8:05 This is incorrect; the token *does* flip to hated per rule 10.4.1. Even if the tie is between the two non-outcast suits, the token *always* flips if it stays in the same spot for two rounds.

Lizards have to discard to score. And they only craft cards matching the outcast suit.

The crafting thing comes up at 17:20. I didn't pick up on the scoring thing, so don't have a timestamp.

Just to clarify, crafting is using gardens that match the outcast suit. Some could interpret that the card crafted must have the outcast suit which would be wrong in some cases as the crafting cost may not match the card suit. This also prevents the cult from crafting anything that requires different suits.

I really liked this video! If I had one complaint about this faction, it's that their actions are called conspiracies but then there's also a faction called the Corvid Conspiracy. I just wish they'd used a different word to avoid confusion.

When you crafted the royal claim card that costs 4 questionmarks. You said it means 4 of any cleaning, but I'm pretty sure it's supposed to be 4 of the same kind, but since it's bird/wild that means 4 or a kind like 4 foxes, 4 rabbits or 4 mice. Correct me if I'm wrong, i just want to make sure.

10:35 you can't do this moving cause not ruling the clearings. Not FROM and not TO, both have a tie. Thx for your work =)

Awesome tutorials! I've got a scoring question; let's take your example with the 2 mouse-gardens and then scoring with a mouse card 2 VP. Can you score those points again in your next turn when playing a mouse card? (For the same 2 mouse gardens) I would say no, but i can't find anything about that in the rules).

Yes, you can use the same card in a different turn. If it is the same turn you can only score one for mouse one for rabbit and one for fox.

Let's see.... the rulebook sure doesn't specify that, does it! And neither did my video.... I just did a little googling and it looks like YES, you can have multiple gardens in a clearing.... As always, I could be wrong, but that's what I'm seeing. And thanks! I'm so glad they came in handy!

Do Lizards follow the general “‘move rule” (needs to rule the origin clearing or the destination clearing) or does the “crusade” overwrites the “move” rule and allows you to be able to move even if you do not rule the clearing of origin or destination?

They have to follow the generell move rules like other factions do :)

So sorry, I have another question. In daylight if you build a garden you don’t gain score? You have to activate score to gain it? Your Root tutorials are the best in the net and answer many questions but this game is very complicated especially the riverfolk factions. Understanding some rules in English is very difficult to me but your videos were very helpful, thanks a lot.

You are correct. You do not score points for building the garden. You only score points during the "score" phase and use that icon as a reference for how many points you can get.

In the rule book has written “If you perform Convert or Sanctify, you must complete the conspiracy.” means if you play one of them you can’t play another conspiracies, that’s correct?

Hi, Tom might be busy You’re thinking of the old rules, they since changed it recently to make it easier for the lizards. The lizards were considered the weakest of the factions

When you were talking about the scoring in the daylight phase, you said you just reveal the cards, the scoring ritual specifically says to discard it. Do you discard it or just reveal?

Didnt it say on the board under Craft, that you can only craft using gardens MATCHING the outcast?? So in the video you can only craft fox cards, in that turn. And you would never be able to craft bird cards??

Hi! Um, I have toyed with the idea of doing videos for Vast ever since I got it (when it was new) but I felt like there were already so many tutorials that I didn’t really have much to contribute to that space. Also, it would take SO MUCH time and effort that I just really didn’t/don’t have right now. I did kickstart Oath. I know very little about how the game plays (I usually just have a surface understanding of the game, and then rely on the rulebook to actually learn it. That way I kind of go into learning with a blank slate). So I will have to read the rules and figure out if that’s something that I want to do... But I’m glad you’re interested in those! We’ll just have to wait and see what happens as Oath comes in and what my schedule looks like...

Hey I don’t see the OUTCAST NATION piece in my expansion. The piece I have, is piece where on one side, it’s a grey circle with a line through it. And the other side is a red circle with an X through it. I’m assuming this is that piece? Does anybody know?

Yes it is! There was only printed text on this tile in the first print of the game. If you have a later copy (or for me a german copy) it is the piece you described.

I don't think so! According to the rulebook you just need to have a matching card.... So, as far as I can tell, no garden needed.

Totally a valid comment. Here’s why I say this.... to me, the Woodland Alliance took me so many times of reading and actually going through to motions to figure out what the heck was happening with them. So, to me, the Lizard Cult didn’t even come close to matching them... and since I had said the woodland alliance was high complexity, it didn’t feel like the lizard cult was in that same category.... But you’re right! They do have a lot going on. For sure.

@@TomTeachesGames Hey, Tom. Excellent video, and I only disagree on the complexity. WA faction mechanics isnt difficult, actually, but the gameplay can be tense and slow due to their theme and start. I say that LC is highest complexity because of the front loaded birdsong (most factions dont do much in birdsong), the need to bait attacks, the reveal mechanic, and the method of scoring. Their board also appears more intimidating than WA. In general, with what I've played, I'd rate LC, Corbis, and eyrie as the highest complexity factions.

Yeah! I mean..... I'm a big true crime fan.... and I find cults and cult-mentalities extremely fascinating (from an outsider) and so scary for those inside..... I feel like I had cult-like experiences growing up, and fear falling into something like that again in the future. So I really enjoy learning about them so that I can avoid falling into traps...
