I've never seen any other bodybuilder with the mindset that Tom Platz had/has. Never. I've tried my damnedest to emulate him, but each time I would hurt something. That method of training is not for every BODY. However, my training for the last 10-15 years has been slow and deliberate. Every rep I do I treat it as a set. And it is working.

No one has the training mentality of Tom Platz. Even if he just talk about Training, his voice and look in his eyes change. He trained harder than Arnold, harder than Ronnie Coleman and every other Bodybuilder out there. It's not about the weight, it's about intensity. Intensity it what really hurts, go throw that point where the muscles burning like Hell. You can't get that feeling with to heavy weights and less repetitions, it's also hard, but in a different way. There is nothing over INTENSITY!

Tom is the man! What a great attitude. I have seen videos of him training more modern day body builders and although those guys are huge, they can barely keep up with what Tom pushes them to do. You RULE Tom!

*Tom gave me the mindset to DIG for that "one more" rep, over and over. *Arnold gave me the awareness to put my mind IN the muscle. *Ronnie gave me the hype to enjoy every moment of the work. *Mike gave me the knowledge to be efficient and effective. *Jay gave me the thirst to obtain beauty. And finally, I gave myself the opportunity to pursue my greatest version of self. If you're reading this, I believe you have the power to believe in yourself. I hope you make some incredible back gains.

I grew up admiring him in the 1970s. I got to know him a bit when living in Venice from 90-93. What a fantastic guy, and his influence was profound on leg day, 2-3x a week. Don't forget the shoes. He always said you need a good base for squat day.

@@homelander7506 they were my favorite. Everyone is different. What did he tell you? Btw you can do legs more than once a week, but may only want to do one heavy day/squats or hack squats per week. Guys were still doing HIT in the 1990s, but separating workouts. Major groups Heavy to failure. Sub groups Light to failure. Been out of it too long. I’m sure everything is different now days.

Unfortunately for me, youth was wasted on the young. I worked hard, consistent, decent diet, good control, but many-many injuries. Tom wasn't around a whole lot, and I never saw him train there, but maybe he saw that I was one of the few guys doing significant weight full-depth/bucket reps, no bouncing, to failure. He always commented on my shoes, or lack thereof. Mike Mentzer was there, and I knew him a lot better. We saw each other several times a week for years. A super nice guy, but I hardly ever bothered him for advice. Opportunity lost. Again, youth wasted on the young. Take care, have a good day or evening.@@homelander7506
