I've been watching this series instead of Netflix :) So informative, and entertaining! This episode is especially great since I also respond to Vira I with "blerg." I found that my original way of doing it put so much strain onto my low back to upright my spine, and certain teachers are not that open to the wider stance-but it's SO necessary! Thank you both.

Thank you! Love these videos! I have spent years ignoring the "heel to heel" cue so I and so glad that you all agree.

I didn’t understand when Mary says “step your feet so wide so your hips and sacral iliac disappear” huh “
@LizzieYoga4 жыл бұрын
I think she means wide enough feet so that you can easily rotate to face forward without feeling torque in your hips.

3 inch sacrum, and I find that with my inner heels 3+ inches apart W1 feels way better, and I can better anchor down through my back foot. I have been teaching a wider stance for many standing poses, and my students give positive feedback. The wider stance challenges much of what is practiced in vinyasa-style asana.

Exactly - love that your'e listening to feedback from your own body!

YES yes yes. I just said to my class in W1 last week: "Do it like Mary Richards is here even though she's not...." :)

Thank you for all the education! However, I did not hear you mention the position of pelvis in the pose, what is your take on old school cue to align/level/square the hips in W1? (meh)
@LizzieYoga2 жыл бұрын
I don't practice it that way. I let the back pelvis find it's natural position and think/cue much more about "descending the pelvis into the space between the feet" and working with flying up in the upper body.
