Give a product named "Mend It" a try...can repair your lures on the boat, and you don't get the discoloration/hard spot that you can get with a lighter.

Another good way to fix rubber I learned from an old buddy if you don't want to kill people in your cabin up in Canada with the fumes. LOL a soldering iron works perfect. Obviously not on the boat but works great were you have power.

I’m guessing you could use a heat gun to get similar results if you have one. It shouldn’t discolor the bait and there’s less risk of it lighting on fire.

I save my old baits just in case I don't see the tail floating. Sometimes you end up with a different colored tail but you have replacement Tails if you need them
