrorist because they couldn't believe that I was going to meet some stranger on a different continent. They questioned me aggressively and rudely, searched under my clothes and even through my hair, emptied my rucksack in a violent manner, and x-rayed my toothpaste. (Liquids were still allowed in hand luggage then). We got married after two months and eight days, and we still receive comments of the type "aww, look at the gooey newlyweds". This film appeared on the telly precisely on the tenth anniversary of our first encounter.

@Formicola8 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think that was my worst security experience ever (and I've been to Iran several times for excruciating academic research and also had to go through the green card ordeal, so I'm no stranger to security horrors). At one point I was looking fixedly at my boarding pass to try to endure the aggressive questioning without snapping at the unconscionably rude security menial, and he said in the most condescending tone imaginable, "Is your boarding pass terribly interesting, for you to be staring at it so much?" and at that point I couldn't hold out any longer and said "It's a damn sight more interesting than you are". Later when they placed me behind some sort of cloth tent and rummaged under my skirt and whatnot, he was peering over the cloth and leering at me, which I presume is decidedly illegal. They dumped out the contents of my carefully packed rucksack and then barked "you'd better pack your bag again very quickly or you'll miss the plane" (as if I'd been the one to dump everything out and cause this gigantic delay). All this happened because they didn't buy my story about going to visit this fellow whom I then married after two months. In a way, therefore, it's quite similar to the security aspect of the story in the video, because they were also suspicious of her, going to meet some stranger! When I finally alit at the other end, my soon-to-be husband picked the security stickers off my coat and out of my hair. Yes, they had even checked my hair and stickered it as being non-threatening. What a wunch of bankers. Indeed, I'd say that by sheer humiliation that narrowly beats the time when an Iran Air employee bundled me into a taxi in the middle of the night and also shoved his hand up my skirt; at least on that occasion I twisted his hand and later had him fired. But in Amsterdam the security people had the upper "hand" (ahem, irrespective of the physical position of their actual hands) and any insubordination would have meant being prevented from going to meet the boy. So I had to endure it. I hope they at least get bed bugs. At least. Hopefully also some embarrassing ailment of the nether regions. Longest comment ever.

You know going to be honest here: this reminds me and my girlfriend. She and I just one day started talking, doing some roleplay and actually I helped her with some let's say emotional problems that were worrying me. So I always stoof on her side every day helping her like her brothed and when I decided to knew her more better and she showed me her pic and I exactly said the same thing this guy says here. I just really fell in love and it has been years since I felt love like that. Then i confessed her my feelings for her, did some chat kiss and from that day to now we been datting 2 years, she in Lithuania and me in Portugal drawing arts and loving animes, cartoons, etc. Heck, I even met her father online and we been chatting for some time after that, he even invited me for some drinks when I come visit her. She and her have our ups and downs, but I always do everything to make things right even when I screw up. Sometimes I had family saying "Oh she is far, you should like try prepare to get a new girl later on" and I just say "No, I won't. She is the one that I have been waiting and looking for my entire life. The rare chance of love that anyone can get." And..there are times I get worried that I am not being a good boyfriend and ask her and she says such sweet stuff and even what she thinks about me. She even told me her plans for the future, how she wants to study in an art school and then try to take a place in Marvel to work. Even thought that would mean fly to USA, I support her on that because...I love her. I love her so much that I could be her shield and take anything bad that someone or something throws at her. No land and see can stop me to reach her, if they do I'll keep trying
