I'm from the South. Tomato sandwiches or tomato/onion sandwiches with ice cold milk is one of my favorite meals. I use Bama mayo. This is the 1 sandwich where I'm a little heavy handed with it.

I took care of a lady that was from Jersey and she said that they have the best tomatoes up there. Kentucky does as well, I now live further south and I miss KY tomatoes SO much. This looks delicious.

I'm from NC and tomato sandwiches are big, typically it's just white bread, garden tomatoes, and dukes mayo. But I'm a mayo hater! I use cream cheese or avocado and everything bagel seasoning, and I put it on toasted sourdough.

Jersey girl here. Your take on a mayo-free tomato sandwich is stunning! A sweet burrata bottom and a pungent anchovy top are perfect enhancers for a pile of juicy Jerseys! Lettuce doesn't belong, but beautiful basil is exactly the right choice. (Although fresh mint would also work well, taking this sammy in another interesting direction entirely.)

idk why u don't like mayo but if you're looking for something similar but different, I reccomend vegan mayo, hellmans, or "chosen" brand with avocado oil. the hellmans one is more like traditional mayo and the avocado one has a rich savory flavor and tastes really good in my opinion 👍

Instead of mayo use pesto as the mayo. Im not a huge fan of mayo but a few summers again I finally made a tomato sandwich and it was delicious. If it anther try but use Dukes mayonnaise it will make a big difference.

Hey I have hated Mayo most of my life so I have literally never bought any as an adult. One day my husband asked for some for something so I made it, which took like 2 minutes in the blender with stuff from the pantry. Avocado mash makes a perfect BLT replacement for Mayo for me cuz I do not enjoy Mayo on sandwiches but would probably eat avocado on a shoe.

How potent is the fish layer in this? I see you add anchovies to a lot of things. I have never considered myself a fish person and just dismiss any recipe calling for anchovies.
