New to smelting and casting? Here is a first impression of a budget electric melting / smelting furnace using recycled sterling silver. DIY smelting and casting for silversmithing in a home studio.
In my opinion, even though this qualifies as a budget furnace, the quality is there. Furnaces in general are pretty low tech, and one of the few reasons you might want a different furnace is if you need one that can go over 1100C (2012 F), or one that can run longer than the maximum time for this unit which is three hours.
