​@@DomzTunes Firstly The Odin 3 sounds good. This video doesn't contain the solo guitar sound without drums and bass, so we can't listen for The Odin 3 only. But I believe that it sounds good by itself. But the guitar sound by itself gives about 30% of guitar "awesomeness". Other 70% comes from the articulations. Articulations brings "life" or ditails or even groove to the guitar track. So lets get down to the articulations: 1) Prerecorded real chords. The reason is that prerecorded chord sound better and the way more realistically then sum of separated notes (separated wav records of each note) combined into schord. Prominy SC contains prerecorded real chords for major, minor, 7th, minor 7th, major 7th , add 9th, 7th-9th, major 7th-9th, sus 4th, dim 7th, aug, #9th, minor 9th, major 3rd vibrato with / without picking harmonics, open chords, power chords. Prominy V Metal contain prerecorded power, sus4 and add9 chords. Same for the dyads. Prominy SC and Prominy V Metal contain prerecorded dyads for 6th-dyad, #5th-dyad, 5th-dyad, flat 5th-dyad, 4th-dyad chord, major- 3rd-dyad, minor 3rd-dyad, octave. 2) Prerecorded slides. Prominy SC and Prominy V Metal contain prerecorded Realtime Slides for its chords, dyads and single notes. It's true slides records, you may open the audio files and you will see that they have recorded audios for 1 fret slides, 2 fret slides and so on up to 12 fret slides for each single note or chord. 3) Prominy contains prerecorded real trills. You may compare the trills on Prominy with other virtual guitars. After using Prominy you will hear clearly how robotic the trills sound on other virtual guiater. You will definatelly hear it, I promise you. 4) Prerecorded picking tremolo. 5) Prominy hammer-on&pull-off and is sounds okay, but no worse no better comparing to other virtual guitars. All the vitual guitars has bad hammer-on&pull-off. 6) Prerecorded real unison bends. 7) Prerecorded real double bends. 8) Prominy contains the cricet articulation 9) Prominy contains some set of whammy bar tricks. Prominy V Metal contains only bridge pickups. Prominy SG sontains real recorded 5 positions betwen 3 pickups. So Prominy SG has huge size. You may also check the Heavier7strings guitar, it contains the "Inspiration keys" feature. There are 19 types of prerecorded real bend and vibrato based articulations. After using the "Inspiration keys" of Heavier7strings you will definatelly hear how agly and robotic programmed vibrato have other virtual guitars. Even Prominy doesn't have such cool vibrato based stuff. You may also check the "KMG7 V" guitar by Studio Major7th. Like Prominy it hase some prerecorded real dyads. But it has it's own feature, it has smooth transition between normal note and pinch harmonic depends on the notes velocity level. KMG7 V doesn't have prerecorded real vibrato, but they make its programmed vibrato sounds good somehow. In conclusion I may say it's not cool that companies that produce virtual guitars literally don't come up with amything new. They even don't get the product level of the Prominy guitar produced more than 15 years ago.

Also I don't think it was created to have that many articulations in the first place but yea I see why that would be a dealbreaker compared to other Guitar Plugins on the market. Btw is Prominy your favorite Guitar Plugin? Prominy is too expensive for me (but it may be actually worth it considering with how it sounds and what you said) Have you tried Axe Machina? It sounds really good too but Odin II sits way better in a mix compared to the other ones I've used.

We did add TONS of features, but note that the neck pickup pattern is an intelligent impulse response rather than a full extra sample set. The sample library is already 20GB uncompressed with 53 000 samples this way.

@@cassclips Hi Cass, I can see how this can be interpreted this way. We've been working on Odin 3 for 4 years now. The guitar was completely sampled from zero and the engine was created from zero. A total of 53 000 samples have gone into Odin 3. We cannot do insane upgrade discounts on this (though Odin 2 users do still get a discount on Odin 3). We make an exception for people who only bought Odin 2 the last few weeks because it'd be extremely feelsbad to have bought Odin 2 only to see Odin 3 released a day later. This is different for people who have been able to use Odin 2 for years already.

Hi there, you can set different tunings in the tuning menu, but the 6 string only goes down to drop C. You’d wanna use the 7 string tunings in the dropdown for that B. Alternatively you can just use the 8 string tunings as that has all the range, but then the sound would be warmer.

Odin 2 went down to double drop C, so I would imagine this would be the same, maybe lower? Not sure if they were pitch shifted down or not though

We sampled down to drop F (1 semitone below typical 8 string tuning) and then pitched down to the C below that, so an octave below drop C is available. When we A/B, the pitched C is far tighter than a real C that low as it would have to be recorded with far thicker strings to keep string tension. I'm not sure I understand your second question. Could you clarify?

@SolemnTones thank you for the tuning answer. 👌 Yeah, as for the second question. Oftentimes, I play chords that have open strings alongside fretted notes. As well as playing the same note on 2 different strings (unison notes that are the same octave).

@@colinmitchell1287 - Open strings alongside fretted notes will work depending on which fret logic you define. The string selection keyswitch, for example, will target the root note of your chord, and then the algorithm will attempt to play your other notes in a location that makes sense, so fretted+open will work. - Two of the exact same note in the same octave on different strings could be done by loading 2 instances of Odin 3 and using string selection to force the specific string to be played. It's a bit of a work-around but definitely worth it if you're after that sound.

@@savetodayhc I think the closest you'll get to quad tracking out of this is layering with Odin 2 or playing a given riff on 2 different fret positions to turn 2 into 4. The samples uncompressed are 19GB, 53 000 samples total... So to make that quad tracking would be 106 000 samples 38GB... If any virtual guitar does quad tracking, they likely don't have the depth of samples Odin 3 offers.

We really need some sort of machine learning modality and sophisticated algorithms for approaching realistic guitar libraries. Round robins alone aren't sufficient; I suspect realism has something more to do with specific harmonic variation that occurs in sequential relation between each fretted/unfretted notes across time (i.e., playing one specific fretted/unfretted note followed by another specific fretted/unfretted note results in unique harmonic content not captured by individually sampled notes, no matter how many round robins are sampled). Aggregating samples and/or modeling natural variations of pick attack, slant, position on the bridge, etc. across time is equally important, which also influences the harmonic content of fretted notes. It's no wonder a truly realistic guitar library hasn't been released yet; it would involve some serious research and development, but I think we are beginning to have the requisite technology in 2024.

You can choose where everything is played and by default, it will attempt realistic positions, but I found certain passages sounding nicer with other fret choices.
