I love that you all are talking about the scarcity vs abundance mindset. I'd like to see more conversations around how your mindset shifted. There are so many women that could benefit from knowing what steps you all took to rewire your brains and change your outlook. Kara was a perfect guest. I'd like to hear more about the "boring stuff" that she mentioned - more exposure to information benefits us all :) This Pod is making me rethink my entire life lol

Easy access to Women's sports is the key to getting butts in the seats and fans who do not live near a team spending money. This year is frustrating on watching a game or to watch a replay if you cannot catch a live game. Hence the reason Olympics are big for women's sports in USA the easier access to watch live or a recent replay.
@hackapump5 ай бұрын
The reason the men's tournament is U23 is that FIFA don't want the Olympic tournament to get anywhere near the World Cup in prestige. They would never allow a second global tournament competing with their crown jewel. So it's about money. Lots and lots of money. Once the women's game catches up in terms of viewership and general money involved, FIFA will demand that the women's Olympic tournament becomes U23 too. So let's enjoy it while we can. The smaller size of the Olympic tournaments is probably more to do with time constraints though.

Agree about the sudden moment of scoring. Lavelle got so much run from her goal in the World Cup championship. However, it feels like basically everything since for her has been anti-climatic, basedd due to hardly being on the field? And as much love that Horan gets....the leadership void seems to be there. Mallory Swanson was probably going to be the expected impact player until she got hurt.

There is nothing strange it is the money that made the difference the Olympics and the WC were in confrontation in the early 1900s as being 2 distinct world cups that’s why Uruguay has 4 stars 2 Olympics and 2 WC so FIFA has decided to just recognize its competition as the only WC and with the different world organizations linked to FIFA no Clubs is obliged to release players if the matches are not in the official calendar. The U23 were mostly composed of non- or unprofessional players and easy to release, which is no longer the case today

Felt inaccurate. The result is highly inaccurate. Not me at all. There should be a warning saying don't waste your time on this test if you are depressed. In fact, the process of taking the test just highlighted to me how depressed I am and how much that changes my personality.

One strrange thing about the Olympics is that not all the best teams will be there. For example, in Tokyo, not all the top European teams were there. Germany is one of the best teams in the world but were not at those Olympics. There are only so many countries per continent...
@javierluissantosrubio66035 ай бұрын
It's the same old story, almost all the top teams are European, if they hold a tournament with the same places For all confederations, big European national teams will be left out, such as England, Sweden, Holland this year, and you will have New Zealand, Zambia, etc.

Something that is being thrown out to explain weaker scoring performance against Costa Rico is that the Emma Hayes is new...However, wouldn't you say that the ability of a player to finish in the box is independent of it the coach is new. Rodman or Smith not finish has little to do with the coach being new. They also have played together.... so I think too much is made at times that the team is "new", Missing shots is about missing shots.
@candacelong76435 ай бұрын
Rodman hardly took shots until the end of the game and Smith’s shots were saved. Credit to the gk. Horan and Swanson had tough games against CR and we’re simply “off”. The shots were there. I do think there’s a bit of overreacting going on though. Smith has scored in 4 of her last 5 games and Swanson just had a brace in the set of friendlies before. The fact that they were able to create fairly good shots against a very low block was promising.

It really annoys me that fifa won’t let men’s first teams play. The difference is there because fifa are monopolistic assholes and didn’t want the olympics to compete with them but like just didn’t gaf about the women when the rule was made. But i think it is such a disservice. The la olympics are in 4 years and i think the mnt first team playing well there would do more for the sport in america than any copa or world cup could.
@susiemcusie5 ай бұрын
the olympics simply make no sense in the football schedule. Having de u23's compete is a good compromise as they need the exposure way more. the women will go u23 too at some point but you can't do that until federation can field a decent u23 team
@sac123895 ай бұрын
@@susiemcusie fifa makes the schedule. It’s the same time of year as other intl tournaments. It only doesn’t make sense in the schedule bc fifa cannot handle having competition.
@susiemcusie5 ай бұрын
@@sac12389 No, it doesn't make sense because it would mean yet another summer in which players don't have an off season. you're really looking at the women's schedule and going, this is fine? 2023 WC, 2024 Olympics, 2025 euro's/continental tournaments, 2026 off, 2027 WC, 2028 Olympics. That is not okay. The Olympics only adds stress and injuries. It's a perfect opportunity to give the u23 teams a good tournament.
@sac123895 ай бұрын
@@susiemcusie okay but why not get rid of nations league instead? Or continental cups? Or the world cup? You are making a value judgement that the olympics is worth less than those and i just don’t agree. The fact that it is outside of fifa makes it so important to me. The monopolies controling soccer are so harmful. Fuck fifa, concacaf, uefa, etc etc. Also please note there is nothing stopping teams from sending their u23s to qualifiers and the olympics if first teams are allowed. They still have the freedom to prioritize things themselves.
@susiemcusie5 ай бұрын
@@sac12389 The nations league is simply a replacement for qualification matches and would therefor not create space in the schedule. The nations league also allows countries other than the top 12 in the world to play competitive matches which is great for women's football. The continental cups have a way way way richer history than the Olympics and are great for football development, more so than football in the Olympics. The Olympics are simply not a great podium for football because it gets drowned out by all the other sports. Do you think England would have gotten the boost it did if they won and Olympic gold instead of euro's? Never ever so why are you pushing for the Olympics? The Olympics are literally just another monopoly, you literally can't get away from that in football or really sports in general. There is always a harmful organization pulling the strings and none of them will ever give up that control. fielding a u23 team for the olympic qualifications and olympics wouldn't work simply because those games are used as prep games for other tournaments and there is a lot of overlap between u23 and the senior team.
