Thank you. Watching reviews on the M50 make it seem so simple to use but yesterday after mine arrived I was overwhelmed by how many settings there are in the multiple menus. As someone who basically uses my iPhone to take simple pictures/videos of my dogs the M50 is a whole new world! Thank you for guiding me through this world. I look forward to parts 2-4!

Hi Todd, i am a late photograph starter with the Canon M50 Mark ii. I've watched a lot of youtube videos about tutorial, how to set up camera for manual mode, lens comparison for the M50.... When came across your videos, i admitted all of your sections were the BEST tutorials, extremely easy to learn with side by side images, your explanations were also simple and easy to understand which guided me to set up and practicing on my M50 successfully. Can't thank you enough for your time and the efforts you've put to make these videos, i greatly appreciated and thank you again for your hard work, please keep continue doing so to help others to be able to get the most advantages out from the Canon M50.

I've had my M50 for a couple of months now and have been tinkering with the settings. I watched this video with camera in hand and followed your recommendations. Can't wait to field test it. Yours is one of my very favorite channels. You are a fabulous teacher and it's quite obvious that you possess a wealth of knowledge and experience. Thanks for sharing it with us. Looking forward to the follow ups to this one!

Great stuff. Many thanks. I would stay away as much as possible from using the shutter release if there are microphones nearby - when you depressed the release (after recommending mapping the video 'on-off' function to it) you could hear noise.

An annoying thing is the screen going blank when you accidentally block the viewfinder. Since your suggestion to shut off the screen using the erase button I stopped the screen going blank like this: Go to #4 menu of the wrench menu, choose Display Settings and set display control to manual. That does it. Thanks for great suggestions. I now use them all. What a handy camera for so inexpensive. Best deal ever. I put on a small rig brand cage. I like the grip it adds plus all the attachment possibilities and some protection. I will watch you other m50 videos. This is the first real camera since I used a canon AE-1 back in the film days before digital existed. I took so many great shots even in low light with that AE-1. I had tricks for holding stable even without a tripod. I had photos from inside a Buddhist temple in Bangkok where using a flash was illegal. A lot of Perfectly clear shots. I was so proud of myself. I haven't thought about that in years. I don't know what brought it to mind. Thanks again.

Thank you for this! My M50 arrived today. I fired up this video and followed along, pausing as needed. This tutorial didn't cover sound recording levels, but that wasn't hard to figure out. I probably could have spent half the day trying to figure out settings, but this video got me up and running quickly.

Thank you so much for this. You've got yourself a new sub from France. Your videos are exactly what I needeed !👍👏 I was looking at the m50 with the sigma 16mm 1/4 for my youtube videos and my business (online classes and my jewelry brand pictures). But, I was a little lost and worried by the crop factor in 4k. I need it for head talk, portrait (myself or models) and macro of my jewelry. I am leaning toward the m50 instead of the sony a6400 (my initial choice) for budget issues. Here in France, a6400+sigma16mm is 1230€ (1500$) compared to m50+sigma16mm 950€ (1160$). So, my wallet is strongly pointing me in a direction :) I can't wait to see the rest of the rest of this series especially the "trick" to work around 4k crop. Keep it coming. Hopefully you get to a million subs cause the quality of your content is definitely worth that. Take care

Hello again, Todd! Back again! I not only hit 'like', I subscribed! This time, I had my M50 in my hands and followed all your instructions, until the last one in Custom Fn, when I had to call a halt. That's because my M50 is quite different from what your display showed. Oops, I decided to have another go at the CFn but, this time, I managed to change the screen so that it is exactly the same as yours. (I did the 2-finger thing that we all do with our mobile phones.) Okay, I should be right but I'd really, really like to know which setting to use for White Balance, when recording vids in church. Also, what are best settings for recording fireworks and Christmas decorations? I tried recording the latter prior to last Christmas but the results were......well, I should have used my 7D.
