The saddest thing about Adam Levine is that his voice would probably be pretty impressive if he actually... DID anything with it. In all of his songs, he sings like a person who can’t actually sing. No runs, just talky-falsetto in chopped sentences. If the guy just released a single where he actually holds a note and has interesting lyrics, maybe even work a ballad or something equivalent, he could probably do it great. He just... doesn’t. There’s just no passion, no energy, it’s empty white noise. He’s the poster child for automated pop music. It’s like all of his work has been created by an algorithm and then produced through a filter.
@gamerguy4255 жыл бұрын
if you want to see him DO something with it look up... like Songs About Jane or anything from Kara's Flowers. There is more fucking integrity and creativity... and just QUALITY in "Soap Disco" than everything they've released since "moves like jagger" combined. it's fucking night and day, he's gone the entire spectrum from completely undeservedly ignored and underrated to monstrously overhyped and overrated shit.

It's such a shame. Their first album (Songs About Jane) actually showed some potential. I was playing some songs off of it a few weeks ago, and a younger coworker of mine came in, heard what was playing (I think it was Sunday Morning or The Sun), and asked "who is this?" "Maroon 5", I replied. He gave a sarcastic laugh and asked, "but seriously, who is this?" When I showed him that is was, indeed, Maroon 5, and explained that it was from their first album, he was absolutely stunned and almost shouted "THIS is Maroon 5?! What the hell happened to them?!" Anyone who hasn't heard some of the songs from their first album, I would say check them out. Yes, some are clear indications of the garbage that they would produce from then on out up until this very day, and the better ones actually make the shit generator that they became even more tragic, but there are some, in my opinion, pretty decent songs, and even one or two damn good ones, especially among those not released as singles at the time.

Was it because the song was beautiful, or emotional, or really spoke to me in some kind of deep or meaningful way? Not on your life. It was because something suddenly clicked in my mind..... I had sort of a subconscious epiphany that this is what music is now. This depressing, bland, sterilized load of complete and utter nothing that was coming out of the speakers and wafting through the air in a public place where people go to buy things. .........and I was participating in it just by being there and hearing it. There I was, in the middle of the store, and no joke... this song, before I even knew what I was feeling, triggered that "What is my life??" part of my brain and I was suddenly having to hold back tears. It wasn't just a reminder that this is a very soulless, depressing time in the country right now, this is just a very soulless, depressing recent culture, and I suddenly had this mini-revelation, smack dab in the middle of a Best Buy, hearing "Girls Like You" by Maroon 5 playing on the radio while looking at the same "New Releases" as last month in the Blu-Ray section, that we've reached the point where the "human music" from Rick and Morty is real, with no irony or satire in the situation to be found.

Pretty late, Chicago didnt exactly sellout in a traditional sense. They just let Peter Cetera write music. Their first album (their best album) had zero no songs written by Cetera, and their second album had one Cetera song and it was bad and a super easy listening song. Robert Lamm wrote most of Chicago's best songs but eventually ran out of ideas. Terry Kath (performer of Hendrix's favorite guitar solo) was just happy to support the band in anyway. When Cetera's song started being hits the label kept pushing for him to be the main frontman (a position he formally shared with Kath and Lamm) and well, the rest is history. Kath's death cemented Chicago's direction.

Maroon 5's dominance and the demise of pop music makes me miss Taylor Swift. Not reputation-era Taylor Swift, but the real Taylor Swift we got until 2015. So, Todd, you acknowledge that the Superbowl performance killed the Black-Eye Peas' career? I'm gonna be on the lookout for their "Trainwreckords" episode!

Stephanie Wozny I’m sincerely hoping the theory holds true for Maroon 5’s performance😂

It's been eight years. The Black-Eyed Peas ended halfway through Obama's first term. The Black-Eyed Peas ended while the 5th generation of IPhone was still a concept. The Black-Eyed Peas ended before LMFAO released their debut album 'Sorry for Party Rocking'. The Black-Eyed Peas ended the year Conan O'Brien left the Today Show. The Black-Eyed Peas ended before House M.D. did. But thanks to 'I gotta feelin' being played in every supermarket, pet store or school function, it still feels like yesterday.

They won't fit the trainwreckords format because it wasn't an album that killed them, they just sort of faded out.
@JamesOhGoodie5 жыл бұрын
dayzgone No? What have they done since?
@stephaniewozny38525 жыл бұрын
@@camzoman , I've seen people make the argument that it was in fact their album "The Beginning", along with the Superbowl performance, that killed their careers. So, yes, it would qualify for Trainwreckords. The Superbowl performance just adds another layer.

I think every single black artist the NFL approached for the Super Bowl LIII halftime show turned down the spot because they would be giving a tacit approval to the NFL's ruling that kneeling for the national anthem is unpatriotic.

At least Nickelback has songs with actual meaning behind them. "Gotta be Somebody" says that even though you feel alone at the moment, there's somebody out there who's like you and will love you. "If Everyone Cared" says that we all swallowed our pride and cared for one another, the world would be a better place. "Feed the Machine" talks about how we're controlled by people in power and that we're manipulated by swallowing their lies. "Edge of Revolution" says that we should stand up and rebel against a government or force that's trying to control us. "When we Stand Together" says that we can build a better world if we work together. And even the songs that aren't very meaningful can still rock hard. I think Nickelback gets WAY TOO much hate! Especially since there exist hundreds of other bands and musicians that are far worse than they are. Maroon 5 being one of them.

I don't want to sound like that guy but I miss music from the old days. And by the old days I mean early 2000s-2010s. Like when Todd was just starting up, music was obnoxious but at least it was uniquely obnoxious and happy fun party stuff. I'm gonna say it.... I miss Pitbull, you guys.

I actually feel the same way. There have been very few good songs since the 2nd album. The acoustic version of Misery was good, same with The Man who never lied, Lucky Strike and Maps.

I'd gladly take Peter Cetera over Adam Levine. At least Cetera didn't sound like a robot and could hit his high notes comfortably. (Granted, I do have a soft spot for Chicago, particularly their jazz years. So it's most-likely bias on my end.)
@Flamestar3204 жыл бұрын
And he was one heck of a bassist in Chicago's early years. Just check out "Introduction" from their first album when they were named _Chicago Transit Authority._ The bass playing on the whole album is very good, but the first track in particular is great stuff.
@ethancole43593 жыл бұрын
Agreed. Peter Cetera even at his worst has more personality than this robot. And I love Chicago and I don't care to admit it. To compare Chicago with Maroon 5 is like comparing apples to oranges. Chicago's early work is very creative. Even some of their 80's songs are good ngl. Maroon 5 had one alright album "Songs About Jane" But "Chicago Transit Authority" is a great album. If it was Maroon 5 compared with the Eagles before Joe Walsh then were talking.

Adam Levine is like the Adam Sandler of music. He could do a lot better a lot more, but just doesn’t because it’s easier to make easy, mass-produced garbage. *i want to see adam sandlers new movie, cant say i look forward to adam levine’s next venture*

I unsubbed to Lindsay Ellis (formerly *Nostalgia Chick* who used to collab with Todd in the Shadows) since she made a “moving” defense towards Stephenie Meyer/Twilight while saying that it’s hypocritical to (highly) prefer The Fast and the Furious over Twilight (yes, she has been infamous for treating The Fast and the Furious like “Twilight for teenage boys”) instead of Michael Bay/Bayformers, Ken Penders/2010s Archie Comics and Adam Sandler/Happy Madison.

I don’t understand the US. Charlie Puth In 2015/2016 is the worst thing about existence, and we make all of his songs hits. Then 2017 rolls around, and we give him one big hit, but he gets less and less success as time continues. Done For Me was easily his best song, and we just let that song drop like rock in water.
