The USA is the epitome of f**k around and find out! My daughter was deployed to Iraq and Afghanistan. She had the pleasure of seeing Toby. She would call home after and there would be a calmness in her voice. For that, I'm forever grateful that he loved our Military. My daughter was 18 when she was deployed to Iraq and her little bad ass would never admit it, but it's hard to hide things from mom, I knew there was some fear and uncertainty in her voice. Thank you for your service, Mr. Keith! We've lost a true Patriot!

This song starts off saying that his dad lost his right eye while serving in the army. He (the dad) was killed in a car accident on March 24, 2001 - less than six months before 9/11. Toby was already grieving from that unexpected loss when the attack happened so you can imagine the impact it had on him.

we aren't divided as much as people think, it's all a game played on the people by the govt for more control. When it comes down to it, we are all American and have more in common than we have differences. I am an Army vet served in Desert Storm and multiple Iraqi Freedom tours, after visiting 30+ countries and war zones, people dont realize how lucky they are to live in this country. I will always protect every American regardless of race, politics, gender or any other divisive classifications because in the end, we are all Americans and I was raised to protect this country and all those in it. I saw Toby 3 times in Iraq, what an amazing guy, he will be missed but never forgotten. great reaction

My wife and I saw Toby play this during his "Shock'n Y'all Tour" back in 2003... one of our first dates, actually. I'm not even that big of a country fan but I liked Toby's music and I really wanted to hear this song. You see, we were all pissed off pretty bad after 9/11. You kind of had to be there to understand that feeling. I'm a fairly liberal dude these days, and I've definitely since changed my views on the wars we got in. That said, I have to admit that this song still kind of sends chills down my spine. And again, you had to be there to fully "get it"... this song is like a time capsule of our feelings after those towers went down. RIP Toby.

I had a hard time sleeping the night of 9/11 .. I had 5 children ages 14 to 18 months.. Had no idea what they were going to grow up with.. Terrorists had attacked our country.. I was thanking God for our Troops.. and proud to know that many of my family members had served and a couple still serving..

As an old fourth generation vet, with TBI and PTSD, that exists under a VA homeless program for vets. I will say it is sad that the American people lets the government to separate us, as they slowly remove our freedoms in the name of protecting us from what they have created. Every freedom you allow them to remove, someone died for you to have! Which it could easily cost the same price to get it back. Veterans didn't swear oath to the government, party or president ( even though he is the commander) they gave an oath to the people to protect constitution. Most vets will tell you, that oath dies when we do. Salute to my brother and sister veterans! May you be living happy and finding peace with the war within.

It was not controversial to us, who like him, loved our country regardless of our many faults. For people who were offended by it, fuck them, they should pack their shit and LEAVE. I spent 24 years in the US Army Infantry, went to war 3 times and was twice wounded, once nearly fatally, and in all that time never once ran across someone who did not love Toby, even if they were not country music fans.
