What's cool about Tom's transformation here is, it was a lost bet. His trainer bet him if the show got picked up, Tom would have to submit to his trainer's whims who wanted to push Tom farther than he'd gone with his training up until that point. With the right diet and program, he gained 20 pounds of muscle in three months between seasons. This is exactly what you want in a trainer, someone who, for one, knows what they're doing, but also knows how to get you motivated to put the work in.

@@TheJamsplat tbh, as much as I love Lucifer and I would love more reasons, I think that would ruin the show. I just want to see Lucifer and Chloe find a way to be together, and 1 season of doing that seems like enough. After that it just seems like filler. However, I would love a Lucifer spin-off, or perhaps a new show with some of the same characters that take place in the same universe. Or, you know, more bonus episodes.

I really enjoy both the biblical and the police procedural aspects of the show and with plenty more source material they would hardly exhaust it in another 12/13 episodes.

@@TheJamsplat I understand, that's reasonable. However, I still believe the main focus on the story is Lucifer and Chloe's relationship. Even during the detective work, the writing of the show is such that there's always an underlying metaphor that has something to do with how they're feeling or what they're going through. They're feelings compose most of the tension in every episode. Most stories end the same way, people finally getting together because what comes after isn't the main focus. Otherwise it would be kind of boring, and as I mentioned, ruin the story. That's what sequals are for. I'm not saying they can't make more interesting episodes or add more to the story; I would love to see them do that. I'm simply saying that it just wouldn't be the same show anymore, for better or worse.

@@sat4930 I want to ask because I'm extremely curious.. hes lifting a tiny amount of weight for his size it seems.. I'm extremely skinny.. I don't look anything like him. I look more skeleton like but I can shoulder press 40 lbs easy and squat 65 kilos like him for reps.. yet I dont look nearly as big as him. Also the bench press didnt seem that much. I could probably press that for a 1 rep or 2 since I can bench 155lbs for about 7-8 reps. So I'm just wondering why he dosnet seem much stronger than me yet he looks so much bigger. ? Is he just doing the bare minimum to maintain muscle mass that he put on in his youth?

oscar okay so there are a few things that might be going on here. Strength doesn’t have much to do with hypertrophy. He works out 6 times a week and he is probably training for hypertrophy compared to strength. Every time you take a set to failure you build muscle. Compared to doing 12 reps of whatever without filling like you’re about to drop the weight. 6-8 reps is a good range for gaining mass. He’s nutrition might be also on point. He’s bulking while working out hard which helps a lot with putting on mass. And he’s probably taking a lot of supplements I’m guessing testosterone or maybe even steroids because of how fast he put on muscle.

oscar it also has to do with your body type, you might be a ectomorph. It’s extremely hard for ectos to put on mass without eating A LOT. Keep lifting heavy and start eating more

@@sat4930 yes that's why I started lifting because I've always been skinny. And I although my strength has increased alot from when I started.. I'm not getting all that bigger. I started benching 100lbs 6 months ago.. now I do 155lbs for like 5 reps but I'm not looking much bigger even though I can lift heavier in all my exercises like squats, bench, deadlift, overhead press, rows, etc.. I do mostly compound exercises to workout as many muslces as possible at a time usually working out 4 times a week, 3 if I felt lazy in a particular day or was too sore. I'm just not getting the mass I want. But I'm lifting heavier each month.

What I love about this, is that it is something different to seeing all the super mesomorphic body type with muscles bulging everywhere in a workout video. It's great to see someone naturally leaner and quite tall showing a workout routine, so people with his body type can actually envision a goal of what to look like for themselves. As someone who is 6'2" and was never naturally strong until I starting working out, I really like to see this.

Seeing fancy and obscure equipment in some training videos is always cool, mostly from a novelty perspective, but I really dig it when people use classic lifts and focus on form. It's far more inspiring to the average person who's never lifted a weight in their life to know you don't need a crazy shoulder-press machine on multiple ball-bearing hinges to build a nice set of shoulders, and it shows that you don't need much to build a good physique or get into shape. Just the drive and discipline to get in and get it done. Kudos to Mr Ellis, and thanks to Men's Health for posting!
