What do you mean, bad hairstyles? I think Tom looks awesome - and the beard - wow! Kind of the Civil War officer look.
@jackistevens46846 жыл бұрын
HEY.....its not the hair that's makin that music!! and I agree....Tom DOES look awesome
@gailremp83892 жыл бұрын
Well I'm not into Civil War officers but his hair looks fine. That's not what I thought it looked like. I was thinking more like a country singer that was trying to look hip five years ago & slicked his hair back some. Ha ha. And then out would come the twang. And it was just really interesting. But he's an adorable cool dude for sure he was...

This was the tour I first saw Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Seems like yesterday. It was in May 1995 at Oak Mountain in Pelham,AL and then in October in Tuscaloosa. 95 was alright :)

So while I'm commenting on Tom's looks, I might as well mention his Cherokee nose and cheekbones and that 1000 watt smile!

www.pinterest.com/pin/362258363773516948/ Good eye Lorraine; not many pick up on that. I, however, was married to a 3/4 Native American (half Cherokee on the mother's side) and my foster brother was full Cherokee...so I spotted that as well. You forgot the hair texture though...Cherokee all the way. Because his mother was a Native; his dad had to flee from Georgia to Florida, because I gess that was a no-no then. Now there's transgenders, my how the world has changed. I think his mother was half Cherokee and half Seminole...so Tom is 1/4 of each; so still, half Native American...which is why if you Google 'what nationality is Tom Petty', it comes up 'American'.
@lorraineklimek16774 жыл бұрын
@@morgancalvi6675 I need to correct you on a point. It was his paternal grandmother that was Cherokee, not his mother. He got his blond hair from the maternal side of the family.

Oh man. So great. Steve Ferrone plays with a pocket as deep as the grand canyon. He grooves like Gadd, Porcaro and Vega. A master of groove and Mike and Tom knew it. This band has no equal

I 'heard' him in concert at the Bayfront Civic Center...they say 1981...but I'm pretty sure I was married and I wasn't married until 1983. Anyway, there is a restaurant connected to the Civic Center and I was there having lunch and listened to the concert. I'm not sure I paid anything...maybe a cover charge of a few bucks...I broke my neck in 1983 and have a bit of a fuzzy gap in those years.
@gailremp83892 жыл бұрын
Wow. So cool. I will date myself but my first concert was right after I got married in 1970. And it was Elton John at Yale New Haven in the stadium. So he was doing madman across the water and all that good stuff and it's amazing you never forget your first good concert. Or other things. Ha ha. Congrats Gail in central Florida. Funny, you hit the nail right on the head, Petty fans are a different breed. You can't love Led Zeppelin like you love Tom Petty because he's all heart and soul. You feel like he's family, the words touch and inspire that much. He was the only "celebrity" whose passing I deeply mourned, and still do to this day. I took a personal interest in his life, even hoped he would quit smoking so he would be with us longer, but in the end God has his plan and that's life. Gone but never forgotten, my favorite of all time and I know that I'm not alone.

Hearing and seeing this now after weed is legal in Illinois...beautiful performance of Mary Janes Last Dance. It's like they were playing in another dimension where prohibition never happened and this story is playing out like any bar (with alcohol) has played out in our reality before weed was legal.

I first heard Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers going to a summer basketball game in Roxborough. It was a cassette of Damn the Torpedoes. I was in front seat, Coach was driving. I asked, "Who is this, Coach?" He said, "This is Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers." That was in 1980. I have been a fan since.

Beg to differ -- on Howie you can see it taking over, but I think Tom looks magnificent and from what I hear doesn't miss a line or beat. Tom's deal with heroin was a couple years after 1995 from what I know anyway.
