One of my cases, the suspect was a reputed psychologist, who proved to be a fraud. Long story short, he thought he was the smartest person in the room. Biggest mistakes most offenders make is they don’t know when to stop talking. With the exception of only one occasion in my ten years, everyone wanted to give their side of the story which always led to their downfall and conviction. The only one who ever refused to talk to me was a four time loser in the prison system. Sometimes I got to the point that I thought they wouldn’t stop talking. And when I say kindness, it is just as simple as smiling and saying hello each time I saw them. These situations can be very scary. People's brains work differently and sometimes bad experiences can be taken out on innocent victims simply bc the person they hurt reminds them of someone in their past. Most people just want to be liked or acknowledged. If this man ends up being the murderer, I am very curious to see what he was thinking about and why he did it.

The other thing I do not like is it just helps push the narrative that socially awkward people just want to hurt others. I'm socially awkward as I never had many friends and then for many years escaped into alcoholism to try and make friends which has just made it even harder for me to try and make friends as I've gotten older but I don't think about going out and hurting others, even if they try and hurt me. I'm sure 99% of socially awkward people feel the same.

Ugh, I hate it too. I have social anxiety and can be awkward in social settings. I hate when they describe someone that didn't something horrible as being that way. They have much more going on with them than that.
@tessiepinkman2 жыл бұрын
I agree. I have Aspergers and Borderline personality disorder, I am prone to psychosis and have crippling anxiety, so bad that without Xanax I can't get out of bed, and the other medications I take makes me feel so tired, and that doesn't exactly help to get out there and meet people. Most people would certainly describe me as socially awkward, and I really really hate when that is one of the things they *always* mention when they find "their" killer. And it *really* fucking sucks. There are other traits they can push in front of the cameras, socially awkward people would rather stay inside and not meet people at all than go out and kill somebody and risking being pushed in front of the spotlight, or not succeed and be terrified of people laughing at them. If a killer is socially awkward, it's most likely because of a lack of empathy - not something like Aspergers or social anxiety.

Happy New Year everyone. I hope your year’s already started to sparkle. I was thrilled to see this upload Dr. Grande! This case was heart wrenching. I wonder if people had been kinder to Brian, would he have ever done something like this? But at the same time, the fact that he was mistreated in life doesn’t excuse his actions. A lot of people are bullied. Few of them commit any crime, let alone a quadruple murder. Thank you for expounding on this subject Dr. Grande.
@realAnnB2 жыл бұрын
It's the bullying and it starts in the schoolyard. It warps and twists the minds of small children and/or teenagers and a few turn out like this. Schools need to have zero tolerance for bullying. These poor 4 college students and their families paid the price of our inaction. People threw things at him? Why didn't someone stop this? I would have. Where were the teachers or bystanders? There's no excuse for what he did and he has to pay. But we have the power to stop some of this in the future.
@nvbluesky2 жыл бұрын
I appreciate you bringing the subject of kindness to bear on this. All people deserve to be treated with kindness and decency. Of course that isn’t the world we live in so bullying does go on especially among the young who in their youth don’t realize the gravity bullying can have on their peers. They don’t have the life experience. I just wish more attention would be directed to this awful behavior and its impact on lives. I don’t feel sorry for the suspected perpetrator, Bryan, but it does factor into his possible motive for committing such a horrible crime. The whole situation is awful. Maybe he had undiagnosed Aspergers syndrome which would explain his social awkwardness.
@echuparosa2 жыл бұрын
Life is difficult and cruel in many different ways. While I agree that bullying is terrible for the psyche and people should be kinder, I doubt it makes a difference with some people. People with certain mental pathologies will find a reason to harm no matter what. Their boss made them mad, their spouse made them mad, etc cetera. Don't blame the world. Blame the person who unalived ppl. The difference is a person without certain pathologies will be bullied but never kill someone. A person with certain pathologies will always find a reason why the world owes them more. It's part of the mental pathology. It's part of the delusion of grandeur.
@higgaroc2 жыл бұрын
Yes, I think the same here. Bullying is absolutely terrible and damaging. I was bullied a lot as a kid for the way I looked and dressed. It damaged my personality no doubt about it, but I do not want to hurt people, and I am one of probably millions who fit into this category. It seems like there’s another element at work here, possibly in combination with the bullying, that caused him and others like him to become so incredibly violent. Anyways, it’s a relief to see that someone was arrested. Happy new year Dr. G and all!

What is the reason for not burning the vehicle once he heard they caught it on camera the evening of/early morning after the murders? (LE didn't have to farther than the campus next door, after checking their own.) Did he own it? Was he afraid of his parents wondering what happened to it if he torched it? He must have hated them, as well as one more than the others in that "party house". It could be at the bottom of a lake, river, quarry in just about half of PA, or any state in between there and Idaho. After yrs of studying dangerous criminals, one would think he'd kill the car/ditch the weapon and wear gloves, like OJ, no?

Yes, I'm reminded of that line from the movie Body Heat (back in the 1980s): "In an operation like this, 50 things can go wrong. If you can think of 25 of them, you're a genius. And you're no genius." Also, once he heard they had pretty much figured out what his car was, he should have been on the next plane out of the country to Libya (or wherever they don't have extradition to the U.S.). Ditto for SBF. He should have left the Bahamas and headed for parts unknown after he resigned from FTX.

@@someoneout-there2165 So how he got into the house? Something don’t add up.
@rickbrenner60792 жыл бұрын
I agree. I also think he wanted to commit the perfect murder, and that his selection of a house of girls was chosen not due to “rage at being rejected by women in his past”, but because women, especially petite women (if he first scoped out the house ahead of time to see who occupied the residence) are easier to stab to death than men. I believe he is a sadistic psychopath who kills for the thrill of killing. He didn’t need (or want) to sexually assault any of the young ladies because the act of killing them in the manner he killed them satisfied his sexual urges, as he equates violence with sex. Plus, sexually assaulting them and leaving his ejaculate at the crime scene would make it that much easier for LE to identify and catch him.

I'm very concerned at the media coverage, even in the UK: so many seem to assume 'this is the guy' when he's only been arrested on suspicion & IS innocent until proven guilty, beyond a reasonable doubt. I can't imagine how it must feel to be in this situation, if you're innocent. We may still have the killer on the loose - something that's happened plenty of times in the past. A suspect may be all-sorts of things, their behaviour may be odd, they may have had bad interactions with others - but that doesn't mean they're guilty of anything. Let the course of justice run.

It’s guilty until proven innocent in America. That’s why you have to pay a bondsman to get out on bail before your even convicted. Then you have to pay a lawyer, take time off work, gas money,all of which you never get back when acquitted. Not even the bail money. It’s a business in America.
