You seem to me to have excellent higher order processing skills. As a person who did a psych degree, went on to major in neuropsych, i feel like your skills in communicating convoluted information is so well tuned. I didnt get to go as far as i would have liked in neuropsych but i work with people with disabilities, which i love. I just wanted to say that your communication skills are so admirable. I really appreciate this channel, in a youtube sea of channels, for this particular capacity of yours. Cheers from Australia Dr Grande

Also, some people just don't do well in a herd environment. There should be more alternative opportunities for students to pursue their academic goals in a more individualized setting. Few adults would stay in a work environment where they were routinely bullied and harassed; I don't know why we expect children to endure something that most adults, given the choice, would not tolerate.

I was worried it was going to go all Sweeney Todd there for a second... It's nice to know he wasn't one of those "weird" serial killers. Thanks for the continued great content Dr Grande. It's a bit personal, though I feel like I need to thank you directly. I currently live alone under lockdown, and unfortunately it hasn't been pleasant, especially given I was recently diagnosed with MDD and GAD... However, I live in Australia, and waking up during this time is quite difficult (primarily unmotivated and very irritable), but for some reason I can always tolerate and look forward to your new videos when getting up, I think it's due your genuine demeanor, interesting topics, educational value and humour. Amongst other good traits of course. So thank you for making my mornings easier, and helping me get out of bed and function during these difficult times 😅 probably sounds like a lot of praise and dramatic, but it's completely true nonetheless. Thank you for hard work. Also.. If I may make a request, please do a video on the analysis of Sweeney Todd, haha. Or, an easier non-fictional person (of us sharing the same home city, funny enough) would be Chopper Read. No obligation, but either of those two would be awesome! Haha. Anyway, cheers. Stay safe. Thank you for analyzing this case. I grew up in Anchorage and have been fascinated by it since childhood. My mother and I have visited and left flowers at the grave of Hansen's unknown victim, known as Eklutna Annie, several times over the years. She's believed to have been killed by him in late 1979 to spring 1980, and to this day she's still unidentified. NCMEC has released an updated reconstruction of what she may have looked like just this summer.

I met Robert Hansen at his bakery. My mother was there the day he opened. He would get up early in the morning, 3-4 am, bake, and be open by 8. His skills were good. He hired young women to run the bakery during the day. He was not outgoing or friendly, and did not make eye contact hardly ever with me. It was strange. He was NOT outgoing. You should read the book Butcher Baker. He did not have a cabin. His wife was a meek, religious lady and he had 2 daughters. He would send them out of town to visit family, and those are the weekends he picked up the prostitutes, took them home and chained them in his basement. Then at the end of the weekend after torturing them he would fly them to a private area and hunt them down. Other than a girlfriend in the early 70’s and the one that got away, I’m not familiar with anyone he let go. They were buried in shallow graves, if at all. He was small of statue, low end of normal IQ range. He was cruel to his wife and bossy. They couldn’t find his guns until they finally looked in the attic under the angel hair insulation. He acted meek. I appreciate your insights, however, you have his basic personality wrong. They loved him in prison. He cooked and was quiet. He died of a heart attack. By the way, he was an excellent hunter, and his basement was full of animal trophies. No woman survived the hunt.

This predator murdered my friend Sue Luna. All of us pled with her not to go, but the talent agency had their foot on her neck and she felt she had to. She was green to this stuff and her lovely trusting nature was perceived by Hanson as the perfect prey. He booked a big money photo shoot, and she went and never was seen again. I was 16 and Sue was 23 at the time, I rode to the airport with her to support my grrrl no matter what. She was only there for 3 days and vanished, we knew she wouldn't just stop calling her daughter Elizabeth 5 y/o at that time.. such a huge loss to all who knew her, such a nice, sweet gal, I miss her every day, and think of her often. He was her polar opposite, selfish, evil little douche, hope he's rotting in he'll He deserves every second of it!

The police probably didn't take Cindy Paulson's accusation seriously because 1) two of Hansen's neighbors independently corroborated Hansen's alibi that he was with them at the time of the crime, and 2) Cindy Paulson subsequently refused to be questioned under polygraph. Of course, Hansen's neighbors were lying, and Cindy may have been distrustful of police. All of that said, the fact that Cindy's allegation was not taken more seriously seems absurd by modern policing standards.

Dr. Grande, would you please do an analysis of how these serial killers are able to compartmentalize their thinking and manage to get wives, children, and jobs, all the while doing the most heinous acts to women. And if they hate women, why do they get married? How are they able to carry on with what they are doing and at the same time live apparently blameless lives? Is it two different personalities or something else?

It reminds me of a short story, but I can’t remember the name of it. There’s a man on a boat headed to go jaguar hunting, but he falls of the boat and swims to an island where he meets a man who imports humans to island in order to hunt them as he was bored of hunting animals. He found hunting humans more fulfilling because they have reason. I realized as I typed the name of the sort is “The Most Dangerous Game.”

I think this is the first instance of a serial killer I've ever been genuinely intrigued by the nature of his marriage; I wish there could be some kind of follow up or study of the spouses. Given there would be some form of abuse, at the least in the form of manipulation - I'm still extremely curious about the dynamics of the marriage and how his disdain for females may or may not have bled into their relationship. Surely assessing and studying the family and spouses of these personality types in a greater capacity could lead to further insight of mental health, criminality as well as what dynamics could implicate future offending. Not to suggest that we don't already have some information that we could speculate over, it's just how much more can we learn from those 'close' to these personality types?

A clear definition of what a serial killer looks like: A sharp nose profile, pantyhose stockings on his head, carrying a club, and wearing a *TODD GRANDE* hoodie saying "Hi, I'm a Serial Killer" if you don't know by now. Perhaps passing out pamphlets to anyone who would be willing to write a book posthumously on his or her life. Thanks Dr. Grande. My father used to correct me at the dinner table when I was holding the knife, spoon and fork in the 'wrong' hand when I was a little boy 3-5yo I'd say. I grew up under loving conditions I wouldn't say I was ever 'forced' to stop being lefthanded but today I'm right-handed my studdering stopped in my 30s but I've studdered most my life and periodically it used to get really bad at times. My mom always told me the doctors said the stuttering was because the umbellicsl cord was strangling me and I had to come out through a C-section. Just felt I needed to mention this in case anyone else can relate.

As a mathematician and computer scientist with a strong interest in paradoxical phenomena, it's automatic for me to imagine you evaluating yourself for the five factor personality model, starting by telling yourself you are not diagnosing yourself but only speculating about what might be happening in a case like this. You put any additional thoughts in your comments section because they always generate an interesting internal dialogue. So suppose we can also diagnose diagnoses (you basically do this all the time so it's entirely normal and natural). Any system of reasoning that allows this will necessarily contain diagnoses of the following nature (to pick just one example). If there is a reason for why the diagnosis of this sentence is true then is there is a shorter reason for why it is false. (I'm sure you must have days that feel like this). The ability to resolve this diagnosis diagnosis might be a definitive test for Pure Mathematician Disorder ... it means you can never demonstrate within this diagnosis reasoning system that it is logically valid.
