Parents who raise their kids to think they are above the law are definitely at fault….but we can’t all blame our actions on our parents. Even teenagers and young children know right from wrong and life experiences can distort reality, but that doesn’t mean a crime should go unpunished. The law needs to hold everyone accountable. Hi Couch was old enough to know right from wrong and he needs to be held accountable for the people he killed. He should have been tried as an adult for multiple counts of vehicular HOMICIDE! How much money did his family give the judge/lawyers to let him off with a smack on the wrist?!!! I would get more prison time for check forgery or fraud….Martha Stewart even did more prison time and she didn’t kill anyone or evade the law! Bottom line, this douche bag has his parents money and they bought him lawyers and he will probably kill again and never feel any remorse.

He changed nothing about his life to make up for it. I think life in prison is the only appropriate sentence because he was never going to change.

There are two justice systems in America, one for the plebes and one for the wealthy. The justice system is more likely to work in your favor IF you have money and IF you have connections, know the 'right' people who have some influence. I totally agree with you. I knew someone who was arrested for having 8 Ecstasy pills on him. Ended up arrested for 'distribution', because in their state if you have 7 or less pills, it's possession. Over 7, they assume your giving it to friends. (not selling/dealing) As this person was on vacation for 2 weeks, his lawyer argued, it was only for him, and wanted charges down to 'possession'. Prosecutor refused, and he was sentenced to 2 years incarceration. He had a public defender. 2 years for 8 pills. If his parents could have afforded a great lawyer, he'd have gotten nothing, or probation. This Ethan kid, kills 4 people, paralysed a third, and gets probation and a vacation at a cushy alcohol prevention center. Our justice system is very unfair to the average person, and worse for low income people and poc. It seems it only works for people with money and clout. NOBODY should go to jail for 15 years for 10 grams of weed. That's a really harsh sentence. Hm.

I grew up in an affluent household. However, my parents cared for us but were fairly strict. Homework and chores were not negotiable. We received a small weekly allowance. None of us ended up in court. We were not offered alcohol until we were over 18 and only on special occasions. My first car was old but ran perfectly. Ethan's parents are the reason he grew up so entitled. I can't help but feel that they bought his freedom.

If you become rich, it kicks in all the instincts of being the dominant one in the pack and you will become a sociopath and if you are born rich, you will be a psychopath. There are many studies showing that people in higher ranking or powerful positions are psychopaths, just look at police officers. There are also many studies showing that the more successful you are, the less empathy you have. Have you never heard of the Stanford prison experiment? I don't like Dr. Grande, affluenza should be in the DSM because it is literally the ultimate mental illness. Every problem human civilization has ever faced has been caused by inequality. The world is an evil place, not because of the successful, but because of those who refuse to fight the successful in their power/dominance seeking behavior. With great power comes great responsibility. If you become rich you have a massive responsibility to fight for communism on earth. If you don't, you are a narcissist who think they deserve to live a life of luxury while there are homeless people. How much money do you really need? And your hoarding of all the wealth leaves billions poor and beyond miserable. There are two types of people in the world, narcissists and empaths. If you are selfish, you are a bad person and on the side of evil. If you are empathic, you are a good person and on the side of good. If you care about yourself more than you care about other people, then you are a bad person. If you care about other people more than you care about yourself then you are good person. Humans have evolved to survive, so our bodies are designed to give us dopamine when we do something narcissistic and you can see the logical outcome of it with monarchs and capitalists who have been trying to conquer the world since civilization began. People will consciously and subconsciously falsely rationalize in a way to falsely justify seeking dopamine and avoiding cortisol, they call it motivated reasoning. Antisocial personalities are incapable of telling right from wrong and truth from falsehood. Only the most evil antisocial personality can be evil without lies. That's why all right wing things are built on lies. All knowledge is built on empathy. Money is control over others. In communism there is no money. The earth easily provides more than enough to supply everyone's needs if you didn't need money to get it. Instead of the psychopathic cultural hegemony that the capitalists provide us, we have a culture built off empathy. We go to work everyday because we want to provide for other people's needs and help other people; we don't need anything in return for that because we are good people. Money is the incentive that directly controls every human on earth's behavior and the capitalists use their control of the money to steer the world. That's why it's called wage slavery. Freedom means that no man has power over another and if no man shall have power over another, empathy must rule us all. Empathy replaces the incentive structure in communism. You can't be neutral on this revolutionary battlefield. If you don't fight the bilderbergers and the cia as hard as you can then you are fighting on their side because every hour of work you put in and every dollar you spend is GDP, which goes directly towards supporting the military and the capitalists. The bilderbergers are planning to commit omnicide with plausible deniability through "natural disasters" and finally achieve their ancient dream of eternal world domination. Leaving only the bilderbergers and their ilk alive will effectively make the human race a race of pure evil because only the most evil people to ever live will be left alive. Even if they achieve communism after this, god will abandon humanity forever because committing the apocalypse is way too big of an evil to achieve communism to ever be forgiven. It's really not difficult to transition to communism, everyone just continues going to work like they are doing but do it for empathy instead. Wake up Dr. Grande. You have been warned.

The ancient battle of good vs evil has been the battle of left vs right. They are synonyms. Right wing is domination seeking. Left wing is empathy seeking. As you know Dr. Grande, power/success seeking is just one of the traits of antisocial personality disorder (can't we just create a duality of good personality traits and evil personality traits?) and let me clarify that democrats and republicans are both right wing parties. We live in a totalitarian fascist country so they are the two sides to the fascist political thought frame. Good people join the democrats and evil people join the republicans. They use framing to trap our minds in a cage. Nothing outside of the frame is ever talked about on mainstream media so no alternative thoughts ever get into people's minds. If you go outside of the frame of acceptable debate, that is not accepted because the cia created a pejorative derogatory term to use for them "conspiracy theorist" and people will provide pressure via ridicule, causing you cortisol to either get you back in the frame or to destroy you for being different. People, especially women, try to be normal more than anything to secure their spot in the pack and thus ensure their survival. People without being asked and thus creating evidence (intelligence agencies behave based on plausible deniability), defend fascist ideology as part of their mainstream tribe identity. The tribe seemingly unites as a single hive mind unit to most effectively work together to survive. Women are smaller and weaker and thus not able to survive alone in the wild as well as men are, so women have much stronger social instincts than men. Women are also natural caregivers, so it's natural for them to work to serve others and provide for their families. Women are the stronger sex in capitalism, compared to men being the stronger sex when we lived in the wild. Although the oligarchs are misogynists so they discriminate and try to destroy women. Luckily humans evolved to not like being submissive but because men didn't evolve to submissively take care of a baby, they do poorer in capitalism. Our school system is designed to separate the submissive from those who have a spirit that refuses to be dominated. If you submissively do all the pointless homework, then you are given good grades and your elevation in the pecking order of the capitalist rat race tribe is increased. If you can see the homework is stupid and refuse to do it, you are discarded like a piece of trash and driven to the bottom of society. Don't forget that the police massively crack down on homeless people because you need to experience the most extreme cortisol possible if you try to get outside of capitalism, as if being homeless wasn't enough of a consequence to force you into wage slavery. Evil/domination/antisocial people only understand power and via cultural hegemony they have managed to give most people some level of antisocial personality disorder. The mainstream corporate media is powerful so people will basically believe anything they say even if it's false because it's coming from something more powerful than them. That's why youtube promotes "authoritative" videos and censors borderline videos. Authoritative means authoritarian and borderline means the border of the frame of acceptable debate within fascism. Only videos of make up tutorials and other irrelevant things don't face censorship. You can literally see video of the youtube CEO admitting this is what they do. Like in the wild the only thing people understand is power and domination. If something is more powerful than you, you will be submissive to it, if something is weaker than you, you see an opportunity to dominate it. Don't antisocial personalities only think in how to use something to their advantage? Challenging something more powerful than you definitely isn't to your advantage cause it can destroy you. If something from a less powerful position tells you a way better truthful narrative (maybe a loser in his mom's basement in the comment section), you are likely to default to the mainstream narrative that the world accepts as true, just because that loser who is spitting truth is not very powerful, he is who the "conspiracy theorist" pejorative label was created for. They are a loner monkey and not part of a much more powerful tribe called the mainstream. Many monkeys are way more powerful than a lone one. Loners need to think of the truth and see reality to survive alone. Social people need to think in tribal instincts to survive, being a member of the tribe and increasing their rank in the tribe are the most important things to them. Our world is designed like a baboon tribe with each monkey having a defined position in hierarchy 1-10 or however many, with each monkey's position being determined by wealth. That's why tribalism is so effective at being used for controlling and manipulating us. Pretty sad that humans never evolved beyond behaving with monkey instincts. In communism we behave based on moral reason, not instincts like in capitalism and feudalism. We don't need our selfish survival instincts anymore because our intelligence means we no longer need to try to survive in the wild. In fact our selfish survival instincts are very harmful and evil. It takes training to be a good person and we could evolve moral behavior into instincts if all humans behaved morally long enough. Submissive people are good people. Dominant people are evil people. "We must tame the savageness of man and make gentle the life of the earth." We must tame the instincts of man and create behavior based on moral reason. The dopamine/cortisol behavior motivator is an instinct and we must disregard the fear of suffering and be willing to make ANY sacrifice to bring about communism on earth. Amen.

He told me he thought his acquittal was one of the worst things that had ever happened to him because he lost the opportunity to experience his punishment. I just saw the story of the 18 year old student in Tampa who just got 24 years for killing a mother and her baby while street racing. His parents are good people but bought him a muscle car just prior to the incident. Ethan Couch will have to look over his shoulder for the rest of his life.

I remember that case. The "affluenza"- thing is the stupidest thing I had ever heard and till this day, it is still the stupidiest. What is even more stupid is that the judge actually accepted it, even as a thing. It is and was beyond ridicolous. The affluenza defense is a crime in itself. And I would have to fully agree with DR. Grande, 8 years pr life would have been fair, or maybe even more.

I completely agree with you Dr. This case is infuriating. What that kid REALLY needed was serious jail time. In my opinion, when the legal system gave him such a light sentence after killing FOUR HUMAN BEINGS, they not only failed at delivering justice for their families, but they reinforced Ethan's notion that he was somehow special and above the law. On a lighter note, I'm not a Domino's fan either. 🤣🤣🤣

Green money buys you the same high power attorneys and favor. O.J. Simpson is a perfect example of this. A black man and a dead wealthy white woman and man with no conviction? Yeah... you can see what the determining factor is. Of course in the United States there are more Caucasian people and so more wealthy white people so it's going to appear to be more prevalent. Bottom line is poor people do not get equal representation under the law and do not have access to competent legal council. Statistically those who get the best treatment ( lightest sentences ) despite any other attributing factors are the wealthy and women.

In Iranian highly wealthy and extremely religious group, there is a phenomenon called Aghazadeh-ha (son of a wealthy or powerful family) They are excluded from law and prosecution, have access to unlimited money, and cause all kinds of different problems for the community. Their parents mainly have serious involvement with the current government. They are mainly children born and raised in families with enormous, sudden and easy, unhealthy wealth and a hand in politics. There was one incident that a woman from a really wealthy political family said “I couldn’t find a good high school for my son, therefore I opened one”. This comment being said on tv created a lot of anger for people. A while ago an extremist, related to Iranian politics and clergy, commented: "Our kids' access to money and expensive cars and luxury and countless trips around the world is because of “great genes” and has nothing to do with their parents being wealthy or politician. " He was aiming at people who criticized “Aghazaadeh-ha" for getting into a high political position without any education or experience.

Ted Kennedy was blackout drunk at a party, as a married man, hanging out with young women, and he "accidentally" made a wrong turn to a beach, where (I think we can guess what he was going to do with her). Then he ran from the accident scene, had accomplices try to help him escape the area, and it took him 8 hours to report the accident. Can you imagine if he was a poor or middle class teenager? He would spend probably years if not a decade in prison, and would never be able to get a good job or live a normal life. Ted Kennedy, on the other hand, was a privileged man, so he gets 3 months of informal probation. He would never be able to get a good job after that.. just kidding, he spent over 30 years as a US senator. Ethan Couch is the same way. He thought he was invincible, too rich for anything to apply to him. He was never sorry for what happened. The only thing he regretted was not being able to party some more. Ted Kennedy and Ethan Couch both had affluenza. They believe they're so rich that they can never face punishment. Sadly, it's not a belief, it's reality
