@@TatoebotI mostly got this because I am almost getting it as a means to consolidate my MacBook and Xbox series S into one device. I already have compatible displays and peripherals so this is the best option for me. It was either the HX99G, one of the various handhelds, or a gaming laptop, but then this came out and I was able to get the 3070 model for $976 so I’m hoping it all goes well but we’ll just have to wait and see. The main reason I didn’t get an actual laptop is mostly due to cooling concerns and the fact that I haven’t even opened the screen on my MacBook in more than a month as it usually just stays plugged in and connected to an external display. I didn’t really need something with all that extra stuff and just wanted something I could easily fit in a suitcase or backpack and bring with me on trips since I’d still be bringing the keyboard, mouse, and screen anyways.

You should check this for preinstalled viruses ... like Bladabindi etc. In germany we had a Acemagic PC with preinstalled Malware... only a hint maybe they fixed this in the meantime

It's made to save space on a desk as opposed to travel. If you're staying in a place for long term this is better; otherwise if it's a short term stay, laptop.

I found it as low as $1200 and that's not a bad deal. You can find a comparable 4070 laptop for around the same price, but you'll likely have more fan noise and won't be nearly as much as a conversation piece. This thing has a "cool factor" that no laptop will ever match. Pair it with a 18v battery inverter and portable USB screen, and you could have a viable, modular, laptop replacement.

Liquid coolers (AIO) are honestly trash lately due to the liquid inside gunking up and becoming faulty. If you’re willing to spend enough for a liquid cooler then get a high end air cooler and it might even be better

I travel a lot, and I have always been disappointed with laptops. So many issues, no matter what brand I have. This looks like it would work great as a travel PC so I can game when I am stuck in a hotel and only have their TV (though I would probably take a 34" monitor). I am not too disappointed with what it is giving.

The HX99G is half the price, half the size, whisper quiet and handles 1040p much better. The 3080m should perform better but it’s neutered to 80w where the minisforum 6600m uses 100w.

The 3080 in this uses 125w, but still, it's all preference whether you want a 6650M or a 3070M in a mini PC for just about 1k. I doubt anyone would buy these if they weren't on sale for 40% off pre-orders. Nonetheless, I'm still looking forward to getting the 3070 model.

While it looks interesting, as a portable pc the design does make everyday carrying more difficult, unless one has a bag designed for something this shape, a la the original Mac carrying bags. By not including the screen, it does offer a price/performance benefit over similarly priced gaming laptops, but narrowly. The higheer end Tank you tested, at $1800, should outperform most $2000 gaming laptops that have a 3070 Ti mobile, vs. the 3080 mobile in the Tank, but I expect the gain to be narrow (narrower than the laptop would be, physicaaly - more like Chromebook narrow.)

I was outta the navy when the pentiums first came out. I didnt know about the flawed floating point coprocessor. It played doom flawlessly. Anyways i get a letter stating that the chip aint made to specs and im in on a class action lawsuit and i can get a new pentium processor. Sure ill take it.
