I always thought I would die by 26...don't know why, just thought that. Well, at the beginning of this year, I turned 62, one day the thought was 'Hmm, maybe I had the numbers turned around, and 62 is the year.' Well, dammed if I wasn't diagnosed with throat cancer about a week later. Then, with NO idea that Toby was sick, I saw him and was astonished at how his cancer had affected him. Anyway, I started radiation and chemo in late February, have lost a cool 50 pounds...and this song, THIS song will not leave my head, and hasn't for weeks. If I make it through this, (the doc says 94% chance I -will-!), I will always thank Toby for this crazy song. If I don't...then I hope I get to hear him sing it in person. RIP Toby, you were always one of my favorites.

Toby may have went out a legand and a hero. But, we do still have a few more legends left. He was sick and frail, his voice was still strong as it ever was. We was lucky to have him in our life for years. In the end of his sickness he come back to us for just a little while because he knew we all would understand that he was tired and he wanted us to know he is ok and he was going to be ok. As the saying goes, stay just for another minute or two he gave us more than just a couple of minutes, he gave us his all with his last concerts, that’s how much Toby Keith loved us. He’s no longer in pain or suffering. I have so much respect for him. His music will live on through the hearts of the world. My dad used to play this when we were all home on Saturdays as he was off that day from long days of trucking. It's also a song that brings back many good memories with my ex, memories that I'll never forget despite how our marriage & long friendship ended. This song along with one's from George Strait, Garth Brooks, and then Tim McGraw, Lonestar, Kenny Chesney, Jason Aldean, Michael Montgomery, and man I can go on with many other great artists but at that certain time in my life these were the ones that were on more or we just listened too along with R&B, metal etc..

Check out the song "Goodness of God" by CeCe Winans. I listen to her version with the lyrics along with the American Idol finale performance every day. It just says it all to me. Hope you listen and it stirs your soul.

RIP Toby. You were a huge part of my childhood jamming and singing along to your music. Glad to know that you knew Jesus as your Savior. To TK’s family, praying for yall. I’ll see you when the good Lord calls me home when my time comes TK.

You were a cowboy. Not in the physical sense, but with your lyrics. You roped us in & took us for a ride. It was a great ride, thank you! Go in peace & fly high with those wings.

@@TheresaB-wg4ku , Thank you for the compliment. Was in Afghanistan from 2004-7 , then in Iraq from 2008-10. It was my pleasure. It changed my outlook of life so much. We take so much for granted everyday.

That's awesome bro. Cowboys were any color didn't matter. That's when men were men. Had manners for women, but could kill you in a second if needed. Too bad the world ain't still like that.

I don't think color has much of a meaning in country bud I'm sure there was a few black cowboys and there's black country singers now

Every summer, my daughter and I went to every concert at the state fair. We saw Ricky Skaggs, Billy Ray Cyrus, Randy Travis, etc. Well, I wS a huge Toby Keith and finally one summer, he was coming to the fair. When he started to walk on the stage, I got so star struck, I thought I was going to pass out. He was so tall and so handsome. I never did go back to the fair, because I didn't want anything to ruin that memory. He was amazing😊😢❤

I am not a fan of all of country music. But I will say, this song helped me a lot. When I was in Afghanistan this song kind of became like a thing for us to play whenever tough times came. It didn’t take long for all of us within the vicinity to start singing along to it once it started. It helped us keep ourselves together and made us think about home. Thank you Tony Keith, I may not know any of your other songs, but this one means the world to me!
