@commonsense26802 жыл бұрын
I totally agree that actors, Hollywood, and professional athletes, all of whom I categorize as pure entertainers, are unfortunately elevated in our society to much more value that the more important members of society like teachers, first responders, public electricians, trash collectors, and everyone else we really need as a society to function. I equate actors and similar as the equivalent of the court jesters from the middle ages who were only there to entertain rich people and royalty, but totally unnecessary to society otherwise.

A potently transformational counselling skill is a tool called “developing discrepancy”. It’s essentially noticing that people are not living lives with alignment. Not true at all! I'm an artist. I'm from a family of artists. We don't get any respect until we make REALLY big money or until you see our faces everywhere. I dislike the way Tom Cruise behaved, but in our industry, that's called Tuesday! Mind you we have a multitude of talented & kind professionals who would never behave as Cruise did. There are still some who act out and most of us have either been dressed down like that or seen it happen.
@MondoRockable4 жыл бұрын
@@cinemathequerouge317 The entertainment industry can be tough for artists. You can be a great actor/singer/dancer/musician and perhaps you never get the respect you deserve or crave (depending on how you measure it). Most people however recognize artistic talent, whether displayed innately and/or through hard work. The problem is, as Grande alluded to, people like Cruise are in a position of power and authority and can pretty much say what they want, when they want, and how they want ("another Tuesday" as you suggested). They're entertainers, not diplomats, negotiators, corporate leaders, or academics, and likely lack the appropriate skillset to resolve complex issues in an appropriate fashion (i.e. not a tirade).

Tom Cruise has had really good reputation as one of the kindest actor out there but the scientology really is fucking him up. I am a former brainwashed cult member because my parents was and still is a member up until today. Cults really have 90% control over you.. they have this daily personal confession about your current situation and thoughts and because you wholeheartedly believed in them then you will tell even your deepest secrets and struggles because you believe it's the right thing to do..allowing them to access your whole being and decided what you should do. They will make you feel like you are above than the rest of the people because you are the chosen one and that all the rest needs to be save... that kind of mindset really helped me make lots of money for then. I Infact come here in US using R1(religious visa), I got recruited to be "missionary" here but all I actually did was to walk and sell sell and sell! Making a weekly average of $2.5k (No joke) some of our top "fundraiser" have a daily average of $1k and on Friday or Saturday will be $3k..we enter every establishment..we are the earliest to wake up and the last to fall asleep specially during weekends when the last bar will close in our area... but what made me make such money by just walking with very little items? It's because I pulled up a different persona. I overcome my shyness and become really tough and charming...how? It's because I truly believe that God is on my side and I am the chosen one, higher than all these people...their money will be restored and that might very well paved the way for their salvation one day... I didn't give an Fvck even if they make money out of criminal activities as long as they give them to me and will be put to good use. That's the danger of dogmatic views and ideology. These people don't need judgmental society! They need people who are welling to put effort to educate them. For someone like tom cruise whose been invested so much and are so deep into it already?... oh boy it will take blood sweat and tears to just try to get him listen to you.

Imagine being imprisoned with a certain belief that when you make a slightest mistake/disobedience you will be guilty tripped to the extreme level and felt like worst than a sinner. . The author makes a strong link between his inability to be without a girlfriend from the age of 7 (he would desperately start begging other girls to date him whenever he got dumped from the 2nd grade onward) and his involvement in Scientology. He cannot bear to be alone or without adoration for any given time. Screaming and swearing is very David Miscavige like behaviour, those two are like peas in a pod and Tom regularly treats Sea Org members this way despite his nice guy persona.

@arnehusby1420 He's an actor. He wants to appear pleasant to the public, but his scientology and his egotistical behaviour speaks for itself. He makes Billions on his films, he ought to treat the crew with respect and decency. I don't see how the Hollywood industry's losing yet another "Mission Impossible" movie would make a difference in putting food on the publics' tables. He could do good things with his money, instead, he was Scientology to rule. A frightening prospect.

Dr. Grande I'd just like you to know that many times when you post a video on a certain topic I have an opinion formed and can watch and nod along with your words but JUST AS OFTEN...I see a topic that im undecided about, that I lack the wisdom and/or information about to form an educated opinion about. In the end...whether I completely agree with you or not isn't the point...its the unbiased and balanced presentation you give that helps me to understand. You ultimately keep me grounded and as fair as possible through your no nonsense approach. I am grateful to have found you and you serve as a mirror to bounce my opinions off of even without personal interaction with you. Please keep it up as you are serving a great purpose in what you do. If only the masses would tune into you instead of the Kardashians or other similar petty "entertainment". It would be a greater world indeed.

Your description of the way actors are put on a pedestal is well said. In my opinion the inherent problem with this is they have few 'equals' with no checks and balances that the rest of us have to realise the world does not revolve around us and it will continue if and when we aren't here.

I know it's a big movie, but it's actually easy to shoot a film according to these virus guidelines and have everyone come out fine and not even infected. So I don't think it was unsafe inherently. But yeah, if people break the rules then they can screw that up. Also keep in mind that Cruise is only one of several people who decided whether or not the next film would go ahead and shoot. Maybe he didn't want to but had no choice, we don't know.

I always thought Tom Cruise was overrated, and I completely lost any smidgeon of respect I had for him when he decided to go after Brooke Shields and then went on that tirade on The Today Show. His bullshit "apology" was just to save face, you could tell he wasn't sorry about a damn thing except for the backlash he got from former fans who were on psych meds or depended on therapy. Frankly I would be shocked if he doesn't see this (because the Church of Scientology tracks EVERYTHING said about them or their members) and then comes out with something calling you "glib" and then ranting about how he knows the history of psychiatry and knows better than someone with a PhD.

A little more background on Tom Cruise is that he grew up playing hockey. Apparently he was quite the fighter, always looking to go against anyone to prove how big and strong he is. His original last name was Mappother and he had a little brother. He also had chipped teeth from playing hockey. Hockey is not an easy game to play so he must have good coordination. To fight on skates you need a reasonably good understanding how to skate. I don't think he plays anymore.
