Lyrics:
I shoulda known it, I shoulda seen
Leave it to you to treat me mean
Every promise was just a runaround
I shoulda known it, yeah, you're gonna let me down
Well, it's over now, you see
That's the last time you're gonna hurt me
I shoulda known it, hard to believe
It was all right there in front of me
Sold down the river, left for dead
Yeah, you're putting ideas in another man's head
Well, it's over now, you see
That's the last time you're gonna hurt me
Thanks for nothing, yeah, thanks a lot
Go ahead, baby, take all I got
And it's over now, ya see
That's the last time you're gonna hurt me
Yeah
That's the last time you're gonna hurt me

The thing that's so amazing... Is the playing. No quantizing. No pocket editing. No ProTools. No MIDI. No auto tune. And despite that. It's musically perfect. Not a note out of place. Not a dynamic unaccounted for. Benmont crushed this one. And the song writing. We all miss you Tom! "Most things I worry 'bout Never happen anyway"

Tom and Mike have such an awesome understanding and depth of the blues. For any band to rock this hard this later in their career is mind boggling. Most musicians/ bands this far in their careers are either dead/ have quit the industry/ radically changed their initial sound. And here you have Tom n' the boys doing what they still love to do--amps on ten and still channeling the energy of what got 'em into music in the first place.

Oh man... this song gets me every time. The main riff has got to be one of my favorite Heartbreaker's riffs ever and that last solo by Mike Campbell is so cool.

Chrisann Martin I loved him from the very beginning , too. I remember that shaggy blond haired kid with the skinny legs, singing "Breakdown" and "Listen to Her Heart"....and "American Girl"❤️. And then, whew, he grew hotter and sexier as the years went by. And man, he rocked right up to the VERY end of his life on this Earth. I guess we can't be sad for HIM. Heck, he did what he absolutely loved to do right up until the last days of his life. I'm sad for us though.....for who and what we lost when we lost Tom Petty... :(

"It started out, down a dirty road. It started out, all alone". I played this in my walkman while I biked for the first time to the nearest town and back, 14 miles away round trip at age 12 on an old railroad track trail. And when I got there I knew there was something good, waiting down this road, and I was picking up whatever was mine. There was nothing at the end of that road, but it didn't matter. As cliche as it sounds it was the journey that taught me, and it was Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers who inspired me and kept me going. I know for a fact you all know exactly what I am talking about. Thank you Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers.

That drummer is a beast. DAMN he can play them damn drums. And the guitar? Krrrazzzzy! I refused to be boxed in by one kind of music. I love different genres - Soul, R & B, Reggae, Jazz, Afro beats, to name just a few. But how can anyone not love this type of rock music? Tom Petty will always be the real deal. A true musician indeed. They just don't make them like that any more.
