I've been clean approaching 21 years. Everyday when I wake up I thank the Lord for his gift of life... And for the Angels he sent to me in the form of my wife and child. I've buried more friends and peers in 21 years than I'd ever imagined possible.... I feel for them as they never found the reason(s) to hang it up. If not for my wife and child, I know I'd be right there with them. They were, and still remain the sole reason and source of strength I needed to get clean. I was always told that idle hands were the devil's playground. What a true statement.

Addiction is gradual until it’s sudden! Several attempts later, and coming up on 14 years sober. If I can you can, one second at a time becomes one minute become a day become a week a month a year but the fight is always right now! I know my tigers are in the tall grass following along and staying low to the ground. Every second I watch and defend my ground as if my life depends on it, because it does! God bless all those in the fight, the weapons to defend come from our father in heaven. If you doubt this, how have your weapons worked so far? Just saying I’ve learned what works and God knows I’ve tried what doesn’t. If he created you, surely he can defend you. You have only to ask him.

Same…I’m scared but my life…my love is wrestling. So much wrestling has helped. Eddie Guerrero is an inspiration. Hearing Kevin Nash’s words about his son. My aunt saying I’ve seen people die before 40 from alcohol. Waking up asking God please help me. I’m trying so hard to phase alcohol out of my life. Last night was ROUGH. Every fiber of me was say drink up. But my soul was saying no! This song is helping too…rather ironic considering Tom was a wrestler.

Keep it up! I too am sober finally. I had a 23 year long gnarly Opiate addiction. Which began at 14 with My father feeding me prescription pain pills. I got sober at 37. I am now just over a year fully clean and sober. And I still am in a program and I go to my outpatient clinic 4x a week still! I started at 7 days a week. Very slowly allowed for tiny bits of more freedom. I think I’ll work a program of one kind or another for the rest of my life. Which is overwhelming at times to think too deeply about. But considering the absolute hell I survived in for the first half of my life this should be looked at as a blessing not a curse. It saved my life. I was praying every single night to not wake up the next day. I wanted to die I had become so depressed and trapped. But now my life is slowly getting better and better. I just wanted to tell you I know your pain. I understand the struggle. As well as the blessings That all come at you at once when you change your life and stop using and have to face everything head on that u have avoided or swept under the rug for so long. It sounds like your on an amazing path now! ❤

@iBobby2012 every addicts experience is different. Anyone who chooses to share their story through music, has their own creative way & style. A 'real' addict song is any song that is based on someone's life of addiction, recovery, relapses etc & there is no limit to that because you can get addicted to literally ANYTHING. It's not a competition. anyone that has went through, is going through, or is watching someone go through an addiction understand this and feel the pain to the core of their heart. You can't fucking fake addiction. You obviously don't understand. Just another salty man.

I drink because of work. How I really wanna put this kid on his back. I hate my morning job. Today was pushing 30 hours no sleep. Morning job didn’t help at all. I hate calling in. Night job is ironically a liquor store. I’m really trying to stop drinking. I feel like I’m fighting for my life. The people at the liquor store have been nothing but kind to me & for that I can’t thank them enough. A coworker at the liquor store is a worse drinker than me. I’d like to help him stop but I know he won’t.

For anyone still struggling, you can do it! Me and my husband used pills, heroin and cocaine together for over 7 years, lost everything we had, were homeless, in debt, in and out of jail. We are now still together, married, have 3 beautiful kids, own our own home and have everything we could want and need. We made it out together and have been sober for over 7 years! It can be done if you want it bad enough! And you can change your life around completely. Even if it seems hopeless and like you'll never get back to a normal life, you can!

I saw a comment from Nova, many months ago, saying that they were going to quit putting so much work into the making of their videos. I wish that they'd go back to making really visually captivating videos, again, at least once on awhile...like "Buttholes" because @NovaRockafeller is a master at that. Her videos add SO MUCH to the music...the colors & effects make it so I'm fully drawn in & have to watch them over & over. I have never seen videos as good as hers from any big label. They both have amazing futures ahead of them!

We have to learn to ok with being alone... We learn by doing. I love AA. through AA I have a tight support group, of friends I can reach out to and not feel so alone. I love my AA family , even though I came in because of meth addiction. They loved me through it. Now when I call enough of my Real friends, my clean and sober friends, one always answers. God is good.

The first time I head this song, it brought me back to the dark days when i was 14-16. my dad wasn't a good person and abused me. I'm only 17 now but still really depressed and drink behind their backs and vape all the time. this song has really touched me through all of the dark times when I'm unable to talk to my girl about the shit that goes on at home. Thanks Tom. your music is amazing!

I suffer from both anxiety & addiction. Fortunately I'm 16yrs sober but I would fight addiction 100 times over dealing with anxiety attacks, the paralysis when fireworks go off(PTSD). Addiction is hard to beat but is a lot easier than beating depression & anxiety. Baby steps, crawl if you have to, but keep moving forward, this too shall pass.

Im still on substitute medication but atkeast I see it as medicine again. I got addicted to painkillers after a severe accident. When I told my doctor i started to feel sick without it.she just cut the fentanyl straight off. No substitute no nothing no help. I feel quite ok now and actually started a Bible course even tho I'm not a believer. My goal is to be clean within 2 years maybe 1 it depends on surcomstances. I did a cold turkey and where clean for 2 years but I got suicidal so I went back. With the rehab help I'm sure I can do it right. GL everyone. I wonder how Tom could say cigarettes was the worst? That's easy.

@@egolysergic8499 You'll get it just stay strong. You gotta find a source of motivation to want to change, find new hobbies, stop associating with anyone who's involved in that life. It's a ton of work. I actually haven't been able to drop the cigarette habit myself yet 😔

@@hedgehogpancakes6174 The cigarette is easy compared to opiates but you will make it easy when you feel like quitting. Don't force it is my advice. It is a ton of job and I cut the strings to all the ppl I used to hang with. GL with staying clean and the cigarettes will come. First week is the worst. And I took up a hobby since my youth.
