Never let the truth get in the way of a good story. I know that Lennon had a darker side to him, as we all do. The fact is John Lennon gave us some of the most meaningful music ever. I choose to focus on the positive.

Childhood trama! brought most of Lennon's troubles! He was abandoned by both his parents at the age of 5. Most people don't comprehend the effect of this on a person! I can relate because a similar thing happened to me and believe me its not pretty!

I have always felt this way about John, don't get me wrong I love his music well mostly when he was with the Beatles. But I've always felt like John was a complete hypocrite living a life of luxury while putting down capitalists while he himself was at the top of the capitalist heap. John Lennon lived a life of luxury but proclaimed community unity but could not produce it for anyone. My favorite Beatle used to be John, I even went to the vigil when he was assassinated we had a candlelight vigil in my town it was Winter it was cold I remember. About 15 years ago my favorite Beatle became Paul, about 5 years ago I started really trying to play "Here comes the Sun" and I started considering George very seriously George Harrison not Martin. And I remember how much I love the triple album All things must pass. And how George's solo work is my favorite of any of the Beatles solo work triple especially All things must pass. So George Harrison is now my favorite Beatle he has been for about 5 years. As a lifetime musician and artist he exudes the most creativity and he wrote the most played Beatles song in history here comes the Sun by George Harrison is the most streamed the most played the most purchased Beatles song ever written far surpassing hey Jude or let it be or I want to hold your hand here comes the Sun is a timeless classic it's not rock and roll it's not pop it is timeless classic music written by the most creative most spiritual most beautiful beetle like the lyrics Say in the Broadway musical hair George Harrison of The Beatles

He wrote songs about himself about all this stuff. he wore his heart on his sleeve. he said and sand about his ego. WHO ELSE DID THAT? Zappa, Dylan, Elvis and everyone that said Lennon was phony. did all the same things Lennon did!!! At least John admitted it - At least he sang about peace- Some just sang about banging their drums. lol lol. lol. lol. Lennon even sang. Do not worship me. go worship people like Todd Rungrin. however you spell his name

Lennon was complicated. He was a leading edge of art, culture, and even politics. He had flaws, and they were plentiful, and in that Rundgren is right about him being a hypocrite, but that should take nothing away from his work. Self-indulgent? Yes. Witty also? Yes. A musical and lyrical genius? Yes. You don't get one without the other. I love Todd and his music. What little I know of his private life (mostly due to overhearing and not research) indicates that he's a complex man too, good overall, but complicated. I don't know why what Todd said is controversial. Seems like I've known Lennon was self-indulgent since rumors seeped out of Abbey Road. He was also brilliant.

I will tell you what a true nitwit is: it is someone that capitalises 'nitwit' like it is a proper noun, then follows it with a comma when he should have followed it with a question mark, and then should have started a new sentence afterwards, but didnt. Fall asleep a lot during English class?

Todd "Hello it's me..." Rundgren. Hey he's entitled to his opinion. I seem to recall he worked, or was going to work with Badfinger, the group that George Harrison brought to Apple. I'm guessing that Todd would favor George. Maybe they're even buddies for all I know. Lennon typically wrote and sang in the "first" person. Is that self-indulgent? I don't think so. That's how Lennon went about his music, very personally. Where Paul had a knack for writing in the "second" and "third" person when weaving a story to his melodies. Hypocrisy is something EVERY human being is guilty of at some level, Todd included. Thus, Todd calling out Lennon for his hypocrisy is equivalent to "pot meet kettle." Lennon's value to me is his music. What he was like as a person, or his opinions, stance, politics....doesn't matter to me. I don't hold any entertainer in that high of regard outside of their art.

Lennon was a a mass of contradictions. A very insecure man who had trust and abandonment issues who could, apparently, only really reveal himself in his music and a small handful of people. A guy particularly ill suited to fame who, once he had it, realized it was anything but the dream he imagined. If he'd been emotionally healthy enough to know who he really was and what he really needed in his early years the Beatles simply would never have existed. We have his flaws and limitations to thank for everything.

ABOUT the claim of hypocrisy with songs like Imagine: You'll want to read this accountability.. Following Rundgren logic - all of us wish for peace, but how many go about every moment of everyday making the "peaceful choice"? How many of you race through the streets daily, well over the speed limit not caring about harming another, sticking your finger up at the slow driver, yelling at drivers in traffic, or verbally fighting with your co-worker, neighbor, friends, and especially family, or just think awful hateful things about them - is this peaceful? You claim t want it! How many of you, play victim while castrating a whole race in malevolent determination as first reaction, to "axe out" those people knowing it will financially, emotionally, publicly ruin them, instead of choosing to helping them through difficult thoughts and emotions - is this a peaceful choice? How many of you , scream at people who don't agree with you (say a Trump supporter), is this the peace you envisioned? Now be honest, how many who want peace but has physically hit another person? Who has purposely set out to call names and hurt someone's feelings, mentally bullying them? Yet you claim you are up for having peace? How many of you give space in their home to some unfortunately homeless, give food weekly to the hungry, maybe not by that case of beer this week and give the money to the needy - yet you want peace! Why aren't you making peaceful decisions like you claimed? How many own guns, is that peaceful? How many are willing to scream, fight, force, manipulate, lie, hurt, and kill, just to have their religious beliefs, political beliefs heard, all in the name of peace - my point is, just because Lennon wrote a song of poetry about dreaming for "easy", for "love", doesn't make him a hypocrite no more then Rundgren, you, or me. To further Rundgren awfully dumb logic, we all want good health, but how many of us eat fast food, processed food, sugar, drinking alcohol, smoke/sniff dope, put chemical creams/soaps on your body, in our mouth, jack unproven V's in your arm? Yet you say you want good health. Heart disease is the number way of dying, caused by said foods and stress - and you all jack it into and behave with panic and fear so much, that the stress is raging. Hypocrites! Rundgren sounds like a jealous little man, a talentless hack who must pull down the "A+ student" because he can't rise to their level of genius. Tell us Todd, do you not want peace? If so, are you holding yourself as accountable like you do, Lennon? Rundgren had a chance to see the changes Lennon made, that most can't - but instead of seeing that, he choose to expose what he believes is "negative", and to his credit, it's gotten him the attention he seeks and failed to get with his own music. And I am NOT supporting Lennon hitting his ex-wife, but I fully support his awareness to change, then make change happen - name a habit, a pattern, an addiction you have, is not on rhythm with peace, but changed with such strength? Most haven't/don't, we are trained to be habitual, and do! Everyone is combative, 99% of everyone has physically hit another person, if you judge and claim you haven't - you are lying, or are that very few of 1%. Finally, to have a temperament, doesn't mean "peace" can't be wished, or had - I guess people like Malcom X would be shunned upon by Rundgren if this is the case - but again, holding Lennon to a standard he lets other's go free on!

Wow, tell us how you really feel about Yoko! Hahaha. Divorce doesn't happen in a vacuum. If they're like any other relationship, there was trouble long before Yoko entered the picture. Abandoned is also inappropriate when trying to characterize that divorce. They both settled and came to an agreement financially. I don't consider that abandonment. Whatever you feel about Yoko doesn't change the fact that John loved her, and they both went on to create some great songs together.
