Meghan claims that she was singled out for attack by the tabloid press because she was biracial. But as a Brit with a long memory I remember Katherine Middleton’s background was pored over with some derision. The problem with Katherine was not her race but her class. Her parents started out as lower middle class: they worked for British Airways in average jobs. Then they developed a business idea and became successful. Their accents are not cut glass but downmarket. The tabloids dug out information about Kate’s grandparents and her sister. Before that, Prince Andrew’s wife to be (commonly known as Fergie) was “investigated”: her previous boyfriends, her debts, her “galloping Major philandering father”. All the dirty linen was publicised. King Charles’s phone was hacked in which he made quite lewd remarks to his now wife: wishing he was her tampon! So Meghan’s treatment was no different to other members of the royal family.

Thank you Dr. Grande for this analysis. You’re educating the world about how dangerous narcissism is. You’re right. Thanks to her for teaching us on narcissism and destroying lives especially her family and her in-laws. They met on Instagram and checked his profile. But on their engagement interview she said they were introduced by a “friend”… ahhh… the lies. They’re changing their stories, I can’t even keep up. 😮 Thanks to her we’re now aware on how deep narcissistic behaviour can do to any human being. It doesn’t matter if you’re family/friends, staff. One sided story, super unconscious bias and they’ve never stopped talking since they left. We now know who she truly is. And Harry’s enabled her bad behaviour all along. Because. He can’t believe that a ginger can attract a woman like her. Yes. He was targeted and trapped now in this nasty web of drama. She uses word salad but her actions doesn’t match at all. Her energy is negative, have that angry vibe, and vindictive. We never heard of her reaching out to her father especially when he got sick. 😢 In fact, she doubled down in saying that she doesn’t have a father or sister. Like they never existed. Who does that? 😱 That’s why people don’t like her. It’s not about her excuse using the race card. 😱 Who can relate to their one sided story? They’re not convincing people now because they’re more aware about the actual truth. Not their version of “truth.” Harry is the only one who is seen wearing a Nazi uniform. And she married him, right? Boring story that is toxic, divisive and totally self-absorbed. This documentary shows how they want to be seen, heard, validated, and accepted by the public. Yet. It’s not happening. The problem is people can see through her and Harry early on. Red flags everywhere. ROYAL LESSON THAT WILL GO DOWN IN HISTORY Entitled. Zero empathy. Grandiose narcissism. 😮

Here’s my interpretation: Harry is acting out his childhood loss of his mother. By conflating his mother and his wife and their respective victim hoods, he creates a scenario where by escaping, he is able to “save the mother” with his wife playing the role of his mother and he, the father, saves the little boy - him with his own son playing the part of son in this unconscious drama. I do feel bad for him in that losing one’s mother at 12 is totally devastating and without extensive therapy, will negatively affect the person emotionally. Even with therapy, there’s a pretty big scar there. Meghen simply has narcissistic personality disorder (possibly borderline too). She needs to subsume Harry, control him (and tries to control pretty much the whole world), isolate him from his family and friends. She needs to be the center of attention, she is grandiose and views herself, simply as being married to a Prince, true royalty, an international star, a revered philanthropist. I think most people see through her mask and facade. I think they have miscalculated their most recent move with the Netflix series. I think it’s going to take them down.

Great analysis Dr. Grande. I want to add that this is NOT a documentary, it is a publicity scheme. Note how so many of their most touching and intimate moments seem so choreographed as if they have photographers on round the clock retainer tasked with building a fairly tale image that Megan is so intent on managing. She apparently believes that if she tries hard enough, she can market this to the world, which will respond with adulation. What Megan misses, is that deeply good people tend to have a measure of empathy and compassion for others and are willing to cope with some measure of slight, embarrassment or even suffering to preserve their relationships. Brit here! It is well known that the British Royal Family make sure that every person who marries into the family, a commoner, if you will, and becomes close to any member as a boyfriend or girlfriend, are taught and shown by the Palace who to behave in every circumstance, and what is expected of them - including press and paparazzi. It isn't for everyone, but so many have stuck by their royal partner and have adapted to Royal expectations, that they have flourished and given back in many ways the privileges they are given. Most of the partners of the Royal Family are ordinary people - including the new Princess of Wales, have gone on to achieve great things via being a member of the the RF.

Thank you so much for your analysis Dr. Grande! As a future LCSW, you are truly inspiring! "The disapproval of the British royal family stings so painfully that only validation from the rest of the world will compensate it" sums up the documentary so well!
@shelaco13212 жыл бұрын
But remember, the British royal family didn't disapprove of her. She was the ONLY royal fiance to ride on the Royal train with the queen. She refused to wear tights and a hat which is required for formal royal dress code on this type of occasion and she was the ONLY royal fiancee to ever be invited to Christmas at Sandringham. It's clear from the timing of some of the images taken in the documentary that she and Harry had planned their leaving either before or very close to the date of the wedding. Their goal was a commercial plan to exploit the name of the Royal family. Many of us hope their titles will be revoked and they will then have to make their way as Mr and Mrs Windsor, nothing more.

@Hel Lo No, they are not. I have close friends, a family where the mother left without warning. The 11 year old son was affected very badly, and is Harry's age now, and still quite immature. The two older children, 15 and 18 did much better, especially the 18 year old. Not saying it's like this for every 11 year old, but over the years, I can see how he was crushed by this. One minute, he had SuperMom, next minute, she ran off with another guy and told the Dad "You tell him. I just can't." So, some people are very strong thru trauma, and some just aren't. Not sure why.

She aready tried to do it with Prince Louie and Catherine's parenting by making snide remarks about teaching kids manners. Thank you Dr Grande as a British citizen the whole docudrama to date has been a nauseating rewriting of ‘their truth ‘. One many of us don’t recognise or ever saw. We have always tried to be empathetic to both Harry and William since the death of their mother . We in the majority highly welcomed Megan and were supportive of the engagement and wedding . King Charles walked her down the aisle for goodness sake …. Sadly in their enthusiasm for displaying their ‘victim hood’ they have whinged and accused at a time when Harry’s Grandfather was on his deathbed with their tripe interview with Opera .( yes I know the spelling of her name ) Then carried on planning this tooth rotting sickly sweet filming, at a time when our Monarch had developed bone cancer and just celebrated 70 years on the throne . Whether one is a royalist or not she was working two days before she died on state papers . The whinging of these two self indulged self entitled people from their prison of luxury filmed actually not in their own home but a more grand one up the road from theirs , has clearly shown their masks 🎭 falling to the floor . I think this was geared to the American audience , no disrespect, but as we see , it’s appearing to backfire hugely . Your analysis, although I know you are not diagnosing , is in my humble opinion spot on , right on the money if you will pardon the pun . 🕊🇬🇧

I suspect that he didn’t realize what he was getting into when he aligned (allegedly) with media. Meghan made it clear that she never moved forward, after the wedding, to heal this relationship. When she knew his phone had been compromised by the media and she knew it wasn’t her father texting her, she did nothing. I mean she did try calling “20 times” but I would’ve been worried FOR my father. I mean someone else was texting her pretending to be him. Instead she cut ties. You never disappoint. This analysis is superb, laced with irony and insight. Your explanation of how Harry's behaviour may have helped him bring a sense of purpose to Diana's death was eye-opening. As for MM - "the lady doth protest too much, methinks." Or, as you put it, "What Megahn could not stand about being a member of the Royal Family was the rule about being quiet." 👍

The funniest part of the whole thing was seeing the clips of young queen Elizabeth sounding resolute, determined, competent, and poised after inheriting the responsibility of the monarchy at 21 years old while her middle aged, soft grandson and his 40-year old wife whined for hours about having to figure out how to work their dating schedule, which fork to use, and what colors to wear in public. The fact that these 2 pampered adults are either incompetent and proud of it or trying to seem relatable by appearing incompetent tells me all I need to know about their intended audience!
@sds5502 Жыл бұрын
So true, HRH Elizabeth was a class act all her life. But she came from different generation and time. She grew into her role as a young teenager during WWII and even drove a truck and learned how to repair vehicles. She was born a princess and took the role of Queen with grace, dignity and honor. RIP YOUR MAGESTY, you are missed.

I battened down my personal "hatches" (😊) and gagged my way thru all 3 episodes. Painful as it was, it only reinforced my belief that these two are a couple of the most self-absorbed nit-wits that have come along in a long time. Thank you, Dr G, for putting into eloquent words and logical perspective an accurate picture of what's happening in the sad lives of these people.

These 2 have a total lack of insight and their manipulation and entitlement are breathtaking. Thank you for your insights on Harry’s actions as I’ve often wondered what was driving his need to destroy his own family when all he’d have to do was distance himself from them in order to protect himself and his wife from any perceived untoward actions. As always, thank you Dr. Grande for your analysis. Maybe you could address in one of your episodes those persons who live to deny that narcissism exists. I’d love to know what actually drives this aberrant thinking, especially since you speak on the topic of narcissism so often. Thank you!

Wonderful analysis, thank you, Dr. Grande! I didn't know the term "communal narcissism" before and I think it fits perfectly for this case. I also liked the way you described their love as a reflection of self-love. Best analysis I've seen on this documentary.

Thank you for your interesting observations, I did not watch the documentary, but so many channels are putting fragments that I can say I'm glad i didn't. It's almost painful to watch the nastiness of some of their behavior and at the same time, they use their titles to sell their resentment to the many recipients: her family, his family, the media, the country, etc. I don't know what it is like to be so angry about everything, but they seem to be utterly unhappy.

Thank you, Dr. Grande. You take my visceral response to these two (ugh) and translate it into clear, informed thoughts. Your mention of Meghan's use of key words brought to mind a thought I do have, that Meghan would do well to take up cultural sensitivity training herself, so that she can understand and appreciate the customs of the British culture that she married into.

Right? The smallest dab of empathy or sympathy or kindness would have a person look at people in a Kinder light then what she and Harry have done. Especially your family! These two posers have no Grace, their hearts are filled with selfishness.

Another thing, your deep dive into Harry made me sad, but then again, I also realize that some people are destined to never let things go, and simply can't move on. She's using that part of him to further herself which makes her even more despicable actually. If H hadn't been born into so much wealth and was just a commoner, I'm sure his life would've had the same tragic feel, except it would be him sitting homeless on a street corner telling people some other bad luck, woe is me story, whereas MM would still be successful to a certain degree because of her malevolent, me first nature.
@d3muskatears6952 жыл бұрын
It is not malevolent. Stop demonizing her. You are adding to her persecution complex by polarizing her emotions. You are feeding into the thing you are criticizing.
