Absolutely!! I really can't think of who else would and could take on that 1966 piece of rock gold. It was GROUNDBREAKING!! When I heard it on radio, I was 11 years old and a I'd never heard anything like it! All I wanted to do was MOVE!! We were 60's music freaks from moment of British Invasion!

andyinoregon Having heard this repetitiously upon its release in 67?, it's hard to say as I listen to this now, that a band could stay so close to the original, and not be the playing their own song. They slayed a few Dylan tunes and went flying off with Roger mcGuinn on one of his original post Byrd tunes too around the time of this concert,,,I think. Too high to recall,,,,,,, Just damn good music.

When this song came out ,it was the US answer the Yardbirds I’m a man. I was in eight grade and was so knocked out by it ,then shortly came Spence Davis with steve winwood and Gimme some loving and then the show stopper Im a Man .Not the same song but a killer version every radio and dance played with the killer Hammond B3 sound ! Music was in such good form then !

This is so great! I remember how much I loved Psychotic Reaction by the Count Five back in 1966. It was pretty radical to hear on A.M. radio way back then. Tom Petty is pretty entertaining introducing the song. Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers were so great!

I was an elementary school kid when “Psychotic Reaction” came out. I liked it even though I had no idea what the lyrics were. I had a low-fi AM radio, ha-ha!

I was 10 years old in ‘66 - this was a big hit back then. In those days we would buy 45s, or if we had a lot of money we’d buy the LP. One thing that is missed from that era is the liner notes and fotos inside the album. Great to see Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers play this beautiful composition.

Just saw the original on a live tv show performance 2 days ago. The 60's were crossing into bizarre and cool-effective psychedelic guitar/amp effects. The guitarist had his fingers way past the frets for an effect and then the lyrics, harmonica, etc.

This was so much fun to watch. On the 40th anniversary tour they didn't do any covers, at least not the night I saw them. I always loved the covers they did. PS, saw them 6 times over the years.

Rip Tom petty, I did see them live in the cuse , upstate new york, they played for the fans their entire career, have to hand it to KZbin they have every song you can think of, I remember the count 5 s hit psychotic reaction as a boy and I just used it as a comment for a channel, do you remember, it's been decades, it just proves music is timeless , great tribute to the original hit , new york
